Are you ready to take your DIY skills to the next level? I have some valuable embossing tips and techniques that will help you take your paper crafting projects from ordinary to extraordinary in just a few simple steps!
Tip #1. Sand your embossed design
Choose solid color cardstock that has a white core (the back of the paper is white, the color is not solid all the way through) and emboss the paper with your Cuttlebug.
After embossing, use light grit sandpaper or a sanding block to lightly sand the raised areas of the embossed piece.
Voila! A beautiful dimensional effect in just seconds.
Tip #2. Ink the Embossing Folder
This is one of my favorite techniques. Simply apply ink to the inside front of the embossing folder using a rubber brayer, or by lightly rubbing the folder with an inkpad. Carefully place cardstock inside the folder, close and emboss.
Here’s how the embossing would look without inking the folder.
And here’s a look at how the ink gives the paper that “wow” effect.
You can also try using an ink color that closely matches the paper for a tone-on-tone effect. The end result is simply stunning on a card.
