There is no better time to add a little punch of cosmetic color to your beauty palette than when the weather heats up! Even if you’re a fan of neutrals like me, there are so many fun ways to bring color into your collection of beauty products – and I promise that none of them are scary.
1. Nails: The simplest way to add a pop of color to your day
Your nails are the easiest place to make a statement. Nur hones in on both neons and pastels – both of which are all the rage this summer. I love that both brights and lights are in the mix, because it means that there is a nail polish for everyone regardless of how brave or timid you may be. If you’re a bit more conservative, a creamy pastel in yellow, peach, mint or lilac is just gorgeous. The bolder crowd will opt for day-glow neons in electric orange, coral, or fuchsia. As a tip, adding a layer of white polish underneath of your desired shade will result in more saturated color.
2. Lips: A vibrant swipe of the right color will brighten up any look
Finding a great color for your lips, can really transform your whole look! While orange lips are still very on trend, I’m seeing celebrities going bright pink for summer – just like Nur recommends. It’s a shade that flatters a variety of skin tones and it’s easy to come by at all price points and in all formulas. Beauty minimalists will love getting this look from a tinted balm which offers sheer, glossy coverage and the girls who really like to go for it will find that an opaque liquid lip or a matte cream lipstick will really bring the drama.
3. Eyes: A little bit of color can make a big difference when playing up the eyes
Summer seems to be a perfect time to play around with your makeup. While it may seem a bit 80’s to dust a neon blue eye shadow all over your eyelid, there are still a few ways to break away from the neutrals and to add color into your eye look. If you’ve got your hands on a bright shadow, try applying it with a skinny eyeliner brush to your bottom lash line. You can also invest in an eye-opening aqua pencil liner and get the same effect. Another way to get vibrant around your eyes is to pick up a colored mascara. A longwearing formula in pink, purple, or blue adds a subtle impact that will have people taking a second look at your precious peepers.
