Treat yourself to a spa experience without the hefty price tag with these five at-home beauty facials. There’s a special facial for every type of skin issue like dullness, tired skin, dryness, sagging spots, and blemishes. Some of these beauty masks can even be whipped up with the ingredients already stocked in your kitchen.
1. For Moisturizing
Bananas are a great source of potassium and antioxidants which makes them a powerhouse moisturizer for skin. For a homemade moisturizing mask mash up a medium-sized ripe banana into a smooth paste then add a tablespoon of honey. Apply the paste to your face and neck and let it rest for 10 to 20 minutes, then rinse it off with cold water. You’re skin will feel wonderfully soft and smooth afterwards from the nourishment.
2. For Brightening & Smoothing
The sun is out but our skin is ashen and hiding in the shadows. Dullness and tired-looking skin is the cause of skin-cell renewal slowing down. As dead skin cells build up on the face it makes the skin appear rougher and it makes it harder for light to reflect off of it. To remedy this issue we recommend adding a brightening facial mask to your regular skin regimen. The Oxygen Facial Flash Recovery Mask by Dr. Brandt uses moringa seeds to encourage cell healing and renewal and encapsulated oxygen to restore skin’s radiance.
3. For Oily Skin
When our face is like an oil slick, lemon can tone skin and help control greasiness. Lemon can help balance the pH of skin and it is an astringent so it encourages pores to tighten. When watered down the lemon is less abrasive on the skin while still delivering amazing benefits. Combine 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice with 1 Tbsp cool water and apply with a cotton swab. Let it sit on the skin for 10 minutes then wash off with cool water and moisturize.
4. For Dark Spots and Scars
Many women suffer from dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and lasting blemish marks but there are ways to treat these skin issues. One homemade facial mask for correcting unevenness uses honey and papaya. Blend together two tablespoons of honey and half a cup of mashed ripe papaya. Apply on the face evenly for 15-20 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water and moisturize skin. Papaya contains rejuvenating enzymes that help cleanse and exfoliate skin gently, while honey is soothing.
5. For On-The-Go Beauty
When we’re traveling for work or pleasure are skin sometimes has to bear the brunt of late hours, changing climates, and dehydration. Prepare a skincare routine for when you are away from home but still want the comforts of it with you. These individual packets of Chestnut and Black Soy Firming Masque by Wei East are perfect for sticking in a suitcase or applying in a hotel room for a quick skin firming and moisturizing facial.
