We’ve all seen our favorite bloggers post flawless looking selfies that generate thousands of likes and comments on Instagram and Facebook. So what’s their secret? The trick to capturing a double tap-worthy selfie is tougher than you might think. If you want to channel your inner-blogger and increase your “likes”, we have a few tried and true tips to make your next selfie stand out above the rest.
Face Forward
If you’re looking for a selfie worthy of #nofilter, it’s all about the right beauty products. I like to start by doing some light contouring to make my features more defined, especially when I’m about to get up close and personal.
This step-by-step contouring kit from Smashbox makes contouring easy with its visual application guide. I simply apply the shades to areas of my face according to the guide and blend, helping my cheekbones look more defined and adding just the right amount of highlight for a soft glow.
Up next, let’s get those eyes to pop with a little help from LORAC PRO’s matte three-piece set. This color palette, eyeliner and mascara kit is all you need for everyday eye makeup that will help you be selfie-ready no matter where the day takes you. For my selfie look, I applied the Pink Mauve shade to my lid and Burgundy to my crease while using both Base and Latte to blend and highlight. I then applied the eyeliner lightly to my top and bottom lids and finished off the look with a few strokes of the Lash Pomade.
Last but not least, apply a little color to your lips to really pull your beauty look together. I personally don’t like to go too defined on my lips when it comes to selfies unless you want them to be the main focus. Find a go-to shade that compliments your unique skin tone for a natural look. Having the right camera is key to capturing an Instagram-worthy selfie. I personally use the iPhone 7+ from Apple for almost all of my selfies and love the quality of the photos it produces.
