To make the tissue paper tassels, start with one sheet of paper and fold in half lengthwise. Then fold that section in half width-wise, and again width-wise.

Use scissors to cut tassel strips into the paper, leaving about one inch un-cut at the top. Unfold your tissue paper once, and then use scissors to cut in half, splitting your tassel paper into two sections. Repeat by unfolding and cutting in half again.

This will leave you with four sections of tassel paper, each folded in half. Unfold and lay out, leaving you with one long section, tassels at the ends. Roll lengthwise, twisting the center until it becomes tight and you can fold in half to create a “loop.” Use washi tape to secure the loop, creating a tassel that can be strung.

To make the gold glitter paper tassels, begin with a square sheet of glitter paper and cut in half. From here you can either cut tassels into each end or cut in half again, leaving you with four smaller squares. Once each square has tassels cut, leaving about one inch uncut along the top, roll will glitter facing outwards to create your tassel.

Use hot glue along the seam at the top to secure your tassel. Using a craft knife, cut a hole (I found it much easier to cut a triangle shape hole) into the top section of the tassel so that it can be strung as well.

Once completed, gather tassels and string along your string of choice! I love using the string of lights, especially with glitter paper, to help elevate the entire look! Hang your completed garland anywhere you want to add a sparkly, festive touch. I have mine above our coffee cart and plan to add some Irish cream, brownies and candies come party time!
