Chalk paint might be the best thing ever. I work with chalk paint often and it gives that farmhouse, subtle, slightly rustic vibe with ease. With just a couple of coats, chalk paint covers well and creates a canvas to do so much with! Painted pumpkins are all the rage, but this year I decided to add my own little spin and stencil a design in gold on one side. It’s unique, made with love and a fun centerpiece idea. Grab the pumpkin DIY details below.

Items Needed:

Directions:

  1. Paint the white pumpkin with your choice of chalk paint. For lighter tones similar to my soft blue, two coats will do the trick.
  2. Allow the pumpkin to dry for 2-4 hours. Chalk paint dries quickly, but feel free to allow it to dry overnight.
  3. Select your stencil of choice and place it on the pumpkin using painters tape.
  4. Trace the stencil with a pencil. More than likely you won’t get the stencil outline to perfection due to the curvature of the pumpkin, but that’s all right. This is your masterpiece and it will have the charm you are looking for.
  5. Remove the stencil and painters tape.
  6. Paint your traced stencil using small paint brushes. I recommend gold, it’s fun that way!
  7. Allow the paint to dry for 2-4 hours, or again overnight.
  8. Display and admire your crafty work.

*Here are a couple of centerpiece ideas to get you going with your newly created pumpkin:

  • Use swag, garland or decorative candle decor rings at the base of your pumpkin to add a pop of seasonal colors.
  • Place the pumpkin on a small cake stand to give height making it the focal point on a table.
  • Use items from around the house you might already have on hand to embellish the centerpiece such as antlers, small pumpkin decor items and candles.

You can’t go wrong by adding a variety of mix match seasonal items to your centerpiece to add extra pizzaz.

Happy crafting and decorating!
