New Surprises from Jay King Just in Time for the Holidays
Update: We are very sorry to inform you that the Mesquite boxes will not be offered during Jay’s December visit. Due to unforeseen circumstances they will not be available until 2011. Happy Holidays! –Jay King and his Mine Find’s Team
Well, here it is December 1st, and the start of all our holiday madness. I have to say for the very first time in my life I’m prepared for it. I was home for the month of November; this is the first time in a long time that I have stayed in one place for this long. The great thing was it gave me a chance to get caught up and ready for the holiday season. The house is decorated inside and out. Christmas cards are all mailed out, and I have purchased or made the majority of the gifts I’m giving this year. I’m usually out shopping on Christmas Eve, and wrapping things that night. So I am feeling like I have really accomplished a lot.
I’m back on the road this month, and I am already having lots of fun designing and working with my design team. We have to work so far in advance. I’m designing for spring and fall of next year now and it takes some concentration to stay on track.
I want to thank everyone who tuned in for my short November visit, and made it a huge success. I want to congratulate everybody who finally got a bowl. I know they have been slow coming but we’ve been trying our best to produce as many as possible. Which leads me into the December show…I’ve got something truly special to offer you. This is brand spanking new for us: a one-of-kind handcrafted wooden turquoise inlay box. It is made using South Texas Burlwood Mesquite. This is the most sought after material used in these types of projects. It is extremely hard and has a wonderful graining to it. We’ve inlayed it with genuine Kingman turquoise. Each one is lovingly made in Texas by individual artists. You can’t get anymore “made in America” than this. The materials and the labor are all done in America. I hope you love it, because I have so many more designs that will be coming your way next year.
I’m so excited about the December event I can’t sit still. I’m really excited about everything we will be featuring. I have a wonderful Today’s Special coming up. It features two of my favorite natural materials that I work with. Without spilling the beans I will tell you it has taken over a year to pull this one off, and I think there will be a huge response to it. It’s a great value and wonderful look with great matching accessories. It will launch on December 18th at midnight EST. I hope you can take the time to tune in and check it out. It’s the buy of a lifetime and the very first time I’ve ever been able to do anything like it at such a remarkable price.
We also have lots of clip-on earrings in dangle styles with mixed rough materials–this is a viewer request. If you’ve always wanted sugalite, this is your chance to own some of the finest quality sugalite available in the world. We’ll have eighty seven new designs that have never been seen before.
So, if you have time, please tune in and see us. We start Saturday morning, December 18th at 12:00 midnight EST and finish up on December 20th at 5:00pm EST.
Safe travels,
Jay

Did I miss the turquoise bowl? Is there a way to be notified when they are available?
Mr. King, my wife and I love your items. About a year ago you had black opal from Honduras. Is there any change of you offering this stone again in your line? It was really interesting.
Glenn
Sorry can’t get it anymore working on material from Australia and Ethiopia. Best regards J
I’m sorry yes we sold out the majority before the show. Just watch the blog and I’ll tell you when we’ll have the next ones available Happy New Year J
Sorry you can see my comment below. Just watch the blog each month and I’ll let you know when we will have more. Best J
Jay, I also wanted you to know that it really cheered me up, and made my day, after receiving your beautiful S. A. Cloudy Sandstorm and Tropical Amazonite Necklaces! I love butterflies, flowers, and hearts. I look forward to wearing all of your pieces of jewelry—a different piece each day—including these two beautiful pieces very often. Hopefully, we will all get over this bad virus very soon! Take care, have fun, and please be safe in your travels.
Hi sorry to hear you’ve been sick. Glad you got what you wanted from the show Thanks for all the support. Happy New Year. J
Anyway, Jay, I wanted to let you know that I had received your beautiful S. A. Cloudy Sandstorm Necklace on 12/24/10, but I had to return it because it was broken when I received it. I exchanged it for another one, and it is just as beautiful as the other one—only it is all in one piece (laugh). I just love it! I also received your gorgeous Grad. Tropical Amazonite Necklace today. Boy, that H.S.N. Shipping Dept. is really efficient. I am really impressed!
Really, though, my husband is a wonderful person, and very understanding. He also has patience of steel (laugh). He is still rough. We have been pretty much surviving on tea and soup for our rough conditions. My throat is so sore, and I can hardly talk, but I have to answer the telephone when I am at home or at work. You would never recognize me by my voice. I don’t even sound like myself. This virus is going around all over in Florida. Some of my husband’s patients have come down with it too.
Hi Jay. I hope you are fine. Unfortunately, I and my family are not. We caught a very bad respiratory infection from our son, Chris, last week. He is just starting to recover from it after having it for about two weeks. I developed a mildly sore throat, and then it got worse before the New Year Holiday. I am still rough, and my throat is so sore yet. My husband, Curt, got it on Jan. 1, and on Jan. 2, he got laryngitis! It was nice not to hear him talking for a while (laugh)!
Hi Jay, it’s me again!!! You got to play a very important role in my life…my 30th wedding anniversary! My amazing husband surprised me with the Black Rock Sequoia necklace. It is so stunningly beautiful and is the perfect anniversary gift! I might have to drop some hints about the matching earrings for Valentine’s Day! Have a wonderful New Year overflowing with blessings!
Thats why you’ve been married so long. He’s one smart guy in my opion. Thanks for the support Happy New Year. J
I received the Hunan Sunray Stone necklace from you & love it. Any chance of getting earrings or a bracelet?
To you and your staff: Have a wonderful New Year!
Happy New Year. Glad you like it. I’m out of rough now but I’m working on getting more. Best J
Hey there Jay. Great show again in December. So do you know yet what dates you will be in Tucson for the gem show and at what venues. Would like to give you a shout out while I am there. Thanks.
Right now I’m looking at arriving on Jan. 30th and leaving on the 10th of Feb. I’m going to be going fast a furious this trip. I’m even taking one of the Harleys this year so parking won’t be an issue. The opening day of Electric Park is a good time to run into me. I’ll be there most of the day. Happy New Year. J
Hey Jay, I was there on Jan 30 at Electric Park but unfortunately couldn’t find you oh well maybe next year.
Dear Jay, A note to wish you a Happy New Year and tell you that your butterscotch amber necklace from your last visit is incredibly unique and beautiful. Love that it is knotted. Could you do more of your neckpieces with knots, please. Increases the perceived value, I believe. I’ve purchased several amber pieces from you, including the large amber and turquoise beads (a gallery piece, you called it) last year. I’m crazy about amber and buy only from you because I trust you, Jay. Thanks!
Hi Jay, I hope your Christmas was good. My mom and me would like to see a large silver blue lace agate pendant/necklace and the same in a larimar would be good too. Some larger matching earrings would be great. Your earrings are nice, but usually kind of small compared to the large pendant/necklaces you offer, which I love and by many of. Thanks. Happy New Year!
Take care,
Peg
Happy New Year. I’m working on a new blue lace material as we speak. As always thanks for the inout. Best J
I’m glad you like it. I don’t do knots usually because of the Soft Flex I use doesn’t knott well. I’m working on more designs now. The trick is to get great quality and keep the price down. You’ll see more this year. Happy New Year. J
So Jay, for Christmas I did get my Yellow Opal, Tiger’s Eye star necklace and I don’t like it! I absolutely love it! It’s truly beautiful. Thanks Jay!
Happy New Year you almost stopped my heart. Very Funny. Glad you loved it. Best J
I’m glad your heart did not stop! It truly is a beautiful piece
of art!
I would love give this five stars but I can’t comment since my husband bought it for me! We both have an account and it seems like I would be able to rate my gift!
Hi Jay! I LOVE your pieces, and have been collecting for many years now! But I have a question – I just purchased your rectangular turquoise ring with the open heart band. During the show, you had said this was redskin turquoise – but the product page describes it as Anhui turquoise. I’m confused – what is the source of this turquoise? Thanks again – and keep up the beautiful work!
It comes from the Red Skin Mine. It’s an old mine started during WWII and is over 1000 feet underground now. You’ve seen film of me going down ito it. It’s in Anhui Province one of several in the area. It is some of the finest turquoise available now and very limited and exspensive. Happy New Year. J
Hello Jay,
I am brand new to your line of jewelry. I bought the amber and anhui turquoise sterling ring and bracelet. But, the 18″ necklace is not available, I really would like to get it for my mother for the holidays because it is very hard to please her but when she saw the ring and the bracelet I saw a twinkle in her eye. I knew that she wanted it. So, please let me know how can purchase it.
Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner. I’ve been on holiday and was not able to get on the net. Unfortunetly we don’t have anymore inhouse at this time, but I do have things that will work coming up. Say Hi to your mom for me. Best J
Hi Jay:
I was lucky to get your black agate with the silver beads in the shape of a cross on a multi-strand liquid silver necklace with black beads…..and the matching earrings. When I opened the box it took my breath away…I have received many compliments and I love it!!!! Thanks again!!!!
Happy New Year. Thanks you made my day. I’m glad you like it. It was designed for those who wanted something differant but not so big. I loved the design. Best J
Hi Jay;
First, can you remember that some of us are rather petite and have a hard time wearing some of your jewelry. I’ve had to send back some beautiful pieces because they are just too bulky for someone my size. Also I have a 6″ wrist (tight), I don’t like cuffs and bangles so all I have are Honora Pearl stretch bracelets. Almost all of your bracelets are 8″ – way too big. And could you please make some of your beautiful pendants sold seperately as enhancers. I love your jewelery.
Hi Jay
I hope your holidays were great. I purchased the men’s turquoise ring #558-291 in Oct for my husband. He loves the ring but this morning one of the stones fell out. It looks like the stones were glued to the silver. What can we do? If we replace it with another ring the same thing could happen again. Please give me some insight on what we can do about this ring.
I’m so sorry this happened to you. Just so you know I personally garantee all my work. Just go to HSN Customer Service site. Look up Jay King. It will tell you how to send us your personal info. We will contact you and take care of you no charge. We hand set each stone and burnish the bezel. As an added safety measure we use a special resin developed for us by 3M to also set the stone. I’ll make sure your taken care of J
We do make alot of enhancers now that are sold seperately. With the cost of silver being what it is we are even making more as stand alone pieces. We are designing alot more petite designs, a size six in a bracelet is very small but some of our cuffs do go down that far. Have a wonderful holiday. Best J
As always I do listen to you and I’m making smaller designs. We have been selling stand alone pendants and enhancers as of late. I will be doing this on a on going basis. Thanks for yor interest. Best J
Hi Jay:
I am 5 feet tall and I own many of your pieces, especially your necklaces with the pendants. The bigger the better. When wearing one of your pieces, the clothing should be simplified to showcase your pieces. I get compliments EVERY time I wear your jewelry. Please continue to create substantial pieces. They are absolutely stunning.
thanks for listening.
jay please bring back the allunite yellow colored earrings.i have the necklace and bracelet.please!!!! i loveeee all of your finds.
I’ll make a note of it. I’ll have to see if I have anymore rough. Thanks for the interest. Happy Holidays. J
Hi Jay,
Loved your December show. I bought the Phosphosiderite necklace and earrings, the turquoise necklace #101-280, and put myself on waitlist for the Sugilite and sleeping beauty nugget necklace. I have a question on the turquoise beads #101-280. The description says it’s Anhui turquoise, but when you and Connie presented it in the video, you called it Kingman turquoise. Can you tell me which it is? It certainly is gorgeous, no matter which it is. Thanks!
I’m sorry if I didn’t identify it correctly. We had so many sell outs we put things into the show last minute. I had written Kingman. It is Anhui. Thanks for the question. Happy Holidays. Best J
Merry Christmas to me!!! I just got my boxes today! I really made the most of your December shows! It was the best show overall that I’ve seen in the couple years that I’ve been watching/collecting you. I’m very curious about the new, young designer that you mentioned in reference to the multigem y necklace (101233). I am IN LOVE with it and wished that I had gotten the amethyst variety as well. It feels so great to wear! Let her bring more to your beautiful stones and gems…please! :)
We are always looking for new designs, artists, and materials. This women has an unusual eye for color, so I look forward to seeing more from her in the near future. Best J
Your December shows were great! Got the TS & matching earrings and also got the pendant with the Kingman turq. with bronze matrix. Love that!! Hope there are plans for earrings in the future! Have a wonderful holiday with your loved ones.
Thanks I’ve got earrings coming up. Thanks for the support. Have a wonderful holiday. Best J
Jay,
Love your jewelry–especially turquoise, amber, amethyst, wearing five pieces minimum daily–3 necklaces, earrings, ring(s) and still want more, e.g. moonstone.
In the future, I’d like: (1) an extender that can be added to current necklace extenders, (2) pins or pin/pendant combos, (3) magnetic products that are longer, so as to have a long necklace and bracelet combo that don’t have to be combined for an ideal length.
Please advise if these ideas are feasible. Thanks.
Joan
They are all fesiable and I’ve already started working on some of these ideas. I’m designing up a storm now so I’ll note your ideas. Happy Holidays. J
Hi Jay:
I have been a fan for the past year and I absolutely love, love your pieces. So substantial and absolutely gorgeous. I have purchased several of your pieces. I set my alarm to watch you on HSN last weekend @ midnight and I purchased your Dentric Sage Pendant. This piece had a free moving bale (i own 4 other similar pendants and they are all solid – non flexible). I don’t really like the free moving bale as it seems fragile. How long are they guaranteed if the bale breaks off?
Just so you know I will guarantee my designs for as long as I’m in the business. I repair things all the time. So if you have a problem let me know and I’ll tell you how to procede. Have a Happy Holiday J
Jay, may you and your entire jewelry team have a very Happy Christmas, and a Merry, and another successful New Year—2011! I hope you will be able to relax a little bit, and enjoy the company of your family and friends while you have this precious window of opportunity before you have to venture out on the road to finding new Mine Finds and new adventures again which I know you thoroughly enjoy! Whatever you do, and wherever you may be, please be safe in your travels. Take care.
Thanks I’ve had a wonderful time with my children and now it’s time to get back to work. I’ve read all your e-mails. Thanks for your interest and support. Happy Holidays J
Thank your Jay for your response. My mailman delivered two more of your pieces today :) My husband asked me if it is still Christmas. Good to know that you stand behind your pieces of art. Thanks and Happy New Year to you and your team.
Hi Jay. You and your team have such a God-given talent for designing and making your jewelry into works-of-art, and I know that every piece is made from the heart—a real labor-of-love profession! Here is a challenge for you. Could you get a nice piece of Malachite rough (S.A.),like the piece that you showed on Mon., Dec. 20, and a nice piece of Peach Steatite (Mong./China) while you are in the Mongolia and Northern China area, after the holidays, for me? I would love to have them. Thanks much!
Hi Jay. I was able to watch every Show on your Mine Finds Holiday Celebration last weekend except for one on Sat., Dec. 18, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. (E.T.), because I had to go food shopping. You and your jewelry team are so phenomenal! You had so many awesome new pieces to show!It was very difficult for me to decide which piece or pieces I wanted to buy as I have to stay within my minimum payment range. I was able to buy four different pieces from your incredible collection. Take care.
Why is there always a turquoise colored bowl on the set by you when you are on? I am GUESSING that you are putting water on the stones to bring out more color, but I’ve been known to be wrong before. LOVE your jewelry, just need more money to buy more. Thanks.
I use it to store my stone samples funny enough. I rotate them each hour. That way I don’t have to keep getting down to grab a sample. Thanks for your interest. Happy Holidays J
Hi Jay, I’m a new fan of HSN, started shopping about 3 months ago. Both a blessing and a curse as I have loved everything I have ordered. I watched you for the first time this weekend, I too enjoy the stories you tell about the pieces because it makes them more special to own. I’ve never owned freefrom stones before, this will be my first purchase. Looking forward to my amber/tourq and malch
necklaces. Happy Holly days
Welcome aboard. I hope you’ll continue to shop with us and see the new designs we have coming. Have a wonderful Holiday. Best J
