Twiggy on Her Obsession with Boots, Dressing for Fall, and Adding Color to Your Wardrobe

During her visit in September, we sat down with Twiggy to chat a bit about her personal style, and got some great tips for fall. See what she had to say…

On her obsession with boots
I’m obsessed with boots. I could live without most things, but not without boots. I won’t tell you how many boots I’ve got! There’s something that’s incredibly wonderful about them. They’re at the height of fashion. Ankle, high, any boots. The ones we’ve got in the Twiggy London collection are just amazing. I based them on a kind of pirate come cowboy slouchy look, you know, the swashbuckler look. They’re lovely, really comfortable.
I wear boots all the year round. Love to wear them with gypsy skirts. Boots go with everything. You have to get your head around how boots work to fully appreciate them. Once you do, you’ll love them just as much as I do. Not just winter warming things. I love putting opaque thick tights with a pair of boots. Brilliant!

On cool-weather dressing
I much prefer fall and winter clothes. There’s something about getting dressed for the cooler weather and layering. I love layering, of course. There’s just something nice about getting all snuggly and warm. I love knits, jerseys, I love leather. I find autumn and winter clothes more exciting than spring and summer. Layering, belts … you can do so much more with the fall and winter looks.
On adding color to your style repertoire
I do love the kind of muted shades – the grays and muted tones. In early spring, then it’s the soft grays. But, on the other hand, I love adding a shocking pink, bright blue, what I call jewel colors. In London, on a gray day, when it’s raining, a nice bright color just kind of cheers you up. Of course you always have to have black. But if I buy something and it comes in black and other colors, I’ll always buy black and at least one color.

On style as you age
I always say that fashion should be fun. Don’t be frightened! When it comes to shopping, go with somebody you trust, somebody who will be honest with you. A sister, daughter, mother. Or, experience HSN shopping. You know, the privacy of your home, and get your loved one to tell you the truth. Some people get stuck in an old look. Layering is brilliant, especially as you get older. You don’t have the perfect body, not everyone does.
On her obsession with belts
I think they can pull an outfit together. If you’ve got a tummy issue, which a lot of women do, you can wear a big belt. They can hide a few ills. I love belts ALMOST as much as a love boots. I quite like that swashbuckling, pirate look.

Hi Twiggy, I love the leather motorcycle jacket you had last year. I wor it for the first time this fall and noticed that the leather pulled away fron the left zipper exposing the interfacing. It tore all the way down. Leather was thin and almost looked dry rotted. I was so upset about it because I love this jacket and get lots of compliments on it. I noticed it isn’t in the fashion line up for this year. I don’t think it is repairable. I purchased last year. Can you help? I have called.

Twiggy, I LOVE your jeans the cut was Fab could you do more in boot cut. I have the distressed ones and just love them. I also agree with the other customers that the Union Jack handbag was gorgeous but if you could size down a bit and please bring it back! :-) I loved the colors you chose for that bag the bonze was perfect and navy as well! Twiggy,I ordered your Signature jeans with rose detail and loved the feel & weight of your denim. I loved the fit as well except I cannot wear a lower rise. I am 63 with a “belly issue” now and cannot find a stretch denim jean with a natural waist. I miss that “warm” fit of the natural waist. I have to keep tugging & pulling up lower waist jeans and just not comfortable,& elastic waists have too much material & leave such a gap as I do have a waist. I wondered if you have a line with natural

Twiggy, your jeans are the best!!! My favorite are the distress jean. Wash and wear. I forget that I have a closet full of jeans, people would think that I only have two pairs (Rose signature) of jeans. That’s how much I love them. I am 5 2″ and would also love if you would start making petite size. Love your Twiggy T-Shirts. So far everything I purchase have been 5 star winner’s!! Twiggy, your clothes are excellent quality. Please don’t ever change for you have this customer for life!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE your boots, I bought a pair..but sadly had to return them. I have a high arch and could not get them on…if they had a zipper …..my friends would have been envious. Please consider this when you next design boots
Twiggy your sued belts are near sold out pretty please restalk them more colors if you so desire I have purchased your boots I LOVE THE HEAL and the colors I was lucky to get them on sale . i went to get them in thr olive time was out price went up so very sad! 4 pairs I jeans sure hope they fit.LOTS OF FLEX PAY so many of us are limited income but wish to present ourselves in style

I’m your age and grew up in Los Angeles with your influence. Now, I love your things on HSN, especially the Union Jack items. I ordered the bag with your glorious Prince William & Kate in mind. In July, I rescued an abused gray/cream male cat who was living in a garage. To honor him, and his rough first year, I named him PRINCE WILLAM! Hi Twiggy. I would have LOVED to have purchased your new Union Jack handbag but it is just TOO HUGE. I had to return two of your bags that I loved because they were enormous!!! I have loved your style since I was a teenager — in fact, I actually had “the Twiggy hair cut” in the 60’s. I’m anxiously awaiting a red motorcycle jacket which is on back order!

Twiggy, I have to tell you that I love everything you’ve brought to HSN. However, my absolute favorite things are your shoes and your handbags. I have loved every one of them.
