Heidi Gets Down to Business: What it Takes to Create a Today’s Special
When-to-Watch: Heidi will be on air Friday, July 1 at midnight ET with her Today’s Special! Check the Program Guide for more dates and times.
Welcome to summer! July is one of my favorite shows to do, because it involves many new designs and collections, and, of course, a TS!
For those of you who are not familiar with some of our HSN lingo, TS simply means Today’s Special, and I am always thrilled when I get an opportunity to present that special something to you. A TS can be any category of jewelry. It can be that pair of earrings that you wear every day, or the pin on your lapel that defines you. It might be a simple set of necklaces that can be worn a few different ways. long, short or in a “Y”. And lastly, this should be a useful piece of one’s wardrobe that can be worn day and evening.
Curious as how I come up with a TS? First of all, I have to be strongly connected to the design. I am inspired by anything structured in intricate detail, whether it is in amazing architecture, or even an automobile. Jewelry is no different–attention to detail is what makes us all unique. Keeping this goal in mind, I also want to build a piece to look fantastic, but that doesn’t mean it has to break the bank.
Girls, this is the biggest challenge I have, because if you know me, you know my motto: “GO BIG OR GO HOME!” I don’t want to do anything with less, or skimp on the sparkle. In fact, I’ve changed the phrase “less is more” to “more is more”! Ha! I love it! I am only able to stay within a super price point, because of buying power. Everyone knows it’s more expensive to buy one roll of paper towels vs. a case, so this is where my good friends at HSN and all of you gorgeous and faithful Heidi girls come into play.
Since we will also be celebrating HSN’s 34th Birthday this month, I’ll share some trivia with you: The first TS 34 years ago was the Rival Electric Can Opener! I know it’s a tough question, but which would you rather own, girls? An electric can opener or a piece of Heidi Daus Jewelry? I say, out of the kitchen and into the spotlight!
Now everyone knows that a TS is a secret until my air date, so I cannot even give you a peek until July 1st, but here’s some summer fun I can share… Get the advantage on the court with my chic-yet-whimsical Tennis Racquet Pin and matching Tennis Ball Earrings. Did someone say, “40-LOVE”?
- Heidi Daus “Déjà Hue” Cross Necklace Item: 128-756, not yet available for purchase
And, for the first time, I am also bringing you the “Déjà Hue Cross” Necklace in a choice of colors, rich and vibrant. The reason for the name “Déjà Hue” is, because this a design I have had in my private collection for, gosh, it’s got to be 20 years, and I am just now introducing it to you. In closing, I’d like to say: First be healthy and happy, and beauty will follow… Stay gorgeous, girls!
Much love,
Heidi xoxo

I have many of your pieces…love all of them!! Just ordered the “Suitably Sophisticated” necklace…will there be earrings, ring and a bracelet to compliment the necklace????????????
Dear Heidi,
Please please please keep us very petite girls in mind. Most of your jewelry is toooooooo big for us in size/scale. My wrist is 5&1/4″ – so your 6&1/2″ S/M bracelets are too large and fall off my hand. Please also make shorter necklaces – the 18+” necklaces on my small frame make the drop come down very low on me – so I have to wear them over a t-shirt or blouse – I would love to wear your beautiful necklaces against my skin with a V-neck blouse or sweater. Thank you for listening!
Dear Heidi,
I would love to own more pieces of yours but your necklaces are TOO SHORT! Please, please, make more 24″ , 30″ and 36″. My neck is of a large woman; it measure 20″…so 15 1/2″ to 19 1/2″ do NOT fit! Also when making bracelets…..a 6 3/4″ is not a MED/LARGE size. My wrist measures 7 3/4″ so an 8″ just fits. A bracelet that measures 8 1/2″ would have some lee-way and fit much more comfortable. Every woman likes a bracelet to hang somewhat. Thank you kindly, MariaPa.
I own a number of your bracelets and earrings. They’re statement pieces, I love them all.
Hi Heidi; My name is Jeannette from West Brookfield Ma. Like every other woman I love your jewelry. Unfortunately, on Sat. program, I missed your pumpkin pin. Is it possible you could get it back before Halloween, because there was no waiting list for that item.If so, I would be very grateful. Thank you Heidi!!!!
Miss Heidi: you are one of the most creative and talented women in the world! I have many pieces of your lovely jewelry. I am of Latina heritage and many of your pieces sort of lean in that direction; I am wondering if you might be able to create some pieces with Aztec, Toltec, Tulu, Yaqui and other Mexican/South American influences? There is a huge market out here to be tapped!
The colors you use really lend themselves to this type of art!!
I think they would be splendid!!! Diana
Hi Heidi! I have so many items of yours but not so many earrings. My lobes are stretched out form earrings in the 70’s and i need small ones. I was hoping you could do a pierced earring (with the disc back) jacket in black diamond crystals and then make a bunch of studs in diff colors that would go through them. I would buy every color. They would all go back to your jewelry and we could mix and match them.
Psst… Heidi, girls! Do you note Very V. “Iris” jacket, which is like made for Heidi’s “My Iris Garden” set?
Heidi, I have just discovered your jewelry. I am so enamored by the vintage style art deco beauty and workmanship. I purchased the Sunflower Bangle and earrings which are awesome. I am purchasing the Beauty and the Beads necklace; I prefer the longer necklace styles. I am looking all over the web for the exquisite art deco pierced earrings in the “beauty and the beads” collection but can not find them. Will they be back in stock at HSN? I am looking f’wd to your Sep visit.
Heidi, when are you going to bring back the poncho? I think it would look great in an elegant dark black watch plaid or and Ikat or paisley design, besides the black and an oyster white. regards Em.
Hello Heidi, again. I’m not whining really. I inquired earlier about the Rose Elegance earrings with “Siam red-color stones” because I have the matching necklace and pin. You suggested I keep checking and I see you did indeed bring them back but with Fuchia stones, any chance of getting the earrings with the “red stones”? Thanks.
Hi Heidi!
I have many of your pieces, but this visit I purchased the TS watch in every color and every matching piece to go with every color! I just love the design of the Timeless Beauty line (obviously). Lol! I also got the new Madame Butterfly necklace, which is my personal totem, and the olivine earrings; the entire Ram-Bling set; and Heidi’s Hearts of Gold set. Love it all! I would love to see a crab piece for us July birthday girls (hint). Thanks so much for the smiles and sparkles!
Hello, Heidi! I have an aqua watch of yours that I recently purchased a ring to go with. Problem? No jewelers in our little town to replace the watch battery. What can I do? I’m keeping that beautiful ring even though I need sizer to make it fit. Big fan in Idaho (aka-grandma Idaho)
Hello Heidi, Love your jewelry. The old style is very exciting. I do wish you could design rings for men also. I am sure there must have been art-deco style rings for men in the day. If not thanks for reading this. A fan, Gary.
Hello, Heidi..I have a small collection, but still building, of your jewelry and every piece is fabulous! In particular I have the necklace and pin of your “Rose Elegance” in the Siam Red stones. Have been searching for the EARRINGS for a long time. The last host pick you brought them back but in a fuchia color. Any chance of getting the earrings, prefer pierced but will take clip. You’re a busy lady I know, but if you could respond?? Thanks.
Hi Ligiere, they may very well come back. Stay tuned to HSN!
Heidi Heidi Heidi the Sunflower Set is so VaVoom!!!! OMG it glows like a sunflower corsage and necklace at sunset!! Please never stop making you flowers, because they are glorious.
As I know you plan ahead, would you ever consider making a Christmas corsage of sorts like we used to wear on our coats when we were kids?
I can just see some holly and berries and maybe a rose?
Anyway thanks thanks thanks!!!
Heidi – I have a number of your pieces, mostly rings and earrings. I was just wondering if you could make your earrings in both pierced and clip. It seems that the ones I really like that match rings I would like to purchase come only in clip-on. If more of your earring came in both that would be a dream come true. If there is a ring that would or could match the “lilly of the valley” earrings, that is a sale waiting to happen. Just love your things and love looking to see whats new.
Heidi has created a ring for this collection. It was on HSN about 6 months ago, and it is absolutely gorgeous. Maybe you can find it on eBay.
I have NEVER been a bling kind of women, but I was switching channel one day and there is Heida Daus, well first of I bet when she walks into a room all heads turn, very attractive, but back the the jewelry. I love it. It knocks my socks off. I really don’t have anywhere to wear it, but just having it on in my owm home makes me feel like a million buck. Thanks so much. BTY I am 70 so I guess your never to old to enjoy.
You are NEVER too old to enjoy life. Wear that jewelry day and night woman! I even wear my jewels with my work-out attire when I leave the gym. The woman on the street in the sweatshirt and pearls is ME!
Beautiful things can lift a mood—turn a dull, boring day into a “less” dull, boring day. And oh my goodness—Heidi jewelry—well let’s just say wearing her pieces is the quickest way to “undull” your day (don’t think “undull” is actually a word but it makes the point)!Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
Boy oh boy you CANNOT “ignore” a piece of Heidi jewelry! Don’t even try…you can’t do it. Her pieces are all “knock your socks off” gorgeous. I don’t have alot of “fancy smancy” places to wear my pieces either but I could care less…I just wear what I want…what the heck…right? I love love love Heidi’s jewelry and have quite a collection. I never thought I would have so many of her pieces but somehow I do— and I value my Heidi jewelry as much as my vintage and antique pieces.Maybe more!!!
Heidi! I know you get lots of encouragement to make certain pieces but I have observed you wearing flowers in your hair…have you ever considered creating a hair accessory line? I would love to see some beautiful combs for french twists, headbands and flowers. I have prematurely gray hair and get lots of compliments on it and love to wear it up and would love some Heidi Daus pieces to show off! Just an idea!
Thanks for inspiring me to be bold and confident! I adore you and your style!
Pinkky, I have designed hair barrettes, clips and combs in the past. Gail and I have discussed bringing them back, it’s just a question of when. Stay tuned!
Heidi–I bought your “fabulous Rocks” necklace–is there an earring available that would work with it? THX Barbara
Yes! There is a pair of Fabulous Rocks Earrings to go with that necklace
Check HSN.com!
Hi Heidi,
I was able to buy the Swarm of Dragonfly necklace but the earrings sold out before I got home. Will you be making more of the large dragon fly earrings availbe for HSN.
Thanks Liz
Hi Heidi gotta alot of your pieces since I found you in 2011. PLEASE more earrings in the pierced. I missed the ladybug ring, did you have a watch or bracelet?? I also miss the climbing rose earrings, can you bring some of these pieces back??
Hi Heidi,
Can please bring back Harmony of Color” Beaded Carnelian Drop Necklace. I loved that necklace and I never had the chance to buy it. thanks
Dear Heidi, I am an avid collector of your jewelry. I must say that your pieces are phenomenal; I love the dragon pieces and I was wondering if you would to consider making cuff-links. Are you designing new eye-glass holders? Well, I am getting ready to catch your show I adore your presentations. Break a Leg Heidi!!!!
Thank you for the joy you provide me.
Gypsy
Heidi, Your pieces are so beautiful, so well done, so artistic. Thank you so very much for designing and making such gorgeous jewelry. My clients here in Pennsylvania always love to see what I am wearing from your collections. I have been a raving fan of yours for years. I am always amazed by your imagination. And talk about the wow factor. So this 64 year-old red-head sends best greetings from the burbs of Philly, and looks forward to seeing what you dream up next. Thanks again.
Sounds like you have always been noticed Phyllis. You’re a statement kind of gal – my favorite! Thanks for watching.
Hi Heidi,
Love your jewelry! Question:I have an extremely large wrist. I would love to buy a bracelet but the sizing is always prohibitive. My question is on your watch, “Fantasy in Flight”. I comes with an extender ~ is there a way to purchase an EXTRA EXTENDER so that I could wear this beautiful watch if I were to purchase it? Please! It would be really great if purchasing an extra extender was a regular option. Just a thought ~ as we all want to enjoy your great jewelry.
