The Sandal Edit: 3 Essential Styles for Spring

I have recently been dipping my toe into the capsule wardrobe movement, which is basically when you choose to purchase a set number of items that will serve you best for the fashion season you are in. Being a mother of 4, shopping for a whole new wardrobe every season is not in the budget, but zeroing in on a few specific items my closet may be lacking is definitely doable.

Below are the 3 essential footwear items I’ve added to my wardrobe for spring!

Active Sandals

An essential is a solid pair of active sandals. I recently found Baretraps Gladiator Sandals and loved the support they provided and that they still were very fashionable. I went with the black because I figured it would match almost everything in my closet and provide the perfect active option.

A good quality pair of casual pants pairs perfectly with these sandals. I wanted a pair that I could wear around the house and that also could be pulled together enough to wear out to the grocery store or to take the kids to their music lessons. For this item I chose Bzee’s Katherine Joggers, these baby’s are so comfortable and I love the detailing on the sides.

Casual Sandals

Every girl needs a go to springy casual shoe in their arsenal. I fell for the FitFlop Cova Leather Closed Toe Sandal because they have a sweet classic look to them, they feel very feminine but are also very supportive.

A crisp, airy dress that can be dressed up or down is the perfect compliment to these shoes. The key is to think about how many ways you can wear each item. For this piece I chose the Eva Longoria Crepe Asymmetric Midi Dress in white. I can pair this dress with a casual shoe for more daily wear or a heel and it will look lovely. Plus, I love the fit of the dress it’s snug in all the right places and is forgiving in others.

Fashion Sandals

It’s always great to have a statement pair of fashion sandals… the ones you throw on that being something special to every outfit.  I found the Nanette Lepore Block Heel Sandals and loved the bright pop of color and beautiful floral design. They are my go to shoes to dress up any look.

I loved pairing these sandals with Diane Gilman’s bell sleeve top with ties. I got it in the navy blue because I liked the versatility in the cut and color. The bell sleeves with ties add a special detail to the look and makes it look like I put in more effort.

So tell me, what’s a spring essential must have for your closet?
