Pastels can be worn and worked into your wardrobe in so many different ways. Whether that be mixing them with graphic black and whites, bold bright colors, sophisticated neutrals or wearing them monochrome. The softer tones are complimentary to a number of different looks. Here are a few tips to help you with incorporating pastels into your style.
1. Start small.
If you are just now tipping your toe in the world of pastel, it’s ok to take baby steps. One way to do that is by incorporating pastels in your accessories. Another way is to keep your base neutral and just add one pastel element of clothing item to your look.
2. Color Block.
If you aren’t afraid to jump right into the trend then try choosing two pastels in the same color palette but a few shades lighter or darker and stack them. Keeping them in the same color range adds a sophistication to your look. If you are feeling a little more bold, try color blocking with a darker bottom and a pastel top. The darker bottom will make the pastel pop. To keep it classy go for simple cuts and details.
3. Add a little edge.
Pastels tend to be ultra feminine and dainty, keep this in mind when building your outfit. To keep things interesting, don’t be afraid to mix in richer colors and textures, like suede, denim, and leather.
4. Find your colors.
While I am sure there are some people out there that look amazing in every color, the rest of us have taken up the task of becoming masters of the art form of finding our colors. Finding the colors that compliment our skin tones, hair color, eye color and make us look, and feel, our best.
Right now pastels are everywhere! If it is a trend that catches your eye, I encourage you to give it a try.
