We all know those people with perpetually clean homes, the ones where you can stop in at any moment and their place always looks beautiful and tidy. You may even be this person, but if you are not, don’t lose hope my friend; learning to keep a clean home is a skill we can all thrive at. I have found that implementing five simple daily habits can help you manage your home… and your sanity. 5 Habits for a Clean, Healthy Home
1. Make The Beds
This task may seem unimportant in the grand scheme of daily necessities but there are many people that believe that it can give your attitude towards the day a positive boost. It’s a task that you’ve accomplished and no matter how the rest of the day goes when you come back home, you will see your made bed and know it was a task that you completed. Plus with the largest item in the room looking tidy, the overall look changes dramatically.
2. Put The Laundry Away
This is one of my personal goals for 2018. It’s tempting and frankly really easy, to simply leave our clothes in piles around our rooms. Or even once they are all washed and folded, not completing the last step of hanging them up or putting them in the dressers, but leaving them in our laundry baskets. I know the simple act of putting away our clean clothes and putting our dirty clothes in our closet hampers instead of draped on furniture or in piles on our floors will be a huge step in making our space look and feel more tidy. Another goal this year that goes hand and hand with this habit is to use as many natural products in my home as I can, I’ve been a fan of Nellie’s All-Natural Laundry Soda and Fragrance Sticks for the last year or so, and they’ve been great for keeping up with the messy laundry piles from our home of six! I’m looking forward to finding more natural products throughout my home.
3. Spot Check Your “High Touch” Surfaces
Which leads us to the next habit, do a spot clean of all your handles, light switches and counter tops. The germiest places in our homes are usually the surfaces everyone touches regularly, like those doorknobs, cabinet handles and light switches. Bacteria and viruses can live on surfaces for days, so it is important to disinfect them everyday. I recently started using Earth Brite All Purpose Cleaner, plus the polisher, and have instantly become a fan.
4.Put Away Clutter at the End of the Day
Take the time to put away stray papers, electronic chargers, toys, and used glasses that always seem to clutter our desks and kitchen counters. I believe by taking this effort it will make it easier to start our days fresh and focused, when we don’t have to deal with all the little items from the day before.
5.Put Dishes Away
This is definitely a task that is easier said than done, but rather than leaving dishes in the kitchen sink, just take the few minutes it takes and place them in the dishwasher as soon as you finish using them. Then each night, run the dishwasher before bed and empty it first thing in the morning.
With just a few simple steps, you’ll be on your way to cleaner home and a fresh start each day in this new year! So tell me, what are some of your favorite natural cleaning products or your favorite home-cleaning tip? I’d love to hear!
