Your eyes say so much about you. With the perfect products and the right techniques, you will brighten, define and open your eyes like a true professional.
There’s no better time than the holidays to go for the glamour of smokey eyes, winged liner, and dramatic lashes. The best part? The following steps are so easy, you can do them in a blink!
1. Brightening Above and Below the Eyes
Let’s start with one of the most basic and essential beauty steps: brightening around the eyes. The first part of this vital step is to brighten the upper eyelid, an area many women ignore. Doing so will instantly create a more vibrant, rested look while locking your eye shadow in place for all-day, party-proof wear.
When you brighten under the eyes, the key is to apply your under-eye brightener in my Triangle of Light®, an upside-down triangle under each eye. This will not only banish a look of fatigue, it will highlight the cheekbone and make the center of your face look fuller—the heart of a younger look. Need I say more?
2. Invisible Eye Lining
Who wouldn’t want to enhance their eye shape, get thicker-looking lashes and not appear to have any makeup on? With my invisible liner technique, the secret lies between the lashes. Using a waterproof gel pencil liner, look into the mirror with your chin up and dot the liner at the base of each lash—not on the waterline. This creates a look of natural fullness by going where mascara cannot—and it won’t budge until you remove it.
3. Easy Smokey Eye
Nothing transitions an eye look from day to dressy as quickly as a smokey eye. It may surprise you to hear that it’s also the easiest look to achieve. With the right product and your finger, you will hardly need a mirror. The key is a cream, long-wear, pigment-rich shadow. Simply sweep it along the lash line and work it up to the crease with your finger or a small eye brush. The richly pigmented cream texture will give you the dramatic intensity without shadow shed while the 24-hour formula guarantees the crease-proof, all-day wear that becomes even more important with a smokey eye.
4. Easy Winged Liquid Liner
Liquid liner is the quickest way to define and dress up the eye. For casual definition, simply hug and follow the natural lash line. For dressier times, extend the line into a wing: the higher your wing, the dressier your look.
Do it yourself with these three easier-than-ever steps for the perfect winged eyes:
- Flick: Make a small line from the outer corner of the eye to the crease up toward your temple.
- Stamp: Pointing the tip towards the inner corner of the eye gently stamp the pen across the lash line.
- Wing: Connect your dash to your line to fill in your wing!
5. Long Lash Drama
Nothing defines the eye like a full set of lashes: the season’s ultimate accessory. The easiest way to get a fabulous fringe is with a dramatic mascara that creates lush lashes but stays soft and natural looking no matter how many coats you apply. A lash-conditioning formula will help keep lashes supple while you go to town.
