Holiday Glam: Carol Brodie’s Top Tips for Sparkling this Season
HOLIDAY GLAM: MY FAVORITE TIPS FOR LOOKING FABULOUS ALL SEASON LONG!!
Please join me on HSN on Saturday, Nov. 19th from 2-4a m and 1-3 pm ET.
You know the feeling… the calendar is starting to fill up. The office party, church party, cocktails with family and friends, a special night out or the pot luck holiday block party. It starts with Thanksgiving on November 24th and the party will continue through New Year’s Day. With some sparkling jewelry and simple beauty and styling tips, you can get your glam on in minutes and spend more time celebrating the season with family, friends and even me on HSN.
1. Glitter Glam Nail Polish for Holiday Manicures
|
|
Over the top, party-ready nails are coming up big for the holiday season. Did you know that you can layer your polish just like you layer your jewelry? Start with a pale pink or jewel tone polish and add a coat of sparkle (I love this confetti polish) over two coats of your favorite nail color. For a glamorous party look, add on my newest stackable rings because your hands should suggest you’ve never done anything more strenuous in life than lift a cocktail. Add on layers of pearls and gems and you are party perfect!
2. Go for Glow: Everyone Looks Gorgeous in Candlelight
|
|
|
Not everyone has a fireplace to sit around for that warm, low-lit atmosphere. Stock up on yummy candles (or glowing flameless) to brighten up your holiday décor. And why not illuminate your face by adding glow and sparkle with my newest goddess door knocker earrings or the perfect gemstone and diamond studs? A sparkling drop earring and pendant is my secret tip for adding glow to my face and décolletage all year long.
3. The Look: Cat-Eyes
Sophia Loren was fond of applying black liner slightly beyond her eyes, even angling the tip down subtly to accentuate her natural almond shape. Piles of mascara completed her signature va-va-voom look. Today’s cat-eye looks can be dark and vampish one moment, then refined and polished the next. The trick is in the angle of the flick—a straighter line conveys grace while a harder, curled edge is more rock and roll.
Once you create dramatic eyes, add on an evil eye for protection from those not-so-well-meaning holiday shoppers (you know the type… in the parking lot, on line for check-out, etc…)
4. Plan the Perfect Stay-Cation
|
|
I have perfected the art of the holiday stay-cation! Starting in early December, my secret obsession is Tan Towels — they give my winter white skin a golden glow. To balance stress, I meditate — conjuring of images of ocean breezes, golden warm sun and vibrant emerald green grass and breezy palm trees. Inspired by these wonderful wishes for sea foam and waves, I created my Caribbean Holiday collection. It features calm milky aqua, vibrant green agate and oceanic London blue topaz designs. This set is meant to capture the ease and breeze of a seaside holiday – no matter where your travels take you.
5. Color Crash Course – Purple Passion
This year I have replaced the traditional color holiday red, with everything in hues of lavender, violet and purple. It was the favorite color of Kings and Queens and it is considered the color of royalty. A mysterious color, purple is associated with both nobility and spirituality. Keep last year’s little black dress or pants suit and instantly update the look with a sophisticated splash of purple passion. Try a purple polish, instead of red… it is absolutely pure passion!!!!

HI CAROL,
Hoping this is not an inappropriate question. It has nothing to do with your jewelry line. However, i was admiring the kimono style tops you were wearing on HSN. Can you inform me of where i can purchase a similiar item? Those tops are beautiful. Just what i have been looking for, just cant seem to find them on-line or in the stores. Maybe i’m looking in the wrong places. Can you help? Thanks you for any info you can give.
CAROL! I am so looking forward to your shows on Sunday! I am so glad that they are not in the middle of the night! I seldom get to watch when they are. Seeing your jewelry live really shows their beauty more so than on .com. Right now I am checking every day hoping the Spinel/Diamond 36″ necklace comes back to go with my 16 1/2 black diamond 2 tone necklace (which is gorgous!) Would you consider making the Spinel/Diamond in a 18 or 24 inch?
Thank you and I am so looking forward to sharing the new collection with you. I never know what HSN will buy for future shows so I am going to suggest that you consider my new necklace (I know it is a bit pricey) but definitely worth it. Rarities: Fine Jewelry with Carol Brodie Black Spinel and Gemstone Sterling Silver 48″ Necklace Item: 153-945. They are perfect all layered together. Will you please send me a message via on Facebook and let me know what you think. xox
HI, I for sure have been looking at the necklace you are talking about and I so think it is beautiful and would LOVE to have it. Maybe someone will give me money for Christmas and there will be one left to order. I am not on Facebook yet (even though my son says I should be). I’m sure I will cave so eventually : )
: )
Carol-
Vermeil Diamond and Tourmaline bangle is lovely but I noticed HSN does not offer Buyer Protection Jewelry Policy for this item. If stones pop out or damage to metel work occures under normal wear and tear conditions after 30 day HSN return policy expires, who fixes this bangle? Do you have contact in NY area who may have rough cut Tourmaline and diamonds and knowledge in repairing this specific style jewelry? Any repair contact information would be most helpful. Happy Holidays
Valerie
Happy holidays Valerie. This is an Indian bangle (too die for) and it is all hand made. I have a good private jeweler in NYC who can fix anything. If you ever need it to be repaired, I can certainly ask him to do it as a favor. No worries — if you need it fixed, just send me a message on Face Book and I will get you a contact number. Have a beautiful weekend and please tune in on Sunday from 2 – 5pm. xoxo
Hi Carol,
One of my favorite pieces is the rose de france, blue topaz and diamond ring in gold you did awhile back….you know the one that was designed after a certain pop star’s engagement ring? I have it in the yellow gold and adore it! Can you tell me if you’ll ever do a matching necklace for it? Even if it were in vermeil I’d want it. I know you did earrings but I missed out on them but would love to have earrings too. Please let me know, xoxo Melissa
Hi Melissa,
Hope your holidays are going well. At this moment, I don’t have anything in the works, but there are so many pieces that would be amazing with the ring. I will start doing gold again when the prices start coming down to earth, but there should be some vermeil that will work nicely. I wish you the most wonderful holiday!!! Tune in on Sunday please… See you soon! Lots of love, Carol xox
Carol,I was so excited last Thursday and so disappointed today. Your smokey quartz and prasiolite checkerboard bracelet came available last Thursday and I jumped on it. I’ve been hoping some one would return it and I felt so lucky to be the one to pick it up. Today I looked to see when it would be delivered and it showed up as returned. I called CS and they said Monday when they went to fill the order it was not available. Some days I hate HSN. If it wasn’t for your line I would drop HSN!!
I am sorry to hear about that… I know how disappointing that can be. I do greatly appreciate that you stick with me… why don’t you call in this Sunday and say hello??? I am on from 2 – 5pm. I wish you a beautiful and brilliant holiday filled with love and sparkling Rarities. xoxox
Hi Carol. I missed out on the Item: 411-194
Rarities: Fine Jewelry with Carol Brodie Blue Chalcedony and Multigem 10K Drop Earrings. Any possibility of bringing them back soon? They were gorgeous!
Hi there… I am afraid they are not on re-order. I hope that you will find something else from the collection to love and cherish. There are so many beautiful designs coming. I have already finished everything through May, so I promise you will be very excited!!!! Have a brilliant and sparkling holiday and please join me this Sunday from 2 – 5pm. xoxox
Carol,
In your December show, will you have more of your bead bracelets with gemstones (i.e similar to the shamballa braclets but with real gemstones vs. crystals)? Also, will you bring back the bangles that you had last month in yellow sapphire again? There is only ruby and sapphire that shows up on the site. Yellow sapphire is sold out and I have checked for weeks now. Lastly, any new evil eye jewelry coming in December?
Love love love your jewels…thanks!
Well, as you can see I have some major new evil eyes… Shamballa bracelets will be back in early 2012 and the sapphire bangles are currently not ordered, but you never know. I will ask my buyer to see if she will order a few more. Thanks for loving my jewelry and for being so supportive. I am most grateful. Have a beautiful holiday and I hope you will tune in this weekend. Sending lots of love, Carol
Hi Carol,
Thank you so much for writing back to me. I’m not ready for xmas yet, too busy buying things for me! But I did just gift my mom one of your evil eyes and she loves it and wears it everyday. Thanks for letting me know about the shamballas, I love the one I have so much and can’t wait to get new ones. As always, I’ll be looking forward to your upcoming shows. I truly admire you and your amazing designs, work and dedication. You are as rare a woman as your beautiful jewelry!
LOVE YOU LOTS AND THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS BEING MY NUMBER ONE RARITY. XOXOX
I may take you up on the Turkey stuffing (LOL)…. The earrings will definitely show up on .com in a week or two. We always get cancelled credit cards or buyer’s remorse. Please check back late next week or the following week. I love those earrings too. I wore them all day yesterday. I think we may still have them in the labradorite and black spinel… those are hot too!!! Happy Thanksgiving. xoxox
Hi Carol, I really enjoyed your shows this weekend. I picked up the blue and green evil eye bracelets and the pearl and green sapphire necklace, so excited to receive them in the mail!I know you said more shamballas are coming, can you tell me when and what color combos they will be in? I’m waiting soooooo anxiously for them.I have the original and wear it every single day.I look forward to your shows and seeing what your wearing and hearing your stories, you really are amazing! tx, Melissa

Are you ready for the holiday?? So excited that you were able to pick up such great pieces this weekend. More amazing Shamballa bracelets will be back in early 2012… Please be patient… I am so grateful for your feedback. I have a great show coming in December on the 18th… three hours of amazing new talismans and designs. I can’t wait to share them with you. Happy Turkey!!! xxxx
I too will be awaiting more Shamballa Bracelets. Also, I continue to await for another twin ring.
