June is Pearl Month! And More Behind the Scenes at HSN
June is Pearl Month!
Starting June 1 we launch brand new astonishing natural beauties – the organic wonder that are PEARLS. They are the only gems that require no cutting or polishing before they can be set into your jewelry. That isn’t the only thing that sets them on their own pedestal. Their colors, the luster, the glow that is so feminine, pearls are a kiss and blessing from mother nature.
Pearls are the official gem of June. It is the birthstone for June and it is practically a requirement for brides, but in a new way. We will always adore our white classics, but the colors, shapes and sizes of these natural miracles are on the cutting edge of fashion now.
More than ever we are thinking about our natural resources and the seas. The water on our planet is a sacred resource that we so frequently take for granted, right? Recently I switched my commute so I could see more water on the way to work. It just makes you feel better. While I keep my eyes on the road, hope springs eternal for a dolphin sighting! Peal harvests have suffered in recent years due to climate changes, pollution (saying prayers for our Gulf please) and viruses. All of this plus pearls becoming the new classic darling of the designers has caused an increase in price and a huge demand on the larger sizes. The reason the larger sizes are so hard to come by at reasonable prices elsewhere is because they live in the water longer. The longer in the waters, the more issues they may face. We are working closely with the pearl farmers to bring you what we can at the fairest value for all parties concerned. As a result, you will have a chance to acquire a new color in a pearl – are you ready?
Coral color – how perfect for your tan whether it is from the sun or sprayed on! This is going to make you feel like you are just back from the islands. Ahhh – I am so ready to go. Then the next color development, wait for it…NAVY and in a JUMBO size, 11-12mm. So Palm Beach, Bird Key, Capri. For the first lady look (amped up) they are available in white too. Speaking of oversized – oh the pink! The pink pearls for my Host Pick on the 5th of June are divine – available here on HSN.com. Obsessed is just the beginning of my feelings for this necklace. It sold out in seconds when it made its tv debut. It is just back and so limited..
Our pearl event is an annual tradition at HSN and this year is my favorite one by far. You don’t need to be getting married, graduating or celebrating a communion, the jewelry is spectacular on its own. If you do happen to have one of those occasions to use as an excuse to enjoy the bounty, lucky you! But we are all lucking out because Sandy, our Buyer has been working it. The Today’s Special on June 1st is absolutely essential and the value is going to make it oh so attainable. It is pearls and more..then more!
More behind the scenes photos coming soon…
Big hugs, Shivan

Shivaun!
I have a request for a possible, upcoming jewelry show… Could you do an hour or so on the topic of Drusy? I have been researching it on my own, after buying about 5 rings/pendants from different designers, & it is hard to understand. I have learned that there are imitations out there that are almost impossible to identify. I would love a better education on this beautiful natural gem, along with more choices in all price ranges. Maybe also some Drusy sets? Thanks so very much!
Hi Shivan, I love all of your presentations, especially the jewelry ones. I wanted to tell you that I’ve noticed during several different shows that you consistently misuse the words preoccupy or preoccupied when you mean occupy or occupied. For example, you recently were selling a DVD player and you said … preoccupy your children instead of occupy your children.
Hi Shivan,
Love you and your presentations. You always educate me AND make me laugh–a great combo. I bought a couple pieces from Turia this visit. I already have some of her exquisite items and she is so beautiful. I do have one request (or question)–is Colleen still planning to blog? She hasn’t posted in quite a while. We love hearing from you AND her. Keep up the great work–we all enjoy you.
Shivan- I love watching you. You have a fabulous laugh and always so energetic and vibrant! I learn so much from watching you, even if I’m not interested in buying that particular product. You are a world of knowledge and information. I watch you longer than any of the other hosts. :)
Hi Shivan, I had a great idea for a knockout style necklace similiar to item #954-522. I was thinking about a necklace being made with coin pearls and then 3 large cut(east west) sapphire blue glass stones in the front would be so fabulous. I am a water sign and love pearls. I took the pearl class from GIA it was so fun. Thank you for allowing me to express my dream design. Love and blessings to you…. Sincerely, Robyn
Robyn – you are so creative! Great idea! I will let Sandy, our brilliant Buyer know. Thanks for shopping! Shivan
Shivan, I just received Jay King TS Kingman turquoise ring and was blown away by the deep rich blue color. But, most of the reviews I read on this ring concerned the sizing issue. I knew to size up, but feel badly for those who loved the ring but got the wrong size due to sizing discrepancy. I always have to order one size up. Please ask JK hosts to tell customers so they will not be disappointed. Thanks for your blog!!
Dear DJDeej – Thanks for your insight! It fit me perfectly at a size 7. I am glad to know your experience. I’ll keep it in mind for the future! Happy Summer! Thanks for watching and shopping!
Shivan you and Bill Green are the bomb(that means you are good)Please suggest to the powers that be to bring technibond in more of the white metals. Also please suggest to them to stop with all this costume jewelry. Thanks
Shivan — I loooove pearls, always have and you really articulated so well exactly why I love them! You’re the best! Love the behind the scenes photos too
Hi Teardrops! I will pass on your request for more white in Technibond! No problem! Thanks for saying hi. S
Jodi – I think I just submitted my reply to Teardrops in your space! Sorry! Still getting the hang of things! Thanks for your nice comments and watching! xo
