Matthew mining turquoise 300x225 Shivan Sarna: Discover the Magnificence of Turquoise During the Gem Artistry Event on April 7th

Matthew mining turquoise

Turquoise was one of the first gems ever to be used in jewelry over 3,000 years ago. Can you just imagine seeing that magical color peeking out at you from a hill of brown rock? It must have made anyone walking by stop, look and dig.

Ever since its first discovery, it has enchanted us as a people. No matter where it was originally found, turquoise has traveled the globe in some of the most casual, rustic jewelry to the most ornate.

Matthew Foultz of Heritage Gems

The Gem Artistry Event on April 7th is anchored by a Today’s Special from Heritage Gems by Matthew Foutz and his “mad, genius” brother, Ryan. (Matt said I could quote him on his brother’s unofficial title.) They are 5th generation Turquoise experts. Their great, great grandfather had a trading post and traded with Native Americans, cut and set Turquoise, and the rest is history in the making.

On April 7th we are going to make a bit of history ourselves. The Today’s Special will be an amazing chance to finally get Sleeping Beauty Turquoise for your collection. The designs that Heritage Gems brings are inspired by the brother’s time providing ultimate quality stones for one-of-a-kind custom orders to jewelers in Europe.

In the Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Mine, there are different grades and colors of rough material. Matthew calls them Classic Blue, Imperial Blue, and White Cloud. There is almost no Iron in Sleeping Beauty Turquoise. The more Aluminum and Copper the more blue. The more Iron, the greener your Turquoise is going to be.

The cache of material used in this Today’s Special has been millions of years in the making, and 3 years to collect once it was discovered!

We also have new designs and stories from the drama/sapphire queen Sima K,  and My Precious Rainbow by EFFY with Arun Bassalali.
