National Craft Month: Create Home Decor with Your Cricut Machine

Submitted by Jinger Adams on March 8, 2011 – 4:23 PM2 Comments

Hi my crafty friends!

I hope you are enjoying the projects and ideas I’ve shared. It’s been so much fun guest blogging for HSN and I hope you visit frequently to get inspiration and ideas.

When the weather starts changing from cold and gray, to warm and sunny, I get the urge to redecorate. I like to freshen up my office, my craft room, and my home with the hottest colors and patterns; but I don’t like to spend a lot of money on décor.

With Cricut, staying current on trends and updating your spaces doesn’t have to cost a lot or take a lot of time. Cricut was first introduced as a scrapbooking product in 2006 (happy 5th anniversary, Cricut!) and it certainly revolutionized what level of creativity we could achieve with preserving memories. But Cricut can do so much beyond scrapbooking. We’ve already shown you cards and cutting fabric, so let’s take a look at a fun idea for home décor. Wouldn’t this look great hanging in your guest bedroom, office, or craft room?

For this project I wanted a wall hanging that I could easily tie in with the color scheme of the rest of my living room. I found the green tin background for around $10 at my local craft store. Then I chose some patterned paper that had all the colors found in my room. It was an easy and fun project to create. Now, don’t be discouraged if you can’t find this exact background in your area. There are many creative alternatives. Grab a piece of 8×8 or 12×12 canvas at your local craft store, and paint it the color you want it to be. Another beautiful alternative would be to place the flower cut-out right on the outside of the glass on a frame, and then hang the frame, for a whimsical look.

Much Love,

Jinger

P.S. Be sure to check out the Cricut Expression bundle available at HSN. You get the machine plus four cartridges (Formal Occasions, Florals Embellished, Simply Charmed, and 3-Bird’s Life’s a Party). It’s such a great bundle to get you started! Also, don’t forget to tune in March 7 and see Cricut Expression live on air at HSN!
