The Queen of Gems: Ethiopian Opal
The beauty of Tucson captures me alone. The Tucson Gem show was a big hit and I am preparing new designs for the second half of 2012. I have many new gems and many new stories to share. My most favorite gem, the Ethiopian Opal, is a gem that will not be hard to fall in love with.
The origin of the opal is volcanic. It’s a very royal gem and reminds me of the Greek and Roman times. The Ethiopian opal was discovered in 2008 from Wolo, about 450 miles outside of the Ethiopian capitol. This area produces material that is stable and available in a wide range of colors- white, blue, yellow, pink, red, brown, green and so on.
Ethiopian opal is almost the only gemstone that has such a diverse, brilliant and natural color. I find it to be such an uplifting and beautiful stone.
Stay tuned for my new collection that will launch with this tantalizing gem!
