Welcome
Welcome to my first blog
I am really happy to take this opportunity to touch base with you. This has been a long time dream of mine to have a way to communicate directly. I will be updating my blog before every show or when I have a wonderful trip or adventure that I just can’t wait to share with you.
This year seems to be screaming by. It’s funny when I was younger, time just seemed to stand still at times, and I wanted to be older, so I could experience more in life. Now that I am older, time seems to be rushing by and I am worried I don’t be able to see it all. There is an upside to time passing quickly – it takes several months to take an idea to a finished product, and I am always so excited to share it with you – the anticipation is painful at times, so since time passes quickly, before I know it I am on air and can share not only my latest creations, but also the story about how I designed it or the adventure of how I found the stone.
This month is a big travel month for me. I’m taking a two week trip across the polar ice cap and then south into Asia. This month I’ll travel all over Asia, this is always interesting, and one of the many trips to discover new “Mine Finds”, it gives me a chance to hook up with miners from around the world, as well as get a fresh look at color combinations and another culture’s interpretations on art and beauty. I will meet with all of my many foreign vendors and get to see everything from fresh water pearls to all the different shapes and colors of coral.
I have always enjoyed traveling, and the interesting cultures that you get exposed to. I will take this opportunity to film some of the unusual things and share them with you first hand. I will also be taking still pictures that you will see on an upcoming entry.
I am really excited about my upcoming visit. I have so many new and different designs to share. I have some unique combinations of stones and two great new concepts that will be debuting in the July show. Make sure to tune in so you can be one of the first to see them.
Please check in often and feel free to write me below – please keep in mind that when I am out exploring and discovering new finds…they don’t always have internet access, so it may take me a while to write you back or answer your questions – but rest assured I will do it when I return. Have a wonderful July – see you before you know it.
Safe travels……Jay

Great Idea, the only thing I could possibly do is find some kind of new finding, I’ll check it out. J

Hi I grew up in Farmington, NM. I was skiing Durango when it was a single lift. Right now I don’t have any, but I am always doing new crosses .J

This comes from the South China Sea, this is its natural color, but its getting harder to come by. J

This is a great point. Just so that you know our goal is a quality product. The problem is how it is handled after it leaves our hands. I will always stand behind my designs 100% and repair anything I can This was one reason for the blog. We manufacture all over the world, example, all our silver comes from the country-regionUS , but we acquire rough and manufacture in several countries. I am not aware of anyone who doesn’t do the same. If the silver is done in the country-regionUS then the stone or rough materials come from other countries. It’s a global economy. J

Thanks, I love triple C I hope you tell more people about us. J

Its Anhui turquoise. A variety they call RED SKIN, because of how it looks……..It comes out looking like red balls when mined. J

Funny I am working on that now. Less than 5% of the Amber rough I get is this color. We will have it some time down the road. J

I buy direct from the mines in most cases. It depends on where you are going. You might want to read up a bit on Opals before you go. Knowledge is power, when buying. J

Thrilled to hear from you, bless your heart. Jay I love it all. My favorite things are anything with pumpkin beads(green earrings turqoise),My ideas more matching sets, stars in any color maybe a picture jasper cross to show off the beauty of the stone like the rodinite one. and calsilica in a flatter form. Bring back the dumbells!
Hi Jay, I was wondering if you will be ables to and plan on bringing back the lace agate necklace that was on HSN a while ago and sold out. The necklace consists of longer cylinder and roundel lace agate beads. Thanks.
Hi Jay: I love your pieces and so enjoy your shows and all your stories. A while back you had a necklace with a stone that was green in color and had alot of copper running through it. I did not get a chance to buy it and have not seen the stone since. I am sorry I do not remember what the stone was. Do you recall what I am talking about and do you have any more of this stone coming? Please continue to bring us your designs. Your prices on HSN are a steal! Safe travels.
Hello to the handsome Mr. King!! Anymore of the GREEN TREE AGATE coming? Would really like some earrings, missed out on the first ones, and any YELLOW JADE? Why is the yellow jade the hardest jade color to acquire?
I have SOOO many of your pieces it is embarrasing! LOVE your stuff! Would it be possible to put a tiny card in with each piece to give the name of the stone and where it is mined/found? especially with the more unusual mine finds…I know this might require more work and might cost more, but I’ve had several people ask me about some of my more unusual pieces and I cannot remember what the stone is or where it is from.
Greetings Jay,
Thanks for bringing us the beautiful rocks. I have a lot of your pieces.
Please consider making some of your jewelry in the U.S.
I would be willing to pay more for it than the pieces made in China, and I suspect others would also.
Thanks,
A loyal customer
Jay I just want to say, YOU ROCK!
I love, love, your creations. What a pleasure every time you’re on to see what you’ve brought us, I never miss a show.Your turquoise pieces are magnificent and I can’t begin to tell you how many of them I am blessed to own and love( not to mention all the other beauties I have from U!)I would love to see some butterfly pieces , especially a ring :) in turquoise(any stone/stones really!)
Keep on showering us with your gorgeous nature finds! Please ;)
hi Jay, like so many others, I love your jewelry and appreciate your talent. I love the Southwest and your jewelry enhances that. Request- PLEASE do some CLIP earrings. There are
many of us that are excluded because you never have clip earrings. Please include us!
Mr. King
I absolutely love your jewelry, especially your crosses. Wish you would make more. I have a question about a piece that I bought from you. It was the black agate nad jasper drop necklace. The necklace broke. The string or wire that it was string on snapped. I need to know if you will making anything similar to this or if you have any suggestions on what to have this strung on so that it won’t snap again. Luckily I caught all the beads before they hit the ground.
I would rather wear your style of jewelry than diamonds. I love the natural look and feel of your pieces. But, I bought your sterling silver disc bracelet in turquoise, wore it three times, and the magnetic clasp broke. The circular piece on one side of the clasp used to attach the strand broke and on the other side a different strand came loose from the clasp. I contacted HSN customer service, but thought it would help to contact you on how I can get this repaired or at least a new clasp.
JAY,I have to tell you I am a big collector of your jewelry, and that the husband had to buy me a 5 1/2 foot gold and silver safe armoire to put all my jk mine finds in. He joked about the wieght of it after putting all my pieces in it, hoping that the floor will hold up. I lost count of how many pieces I own along time ago. Jay love your jewelry. Waiting for your return with the new stuff. I have always been very pleased and amazed with your pieces.
I love your jewelry and the stones are beautiful. I ordered your Sunset Jasper Oval ring-item number 373094. I received the ring in the mail last week. Wow-it is bold, the color jumps out at me and heavy. I have always liked huge jewelry. I can’t wait until your jewelry is on HSN again.
Hey Jay!
I am a fellow lapidary inthusiast, and rock hound. I started this hobby very recently, mostly due to seeing your beautiful pieces, and hearing you tell the stories of each stone. I purchased my first Jay King piece recently, a cuff bracelet, I believe it’s called Silver Cliffs Jasper Bracelet. It’s AMAZING! I’ll be back for more FOR SURE! Thanks for your pieces, your stories, and for getting me started in this great hobby. Safe travels to you!
Dear Jay, I am a Registered Nurse Educator at our local Community College and teach future RN’s in the clinical area at various hospitals so I get tremendous public exposure and input. Let me tell you I have so many of your pieces that I wear and they are a source of admiration by all who see them. I am allergic to metals but I wear them over my clothes. I would love it if you could make earrings either out of steel findings or ultrafine silver so I could wear them.
Hi Jay,
I live in Durango, Co. (hog heaven for a turquoise lover). I have many of your pieces and enjoy them all. A year or two ago you had a turquoise & picture jasper cross necklace that I loved but was not smart enough to buy. Any chance there just happens to be one laying around or that you will bring it back?
Thanks so much for the beauty you bring us and the great prices.
Sheryl
Where is the coral from that you used in the sponge coral necklace 375-363 that looks like a cleopatra collar? I finally ordered one (got lucky it was back for a few minutes) and I like to keep track of where you found each mine find.
Hello Jay,
First of all let me say that I love your jewelry designs, and I love listening to you tell your stories because it is so obvious that you love what you do.
My concern is that many of the customer comments speak of stones falling out of pieces, pieces being cracked and other items that reflect the manufacturing process. I have been told by several people that your items are now made in China, would you please address this issue for me.
Thanks so much
I giggle reading everyone’s counts of their Mine Finds pieces, because I have no idea how many I have. LOVE your stuff. I always receive compliments wearing it and I especially love the variety of lengths and shapes that you are now offering. I even turned my best friend on to buying your pieces. We watch or record your shows like a favorite sitcom we can’t miss. Love to watch you with triple C as the host! Thanks for always making me a stand-out in the crowd. Keep it coming!
Hello Jay,
I need some help!! I was wearing my peppermint opal set today. All of a sudden, the stone in my cuff bracelet fell out and broke into 3 pieces. Is there any way the stone can be replaced? I don’t mind sending it back to you so you could see the size and shape of the stone that needs replacing. Of course, I’d need an address. Please let me know as soon as possible if you will be able to help me. Thank you.
Hi, Jay King, I have tried numberous times to talk with you while on air with no success. I have at least fifty pieces of your jewely. Needless to say I love your pieces. Reframed from buying any this last show because I could not afford it. I bought a Aventurin necklace (Item 324629) and wore it twice. Next time Itook it out to wear, the end piece on on side had come off and the beads were coming out. Is there anything you can do to fix the problem? I love this piece!
To those readers who have suggested that Jay include a note with each order describing the stone and it’s source (great idea btw): I keep a Word .doc listing every piece I buy. I cut/paste directly from the HSN website, the picture & description of everything. I consider my collection to be heirlooms and I want my sisters and nieces to appreciate each when they are passed down to them.
I love your jewelry and have been collecting for over a year now. I was wondering why you don’t use more malachite and when you do, it’s usually as an accent stone? In fact, I see very little malachite anywhere. I remember it being much more bountiful (and cheaper) in the early 80’s but not recently. Is this stone hard to find or more difficult to mine now?
Your designs and value are unequalled and the stones are mesmerizing. We’re mostly interested in your turquoise pieces and your travelling stories. We’ve ordered several pieces lately and will in the future. Sincerely
Jay, I love love love your jewelery. I have lots of jewelery by you. I have a problem. I purchased a necklace and earrings a couple of years ago when I first started with HSN. It was the Picture Jasper Disc on a black cord and the lever back earrings with the Jasper disc. I really am very fond of this set but I have lost one of the earrings and would like to replace it. Can you help me? I do love your jewelery and continue to wear it often. Thanks for your designs.
jay, your jewelry is just so beautiful, big and bold without being over the top. I love your designs and can’t wait to see what you bring to us on your august visits. It is my dream to do what you do. I love to go gem mining. Keep up the good work.
