Our Lapis Inlay Scalloped Bowl Is Now Available on HSN.com!

Submitted by Jay King on October 16, 2012 – 8:27 AM100 Comments

Blog Lapis Bowls 3 300x218 Our Lapis Inlay Scalloped Bowl Is Now Available on HSN.com!Hey all,

I have exciting news to share! Our much anticipated Lapis Inlay Scalloped Bowl is now available on HSN.com. Our artisans have done another superb job inlaying the material and once again creating unique, one of a kind items.

The unique properties of Lapis are so evident and I love how the different natural tones of the material are represented in each bowl.  The silhouette of this bowl has the perfect degree of drama to host the lapis inlay. This really is one of my favorite design concepts. Seeing it completed and available for all of our “family of followers” is like getting an unexpected gift.

Thank you for allowing me to share some of my feelings on this bowl. You know me, I can’t contain my excitement most of the time.  I didn’t want to wait to “chat” with you about it, because indications are that the bowl will be sold out before I am on air again later this month.

Safe travels,

Jay

Here’s an idea for you. I have an vintage bead necklace of malachite and carnelian that I adore & would love to see your version of it! Those materials might be hard to come by these days, but can you design something with that combo of strong colors? It would be a great Holiday design (for 2013)!

Thanks for all the treasures you find for us. I feel like a royal monarch & you’re my personal explorer! Go forth and bring back the gems!

    • Jay King says:

This past trip I meet with one of my main contacts in central Africa. I was able to buy some really nice malachite rough so I can design something pretty cool. The Congo where the best rough comes from is really dangerous at this point in time so the prices now are just crazy. We were able to get this at a reasonable price but I don’t know if you will see much in the near future. I have zero carnelian right now but I have many sources so I’ll see what can be done. Thanks for the idea. Best J

Jay, I just have a few more comments. Please let me know if you find out any other info. about the area of Guatemala where our new Mine Find is located. I am looking forward to seeing you again on your upcoming Shows which will be on H.S.N. on Sat., Nov. 24, and hearing about some more of your interesting adventures! Please watch out for those venomous snakes while on your rock-hounding journeys. Take care and stay safe wherever you may be. (L.O.L.) Carol

  • preciouswood says:

Jay, Because of this earthquake that struck Guatemala today, and because of the area being somewhat dangerous,I don’t know if it would really be safe for you and your film crew to go down there to check on our new Mine Find, and other new Mine Finds, sometime in Dec. or Jan. when you are planning to go down in that area. Please let me know if you are still planning a trip to this area.If you are still planning to go, please contact me before you leave as I have a little more info.about it for you.

  • preciouswood says:

Hi Jay, I hope you are okay. I hope you got a kick out of my surprise Birthday gift I sent to Stacie in Sept. to hold for you. Regarding that new Mine Find that I found for you that happens to be in Guatemala, I was so shocked to find out tonight that, of all places, there was a 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck there today! And the Fuego Volcano, which is only 6 miles southwest of Antigua, has been getting a little active this year. This area is pretty primitive, and is a little dangerous.

  • preciouswood says:

Jay, I just have one more comment to make. You had mentioned on your last Show that you have some family members whose birthdays are in November. Very coincidentally, so do I. Both my husband and our son, Chris, are November babies! They can be somewhat fussy and demanding with things at times, but I try to be accommodating and take care of their needs as best I can, and as time will allow me. :0) (As you already know, I am a May baby.) Take care. (L.O.L.) Carol

  • preciouswood says:

Jay, Even though I couldn’t resist buying a few too many of your gorgeous new pieces last month, fortunately, my credit card balance is still under control, and I am gradually paying it down, but it does take a while. Very fortunately, I am not in any trouble, financially, yet, as I do watch it pretty carefully.I will try to write some nice Reviews about some of your beautiful new pieces that I bought when I can. Enjoy your time at home now while you can. Take care, and stay safe. (L.O.L.) Carol

  • AliceE says:

    Hi Jay–
I was among those who was going to be self-controlled and not buy anything this time. Well–I ended up buying 10 pieces–the most ever in one weekend!! I’m trying to write down info on every piece, because I hope to hand them down someday. I have your springbok stone necklace which I bought about a year ago and LOVE–the weight and feel of the stones, and the way it works with the browns in my wardrobe. My question is, what mineral is it? Thank you, and keep up the great work!

    • Jay King says:

I’m glad you saw things you loved in October just hope your not getting into trouble. It was an amazing Anniversary show and really made my day. Sprinbok is a jasper from South Africa and is named for the gazelle in the local area the has the same colors as this natural rough. Thanks for your support. Best J

  • preciouswood says:

Jay,I ended up buying six additional “must have” pieces that includes your beautiful 2012 Heart Ornament with part of the proceeds going toward the St. Jude Research Hospital for Children. You are wonderful, Jay,and you have a big heart! That Ornament is so-o-o-o cute, and really awesome!I just love it! Please contact me regarding our new Mine Find before you leave for the Caribbean in Dec. or Jan. because I have some add’l. info. that will be helpful to you. Take care and stay safe. (L.O.L.) Carol

  • preciouswood says:

Jay, I enjoyed watching you, listening to your interesting stories, and seeing many of your new pieces. You really out-did yourself again, Jay. You, and your jewelry are really phenomenal! I thought I would be able to discipline myself this time and not buy anything as I had already bought a few of your new pieces a week before your Shows, and I didn’t want to increase my credit card balance too much. Well, so much for that idea which went right out the window! (Laugh) (To be con’t.)

  • preciouswood says:

Hi Jay, Yes,we have both—you and I, been thru some pretty bad hurricanes in the past and I also know how it feels.I can really feel the people’s heartache and pain. It is so devastating to go thru a horrendous storm like this, and what’s even worse is having to lose a loved one in the duration yet.You can never get over the loss of a loved one, but all you can do is try to accept it,over time, and try to get on with your life as best you can. I was able to watch most of your Shows last weekend.

    • Jay King says:

My heart goes out to all the people in the NE. It’s funny but little things in life we take for granted like hot food, hot water, electricity really hit home when you don’t have them. The show was great the best ever, just don’t get yourself into trouble money wise. That would break my heart. Take care thanks for the birthday wishes you sent Stacie. J

      • greenglass says:

Thank you for your concern. Sandy really is NJ/NY’s Katrina. People here appreciate the out of state Red Cross volunteers. Very impressive. … On another subject…do you plan on making j hoop earrings in the copper with amber inlay? I now have all three of the beautiful inlay bracelets and the matching j hoop earrings for the turquoise and the coral. It would be great to also have the amber earrings. Aldonna in New Jersey

  • sanfran says:

Jay, I see you have been replying tonight on the blog entries-I have your crazy lace agate, but I can’t match it up with other pieces because they are so unique. Will you bring some more on air?As expected, the bowls are gorgeous! Well, now I’m saving for your coral branch bowl! I consider these items my personal Xmas presents to myself! And maybe my Feb. birthday present, too! Pls. bring more modern designs like the curly turquoise bangle and butterfly ones; can’t get them and the bowls, too!

    • Jay King says:

Hi sorry I’ll try and reply quicker to my blog. Sometimes I don’t have internet access most other times I get up real early and work all day and by the time I stop I just want to lay down some where. Funny Marty just delivered the coral bowls today and I QAed them myself with my team they are just fabulous and all made in the USA. Send me the stock number on what you are trying to match. I’ll see what I can do for you. Best J

  • LadyP61 says:

Jay, I’m one of those who prefer the more petite styles so keep them coming, please!
I also love CHALCEDONY, especially the greens and blues–can you bring us some of that?
One other suggestion: I’m seeing many designers using precious and semi-precious stone “slices” that are simply mounted in bezels. They are crazy-expensive even though the stones are far from gem quality. I was thinking that some of your material would lend itself to this type of design at a better price point. Thanks!

  • surfergirl55 says:

JAY- I purchased your rondelle shaped blue green beryl necklace mined in Russia. There was no TV presentation with it or video online. I have many of your pieces and get many compliments and part of the fun of owning them is telling people who like them interesting facts about them-I love to share the info. Is there anything you can tell us about this necklace and very unusual gemstone? Never ever saw a beryl of this beautiful color. Anything you can share would be appreciated. Thank you.

  • FourS4 says:

Jay, adding my best wishes on your anniversary. Your presentations are so unique and enjoyable. You never fail to warm my heart with the sincere way you present and talk about your “babies.” Among my most precious treasures are the first string of amber and turq beads you brought, petrified wood from the NW, vivid lapis and Sleeping Beauty, green opal, many more. Thank you for touching the lives of your viewers. Someone told you your talent for bringing His jewels to us was God’s gift. So true!

  • bigknanook says:

What a show! I have to scold you. I am your ring size 12 girl. I could not make up my mind, you had soooo many beautifully, priced right pieces. I did get the ts and the red coral 41″ necklace and 4 more rings and wanted alot more. I have metal allergies or I would have bought some copper also, they are so pretty. You really out did yourself. Thanks

  • MoreBling4Me says:

Hi Jay…Happy 17th anniversary! I love all your jewelry…but I am starting to believe that I may need to join a 12 step program for it :)

I have a lapis heart necklace in which the lapis heart detached from the pendent bail. Due to various moving issues I did not send it back in time for an exchange. I have heard that you will fix jewelry that your team has created. If this is true, how do I contact your team about what I need to do to get my necklace fixed? Thanks.

    • Jay King says:

One of the main reasons I started the blog was to address this issue. I will repair or take care of anything you bought from me no matter how long you’ve had it. If you have an issue just contact us and we will make sure your taken care of. Just go to HSN Customer service and enter my name it will tell you how to contact us directly in a secure manner. Best J

  • PIECH says:

    Jay,

I love everything I get from you. I have been with you since the beginning. I bought some copper things from you in the spring. I was wearing the ring at a wedding shower. And I used some hand sanitizer and it discolored the copper. Is there anything I can do to bring it back like it was?

    Jay,
I have been a fan for 17 years. One rec.,.. many of us who are fans love to hear your stories about the origin of the stones we are adopting. I have watched 9 hours of your visit this trip waiting to hear about the unusual Beryl ncklc that just sold out. I have never been sooooooo disappointed and turned-off, as I was tonight when the host cut you off and none of us got to hear about an unusal stone so rare. HSN needs to realize how much customers value YOUR explanations about the stones.

    • ADBI says:

I AGREE!! We all love to hear about his stories and the origins of the stones. After the show host cut him off, I cut her off and changed the channel, too bad too because I spend a lot on his shows. I’m glad others feel the same. I realize she,s nothing more than a sales person but JAY is the one that really sells the items he and his fellow elves bring to us. YOU GO JAY!!!

    • Jay King says:

I really hate it when I don’t get to talk about something I’m just on fire about, but it is a business and they have to keep it moving along. I found this while buying Russian amber and just went crazy for it. I thought it was blue chalcedony but GIA says Beryl. Best J

  • Sandy1956 says:

Hi Jay-Thank you for speaking with me today.I ordered the apitite earrings & necklace yesterday on line.Item numbers 213881 & 213883. The earring order showed on line but I didn’t see the necklace.I did a live chat on customer service and was assured it was in the system.I checked again today and it still wasn’t there.I was told there wasn’t any record of my ordering the necklace and it is sold out. Is there any chance you might have one that I could order? I’d appreciate anything you could do

  • sanfran says:

Hi, Jay! Can you tell me the source of the material you used on the green turquoise, blue turquoise and lapis inlaid stainless steel bowls?? I need to write it down! I’m enjoying your show tonight, and then will save and save for your late Nov. shows……do you have a bowl or box or something else like that for those shows?? I need to plan ahead! Got your TS with all parts, your turquoise and amethyst, your green ahui necklace (is that from China or Mexico?), and the lapis bowl, of course!

    • Jay King says:

Anhui is from China. The blue turquoise bowl is Red Skin, the green is Saddle Mountian. In November I’m releasing one of the coolest things I’ve ever done in a bowl. A branch coral bowl. It is only one of many new decor items I’ll be featuring Made in America. Thanks so much for all your support. Best J

  • ThePenDude says:

    Jay,
I’m a ultra-rock hound, so I love your bowls and jewelry pieces. I talk my mom into a lot of them(it doesn’t take much). So I’m getting jealous, could you make some cufflinks and mens band rings? That would be awesome!

  • caree355 says:

Jay, I wanted to thank you again for answering my call on the testimonial line when you visited on October 29th. It was a pleasure to chat with you. I was wondering besides the strawberry opal that I asked you about if you have enough rough to offer the petrified wood stone in a bowl? Also I was wondering about snake jasper and peanut jasper in a bowl? I know that Austrailia is being mined out of opal and diamonds but I was wondering about boulder opal as well.

    • caree355 says:

I know that you have made pieces before but I was wondering if any is coming back? Like I said I’m an October baby and a unique Opal fan. I was able to get that Mint green copper jewelry before sell out. It is beautiful. Those are the things I shop for, the unique and of course your beautiful designs. Thanks again for your crew, your designs and your courage to continue to go into some of the most dangerous parts of the world to bring us beautiful jewelry. You will always be my “rock star.”

    • Jay King says:

Please contact me directly. If you go to Customer Service and enter my name it will tell you how in a secure fashion. I made three petrified bowls when I was doing my original samples. Since this design is now retired I won’t be doing them anymore, but I’m sure we can help you out. I’m sorry you have to wait so long sometimes for us to take your call Best J

  • gemsnob says:

Jay I have a necklace I bought some time ago (lapis and turquoise collar necklace) one of the pieces of turqoise right in the center cracked in half. Can I send that to you for repair? If that is possible can you send me the address to ship it to. I have bought so many of your fabulous mine finds I had to order a custom jewelry armoire to fit everything!

  • Detroit55 says:

Hi Jay, I watch every time you’re on waiting for your drusy presentation. I’d love to have white drusy (preferably the kind that sparkles like fresh fallen snow), set in bronze, a substantial necklace, earrings, bracelet and ring. However, I know that whatever you bring will be quality & fabulous. I know I’m not the only one:-)

  • EVIKE says:

    Hi Jay!!
Happy Anniversary!! Can not say enough about the quality and design creativity of your pieces. Just wonderful! I own many pieces…..I bet over 100….haven’t actually counted.
I wrote you about a year ago asking about ribbon rock…anything in the works? You mentioned that you knew the owner of that mine. Just wondering….I keep watching but never see anything in this stone.
    Keep ‘em coming…take care. Eva

    • Jay King says:

Yes the owner is the same one who made the first turquoise bowls we had from Arizona. He only has a small amount now but I’ll contact him again and see if they have found more. Best J

      • janest says:

Jay Did you hint at having some more coral in the November and December shows? (without giving it all away) Also love that green opal!

And happy anniversary; I wish I had been watching 17 years ago with all those different types of coral, and to see the progression of styles. Do you remember the teacher who called in once and said she kept a booklet of every design you brought in? Very cool!

I am relatively new, only 3-4 years a fan. We hope to get to the Tucson Gem Show in 2013 or 2014!!

        • Jay King says:

Thanks yes I have more coral coming in November and in December. I have a coral bowl handmade in Arizona coming also made from branch coral they just came in today and are awesome. If you can make it to Tucson go to Electric Park in the mornings and good chances are I’ll be there, but I’m all over. Its great fun and lots to see. Best J

            Jay
You have talked about Vietnam and how it’s starting to open up to the rest of the world with its mineral wealth; just curious about how much time you’ve spent there and what types of materials are coming out of there. Our youngest son was adopted from Vietnam and when my husband went to pick him up in 1995 it was still pretty 3rd world. I guess that’s about the time you were starting at HSN!
