The 24-Hour Dress Event: Robert Verdi
We are so excited for our 24 Hour Dress Event on April 25th! We have every style of dress you can think of, from the popular maxi to the wrap, mini, shift, A-line… you name it, we have it! This event will be really special because special guest host and stylist to the stars – Robert Verdi – will be at HSN to give style tips and advice all day long!
Since Robert launched his line of sunglasses in February, the response to his collection has been amazing! We thought we would pick his brain and get his style expertise. Be sure to tune in on April 25th to join Robert and the rest of our fabulous designers on HSN!
What is your favorite Red Carpet moment and why?
There are countless memorable red carpet moments, but there are only handfuls where the surrounding crowds hold their breath and all you hear is the clicking of cameras. Everything begins to move in slow motion because for just a few seconds everyone’s energy is pointed towards this starlet on the red carpet, and at that very moment she is the embodiment of everything glamorous that ever was. In my career I have had the opportunity to work with a lot of amazing women who have had such moments, but one of my favorite red carpet moments was in 2009 at the Cannes Film Festival. Eva Longoria stepped onto the red carpet wearing a Versace Atelier gown and an iconic red carpet moment was born.
Not that you would take the Dress ShopStyle Quiz, but if you did what style profile would you be?
Any profile that has the word chic in it because chic is what everyone wants to be. Whether it’s chic sophisticate, chic and sassy, or sporty chic – chic is the corner stone of everything that is super stylish.
What is your favorite dress silhouette for the modern woman?
Believe it or not, a caftan is the perfect dress for the modern woman. It can be worn with sandals or with a fabulous wedge. Whether it’s belted or just hanging lose, it’s the right balance of sophisticated and casual, and is always glamorous.
If women could only have one dress in our closet for the rest of our lives, what dress should it be (beyond the LBD)?
I don’t think there is a more flattering dress on a women than the wrap dress. It’s best in a four-way stretch jersey and it’s most versatile in black, although it comes in other materials, colors, and patterns. With the slightest change, adding or losing a jacket, changing a shoe and popping the look with some bling, this dress can take you from day to night, work to weekend, and all around the globe.
When styling, what is your go-to accessory item that every woman must own to complete her look?
Sunglasses of course! Sunglasses are the only accessory that can transform any woman into a starlet.
Any tricks of the trade, “stylist secrets,” that you can share with all of us?
Alter everything, including your cheapest clothing. I would alter my underwear if it didn’t sound so crazy. Most of what you spend on any one item isn’t why it looks good. It’s how it fits you that makes you look like a million bucks. I’m also a big fan of accessories because I think they can personalize a look and make it uniquely individual. So the secret is to have more accessories than clothes.
