Be the Ultimate Party Host with this DIY Labor Day Photo Booth

As the summer season is quickly coming to an end, there’s always room for one last summer cookout.  We’re talking about gathering your friends and family for Labor Day. One of the must have items you’ll want for friends and family is a festive photo booth. This is the perfect way to help capture and create lasting memories. Learn how to create one of your own including a few props by grabbing your Cricut Maker, our favorite American Crafts Land That I Love Paper Kit, and a few other items.

Getting Started

To get started, hanging your photo booth is easier than what you think. It consists of a wooden dowel placed on two removable hooks and that’s it. Find the perfect spot to take photos and you’re ready to create the backdrop. Since this is a Labor Day photo booth, gather red, white, and blue ribbon and fabric to create the look of a patriotic flag.

You’ll tie the strips of fabric to the wooden dowel by using a double knot or looping the fabric through. It’s easiest to tie the red and white fabric first and follow up with the blue in the upper left corner. Complete the look of the American flag by using a Cricut® Maker™ to create stars to hang from the photo booth using Hot Off the Press Hurray USA Print Paper. By cutting the stars out in various sizes, it adds that extra special touch of detail and completes your backdrop.

Adding Additional Details

The backdrop is completed but don’t stop there! Layer with rosettes and a banner to truly make your photo booth one of a kind. The rosettes only require scrapbook paper, our favorite stickers, and a few cut outs with your Cricut® Maker. Don’t forget to add an American Crafts foam sticker to the middle of each rosette for the finishing touch. Layer or hang them, but either way, they’re a must have!

It wouldn’t be Labor Day without adding a USA banner that you can create within minutes thanks to the Cricut® Maker™. Cut out a banner design using the Labor Day inspired scrapbook paper, add lettering, and rub on the adorable Pebble transfer fireworks. Hang along the top of the backdrop and you’re ready to start creating the props.

Creating Photo Booth Props

Our Labor Day photo booth wouldn’t be complete without fun props guests can use. Let us show you what you can create with a glue gun, scrapbook paper, and a few other additional items.

Find several patriotic patterns on Cricut® Design Space that will only require paper and hot glue. For example, create a Statue of Liberty crown, a few rockets in various sizes and pinwheels. Each photo prop can be left as is because of the patriotic designs on the scrapbook paper or you can add to them by using stickers.

Speaking of stickers, did you know they can create the best headbands for your photo booth? Using wooden dowels, like skewers, attach the stickers at various heights. From there you’ll hot glue the dowels to the headband. Cut them at different lengths while also creating a cohesive look. Be bold by using several cardstock stickers or simple like the headband that reads America the Beautiful.

With just a few materials, a little bit of your time, and getting camera ready, you’ll have your photo booth ready for your Labor Day party in no time! You’ll certainly be the hostess with the mostess and remember to have fun with it.

We’d love to see the photo booth you create so make sure to share it with us.
