Hand-made cards are one of the best ways to show friends and family that you’re thinking of them, and you can make them really unique and special in hardly any time at all. What you’ll need:
- The Anna Griffin® Pretty Paintings Cardmaking Kit
- A ruler
- A pencil
- A craft knife
- Glue or craft tape
1. Choose Your Card Surface and Layer
All of the layers and surfaces in the Anna Griffin® Pretty Paintings Cardmaking Kit should mix and match beautifully, just pick your favorite combination.
2. Cut A Window
Open the card and on the front surface of the card place the layer down in the middle. Trace lightly along the outside the layer with a pencil. Using a ruler and a sharp craft knife cut along these newly drawn lines.
Tip: Always cut towards yourself, and always use a clean, sharp new blade. Using a cork-backed ruler will also prevent any slipping!
3. Trim The New Layer
Take the layer just cut out from the card surface and trim all of its sides by ½ inch. We’ll need this smaller layer to act as a “floating” layer in the center of the window that we can apply embellishments to. The embellishments will stick to the floating layer and the edges of the card’s surface.
4. Create Your Collage
Pick your favorite 3-D floral stickers to layer for a collage. Arrange a long collage with your flowers to cover the length of the card’s front. You can also add quote embellishments if you’d like.
5. Attach The Floating Layer
With all of your chosen embellishments applied to the floating layer now center it on the card’s surface and push down to make the stickers’ edges adhere to the card’s front. Done correctly you should have a “floating” collage with see-through spaces in the window.
6. Embellish the Interior
Use the original layer you chose at the beginning of the project and paste it into the inside center of the card. The “sentiment inserts” that come with the Anna Griffin® Pretty Paintings Cardmaking Kit can now be applied on top of that layer to decorate the inside of the card as well.
