Learn How to Get Red Carpet Style Hair with Sally Hershberger

HSN Fans,
Thank you all for tuning-in to watch my February shows on HSN! I hope my new SALON products are giving you beautiful results.
It’s the season of red carpet style! I just returned from the opening of my new Styling Studio at the SLS Hotel in LA. The buzz was all about the Oscars and what styles the stars will bring on Hollywood’s biggest night. This year I see the red carpet at the Academy Awards taking a different turn when it comes to beauty.
There will be lots of flow and movement – nothing severe or stiff looking. For those who opt to put their hair up, the overworked, over-styled up-dos are gone and the modern take on it is a soft, sophisticated style that is still youthful and put-together.
I wanted to share with all of you some of the looks you’ll see on February 27th and how you can get the looks at home!
Curvaceous Waves

Loose, layered waves are so feminine. It’s the hottest style because it looks gorgeous and is so easy. Just spray my Mineral Spray in damp hair. When the hair is almost dry, wrap 1 inch sections of your hair around your fingers and clip it for about 5 minutes. When you take it out, you will have these great, loose waves. If you tuck your hair behind your ear when it’s still drying and then take it out, you’ll get that soft wave shaping your face perfectly. Mineral Cream will finish off the look and smooth the frizz.
Classic Elegance

An updo is always in, always chic, and always a standout on the red carpet. The key for you to get a great updo is to texturize your hair. You want it to have volume and light hold. Start with a root lifter when you are blowdrying. I developed Shape Up with marine collagen because it lifts hair from the root, but isn’t sticky. Using a round brush blow dry the hair by lifting it up and away from the face.
Spray Body Fix, my dry, volumizing hairspray to build stand out volume. Since it’s a dry hairspray, it leaves the hair bigger yet weightless. Tease hair at the crown and smooth back the hair into a low pony tail, keeping the fullness at the crown. The wrap it and pin it in a low chignon. If you have shorter hair, you can simply pin back the hair without wrapping it into a chignon. It’s a very elegant look.

Vintage Hollywood Glamour
Vintage fashion is all over the red carpet. And when styled right, it can look totally modern and gorgeous. To get this look at home, start by treating damp hair with my Keratin Rx which will leave the hair frizz-free, soft and smooth. Then spray Shape Up at the root and blow dry with a round brush. For even bigger hair set in hot rollers for about 15 minutes, it’s so easy.
These are three great styles that you can do yourself and will definitely see at this year’s Academy Awards.
Let me know how it goes!
