Celebrate the Summer with This Tropical Paper Garland

With National Scrapbook Month underway, it’s time to use some of those supplies in a fun DIY! Palms are more in fashion and in style now than ever… we’re seeing them on clothing, blankets, towels, home decor; you name it! So we figured it was high time to jump on the trend and create something fun to put a little spring and summer in our step. This DIY palm paper garland is perfect for your Cinco de Mayo feast, summer barbecues and parties, or just to add a little whimsy to your space for the season.

DIY Palm Paper Garland

Materials Needed:

Start by drawing or tracing palm leaves or flowers on your cardstock of choice. The amount will depend on how long you want your garland to be and how close you want the pieces to hang together on the string. If you’re going big, just relax in front of your favorite show while you trace and cut. It goes by pretty quickly!

Layout your pieces, and decide on a pattern or if you’re going to keep it more unplanned. Using the threading needle, thread the string and begin poking through the end of the palm branches, subsequently threading the palms onto the string.

Once you’ve finished threading, tie off the ends and enjoy your creation! You can hang with hooks, washi tape, tie onto shelving or wherever you’d like to add a whimsical pop of color!

Cute, right? Really inexpensive, quick, you can use much of your scrapbook stash you’ve got on hand and it adds a great pop of color. Plus it really is the perfect touch for your upcoming summer parties (I’ve got a few up my sleeve as well!).
