Refresh Your Home for 2010
It’s February, and whatever New Years’ resolutions we made have either taken effect or been completely forgotten. Why do we always make promises that are so hard to keep anyway? Instead, I’m going to focus on the ones I followed through with, leaving those perfect abs for next month.
One promise I kept – move into a new home (admittedly, this was partly pre-planned), and bring with me only the things I love, finding new homes for things I don’t need. From plates and napkin rings to scarves and flip flops, moving to a new home gives you the opportunity to edit, re-edit, and then edit some more. The truth is though, couldn’t we all stand to weed out some of those unnecessary or unused possessions-especially when I hear from shelters as far north as Chicago that planes carrying survivors from the earthquake in Haiti are arriving every day and in desperate need of clothing, coats, suitcases and shampoo?
So, I challenge you to do what I did – move or not. Look around your homes, collect what you no longer like/need/wear and consider how it can make an impact on the immediate future of someone who is in need. This is a great time to do it. The bonus? Your rooms will feel fresher, and you can focus on making changes in your home that will lead to a greater sense of calm and peace.
Live well,
Nate

Hi Nate
I have never previously posted to anyone’s blog. A while back I purchased one of your quilt (one that resembles a cargo blanket). I love it. Are you ever going to bring it back?
Thank you.
Nate, I really want to buy your sheets, however, I have a split, King-size Sleep Numbers bed with the elevating base. A set of sheets for me has to be two extra-long fitted sheets and one King size sheet. Is there anyway to buy sheets separately and not in a set? Also, I need two extra-long twin size bedskirts. Will you ever sell bedskirts separately? I have a set of sheets on order now, but I just hate not being able to use the fitted sheet.
Please bring back the 600TC Perfectly Warm Sheet Sets, I want more, more, more! These are my favorite sheets you have ever done! Would love to see you do them in the color black! Also, please consider doing a meet & greet sometime when you are in the Tampa Bay Area, would love to meet you in person!
Hi Nate, I love all you have to offer…I especailly love watching you & Callie presenting together…I do have to agree w/Ruth on the fact that not just you, but all vendors feel that when ordering in Twin we only need one pillow case…Especially when we are paying the same price as the larger sizes… ? for you: Is Nate your given name or is it short for Nathan or Nathanyel? I’m just curious because I’m going to name my first son Nate ;0)
Love you, Traci
I just bought the 5×8 Taos rug. Should I put a pad under it?
I love the items you have brought to HSN. I am a collector of Thai & Malaysian textiles & have used your ikat items to extend my decor & protect some of my very old specimens. However, I was appalled to receive several items today that
were packed like Russian nesting dolls. I am sure that you have nothing to do with packing items but I think that you should be aware that the Amhad 3 piece collection comes packaged w/8 boxes, several of which are actually empty! Please
revisit the packaging.Thx!
Hi Nate-
I love and have so many of your things. I just saw you on HSN and ordered many of your new things. I did have a few suggestions..I hope you don’t mind. I feel I am getting to know more of your design style, and I think you should design more rugs of all sizes. I love the designs you have out now, and I think people are really identifying you with great textiles of all kinds. Another idea I had was designing some bright cotton, tablecloths in the retro style, but with your twist.
Nate, My husband and I have just bought our first home and I have done what you asked. Everything that I did not want or need I have donated. The problem now is that I love everything you have brought to HSN but I have no idea how to put it together. Any basic ideas?
I loved your 3 sided headboard with the nailheads. But, I want a Cal King or King size. Are you going to make this size? I just loved it.
Nate, I know what a stickler you are for quality, detail and accuracy so I am guessing that it makes you a little crazy (and me a LOT crazy) to hear the show hosts refer to a duvet cover as a DUVET!!! You could tell them that a comforter IS a duvet off air or you could just continue to refer to it as a duvet cover, hoping they will catch on but I honestly, have to turn the show off when they continually do that because it’s a nails on the chalkboard moment for me.
Love you. Love your spirit.
Nate,
I love your sheet sets. They look fabulous and come in my colors (purples & grays). However, I cannot order them. Please, please add extra long sizes to your line. I have a Craftmatic bed that consists of two extra long twin mattresses that are next to each other. Extra longs are now sold in most stores to accommodate dorm beds. You might be surprised at the size of this customer base. Thank you.
Love the idea of your sheets. Please rething the width size. I need 96 inch to fit my queen with a pillowtop and feather bed
In these challanging times, it is such a pleasure to watch a fellow designer bring a tasteful, quality line to HSN that excites the viewers about their environment again, witness him then actually tell the truth about each product’s value and potential use, and inspire even those of us now struggling to remain in the same business that a good designer’s real job is to teach each and every client about the value of their life through their surroundings. GO Nate!
Nate, I watched you today. Where were the brass and etched glass candle holders/hurricanes which were featured with you in the February Program Guide? They were glass and brass, looked like two different styles. When will they be available? Thank you, love you.
Nate, I continue to love my 600 tc sheets from October. Please bring them back! I love my sconces, candles, towels and especially my morracan mirror.I bought another down alt. comforter to have as a back up.Keep the wonderful items coming. You are always a joy to watch.
Hi Nate, I was watching the TS today, and I really wanted the down alternative comforter. My comforter I have on now is 92X96, so I was a bit disappointed to see yours was 88×96. I have a comforter that is chocolate with beige and slate blue stripes. I was wanting to get the citrus yellow sheet set for a pop of color to my room, what color would you suggest? Can you please in the future make your queen comforter 92×96? Thank you so much. I love watching you. Lisa
Nate darlin’, love you and your stuff, especially the candles. one bone to pick though, why do you and other vendors assume buyers of twin sheet sets only have need for one pillow case? especially when we’re paying the same price as king sets. I’ll be watching. Ruth
Hi Nate,
I have been watching hoping that you would have brought back those woven baskets..Are you planning on bring them back,or that was a one time only thing??????
I work in a Bridal Registry for a major retailer. Any thoughts on starting a Registry? It would be a new format that engaged couples would love.
I have been looking for a solid colored comforter like your TS in taupe. Also, would love to have pillow shams. Thanks. My mother used to have trouble getting my younger brother to go to school every morning too. He would pitch a fit and cry and my mother was a push over and let him stay home a lot. I would just laugh at him and of course I had to go to school. He was the baby of the family and I think my mom’s favorite! lol
Nate, thank you for sharing your travels with us via your inspired designs.
I have a color palette question. I’ve always been drawn to nature’s colors, and subsequently have a current color palette dominated by browns and greens. I’ve recently fallen in love with shades of gray, but I don’t know how to combine grays with browns and greens. I’d be honored to have your guidance.
