Paper flower garlands are a great way to add a whimsical touch to your home décor or to any event you’re hosting. And let’s not forget how you can pick custom colors, use your favorite flowers, and hang them however you’d like. With the endless possibilities that the Cricut Maker offers, you’ll be creating paper flower garlands for your next social gathering or to add a pop of color to your home in no time.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Cricut Maker
Cardstock
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Twine
Scissors
Time to create!
First, you’ll need to decide on your color scheme for the flowers. A great place to start is with the Bazzill 100-Piece Assorted Cardstock Bundle which offers high quality paper in an abundance of colors. This also means you can use your paper floral garland again and again. Once you have your colors picked out, it’s time to get out your Cricut Maker.
With the use of Cricut’s Design Space, it’s never been easier to create paper flowers. Choose your favorite florals to use on your garland or even design your own. Directions are also provided within the Design Space to guide you on how to hot glue your flower pieces together. For my garland I went with a mixture of poppies and peonies in various colors.
Once you’ve created all your individual flowers for the garland (and this will depend on the desired length you want), begin to hot glue each flower to the twine. This is as simple as applying a dot of hot glue to the back of each flower and pressing them onto the string. Keep in mind to create a space for the leaves between each flower as you attach them.
The garland starts to come together after all the paper flowers are attached. Create a fuller look by using your Cricut Maker to cut out green leaves. Attach the leaves to the twine along the open spaces throughout the garland using the hot glue once again.
With just two materials, cardstock and twine, and the added bonus of using a Cricut Maker, you’ll have this gorgeous floral garland to use however you’d like. I imagine this garland beautifully draped along a mantle, a bar cart, or put on display for a summer soiree. Now that you know how to create one yourself, you can have a garland for each passing season throughout the year.
