This month I am writing a “travel blog”. I am sitting in my hotel room in Tucson and thanking my lucky stars that you all enjoy and allow me to do what I do. For those of you that have never been to Tucson, Arizona I am going to give you a little history.

Tucson is located 118 miles southeast of Phoenix and 60 miles north of the Mexican border. Tucson’s population is shy of 1 million. During the Gem and Mineral show thousands of visitors come to Tucson both to sell and to buy all kinds of items. The Tucson Gem and Mineral show started in 1955 and has grown steadily over the years. The first show was located in a school; current day it has grown to over 40 different locations scattered all over Tucson. We filmed all day on the 2nd of February and we had so much fun. I could not believe all of the people I ran into, while we were filming, “Thank you”, to those of you that stopped me to say, “Hi”. The weather was absolutely beautiful and we got to film all kinds of new, “Mine Finds”. We were so lucky, because Tuesday has been one of the only nice sunny days, while I have been here.

The weather quickly turned, I don’t remember Tucson ever being this cold and rainy, but it was not bad enough to stop me from accomplishing my mission. I had to find more new stones that would have to last for the next year. I have to admit that there are not lots of new stones, but I have found some rough material that I have not seen in many, many years and you will have to stay tuned into, because I am not going to ruin the surprises coming your way, they will simply blow you away. I have found some wonderful new materials that I have never seen before. I am always amazed that after spending over 25 years looking for new and different stones – that I can still find new rough material.

So to sum it up I am in Rock Heaven. I am off to pack up all of my “bounty” and get busy designing some beautiful new pieces. I cannot believe how lucky I am to do what I do, and to have you all appreciate what I bring to HSN for you to see. Safe travels, I’ll see you on February 14th.

Jay, Please bring us a green turquoise ring. You did one several years ago, b/c my sister ordered it. But I am fairly new to HSN. I have green turquoise in the necklace, earrings, and bracelet.

Would love to see you bring us all a ring in true green turquoise.

Thanks so much for all you do to keep us dressed to impress!

  • Joan, NJ says:

Jay, would you ever consider double-knotting between your gemstones as is done with pearls. For longevity purposes, I would prefer this method, since quite often, the stringing on your pieces is visible and causes movement of the stones.

    Thank you.

  • jan, GA says:

were can i get my rings in silver resized?

  • Betty, KY says:

I recently bought the large cross. I love it. Would you consider making a smaller one (about 2/3 that big) in the different colors of turquoise and inlaid. I saw one in Sante Fe and have regretted not buying it ever since. It was elegant with a lot of silver with the edging that you do so well.

  • Fay, NC says:

I just purchased the two strand pearl and seafloor jasper necklace. I LOVE IT. I am wondering if there is a matching bracelet. I would really like to have one.

  • Julie, MI says:

Hi Jay!!! I love your work and have a couple of your pieces. Your work is exquisite!!!
I do have a favor. Would it be possible to includ a list of the stones’ countries of origin with the purchase? Your jewelry is a passport to adventure for me.
Thanks for making a long time rock hound feel special.

  • Beverly, OH says:

Amber! Beautiful honey amber and cognac amber with specs of light in them! Beautiful Baltic Amber! I absolutely love the beautiful treasures you bring us especially the bold, beautiful, gemstone necklaces. I’m searching for a substantial amber necklace made of mostly amber and less filler. Perhaps a mix of honey and cognac amber in nice sized pieces. Would also like to the length to start at 19 or 20 inches with sterling silver hardware. Can you bring us such a treasure for under $300.00?

  • Abigail, FL says:

Hi Jay! I love your pieces! My latest has been the chocolate turquoise necklace from the Feb show. It is gorgeous!!! So very beautiful! Looking forward to your next show!

  • Remy, NJ says:

    Hello Jay,
I got hooked collecting your jewelries made of different gemstones/stones. I have collected several?? I think a lot already of your jewelries and became my favorite. I always watch your
show every time you come on HSN and every time I get excited what new materials you have for us. First I’m also waiting for those bowls, which I regret now that I did not get them when you first have them. Second on your earrings with post, can you make the post a little bit longer? Thanks take care.

  • Lori, TX says:

Hi Jay…..Picked up a set of your interchangeable earrings from your Feb show. They are every bit as beautiful as you said they were. I have had problems with earrings handing nicely from my ears, and these hang as nicely as you said they would. Could you make some additional stones for these earrings. I did pick up the amber also and additional stones could go with many of your around the world necklaces. Can’t wait for your next show.

  • Jeanne, NJ says:

    Hi Jay:

My Mom and I have been avid collectors of your jewelry for years. We do, however, have some pieces that need to be repaired. Please let us know if we can forward them to you. Thanks.

  • Debbie, IL says:

You said the turquoise bowls would be in the Feburary show. I didnt see them anywhere. Have been waiting since last March. When will they appear in the 10 inch size again?

  • Jay u r the best! have many pieces although I can’t work and are disabled due to a cancer manage to buy your jewel to cheer me up a little. since i’m Dominican love AMBER, my dream is a solid plain(no metal) Bangle/s, see you have some but I prefer long single strands to layer. Was getting the’pear drops’ you had but sold out (are they coming back? PLEASE bring more and various pieces of AMBER while I can !!

  • Brenda, TN says:

    Hi Jay,
I ordered the complete set of Turquoise and Micro Opal. Finally the day arrived, just in time for my anniversary! My husband was taking me out for a special dinner and evening on the town. I wore it all! It complimented my outfit so wonderfully, the compliments I received from others was outrageous! When I got home, I couldn’t get the ring off! My husband had to cut it off! I am heartbroken! Jay, I have the stone, can I send to you and you make the ring? RingItem: 720-683

  • Cheryl, CO says:

Recently I had the opportunity to see some Arizona Petrified wood pieces and they were stunning! My breath was taken away looking at a slab that contained opalized yellow, red, red orange, green (etc.). I know that this material would make the most beautiful jewelry pieces as only Jay King can do and I am sure they would sell out immediately. Could you would you???

  • Marilyn, CA says:

Turquoise and lapis bowls are stunning and flashy, but you are using up so much quantity of each just for bowls!! I believe lots of the jaspers and even agates, green, brown, red jasper, etc., would be SO BEAUTIFUL, and you could save the best turquoise and lapis (my favorite stones) for jewelry!!

    • LOLINA says:

I agree about the bowls.I have a lot of Jay,i stop buying because i think as i get older the heavy big stuff dont look on my as good.I also like medium to small jewrely, also some i have are beautifull but to heavy on my neck.I really find some jewels looks gory, when to big,and heavy.I know you like BIG,.I am from the 50ths,Big was not classic or elegant. My brown neckclake is too heavy,i kept, but not used.I am a collector, like to have differents real stones,The bowls are missing some catched, they look on TV too Bla.Sorry Jake.I love your effort to kept good stones coming.See you in May.

    • LOLINA says:

Medium too small,is classic, and elegant. Please Jake, lets big be for womans type,I dont buy big anymore,i have alot,i got just to collect stones, but i will like to use them. Also any necklace shorter than 20,idont even considered to buy.Nothing close to the chin, make woman, looks older! That is for seventeen years old girls.See you in May.I dont like heavy stones.

  • I should have done this several years ago. Jay, thank you for the many beautiful pieces of jewelry. My favorites are when you and your team allow the beauty of the stone to take centerstage and finish the piece with simple, sophisticated silver. I believe this is when you guys are at your best. My current favorites are the large malachite pendant/necklace, green varicite beads and rectangular pendant and my freeform turquoise pendant with gracefully carved beads. Showstoppers! Thanks!

  • Susan, CA says:

Hi Jay, I bought the multishaped turquoise sterling silver 18-1/2 inch necklace, the real chunky one. This is a wonderful necklace but I received mine with the largest bead being chipped. It is sold out on HSN. Will you be making any more of these so I could exchange it?

  • Marilyn, WI says:

Jay…..thank you so much for the new fantastic quality lapis in your new lariat, ring & bracelet. I’m especially impressed with the color on the ring. The closures on the lariat &
bracelet deserve equal praise. It is so nice not to have to struggle putting on a bracelet or asking for help. The design on the bracelet took my breath away. The new styles are outstanding! Please never compromise quality.

  • Marilyn, WI says:

Hi Again…ran out of space. I have noticed that you are using the half S-hook more often…I know that saves silver, but really miss the full S-hook which is easier to hold in my fingers
than a half hook which butts up close to the end caps. I have also received some necklaces curled tight & stuffed into bracelet boxes in the shipments from your last three TV appearances. Please don’t do that. I expect bracelets in bracelet boxes & don’t like to curl
    my necklaces so tightly. Thanks.

  • Marilyn, WI says:

Hi Jay….I’ve been saving up some comments & special requests. I really like the treasure
necklace & bracelet that I got with magnetic closures so all can be connected. I find this the ideal look…not a hook that has to be hidden at the back of the neck & yet opens for ease of placing multi-strands around my neck. (I wish you could design a special jewelry twist tie to keep multi-strands from shifting…so often I end up with one strand tight around my neck &
the other strand hanging low i

  • Donna, FL says:

I LOVE your jewelry – nobody does it better! Will we see any more Nako turquoise? I recently bought a green turquoise piece from a vendor who said it was African turquoise. Information from the internet told me it was green jasper. What is the story on this one?
    Happy traveling!

  • Laney, AL says:

Jay, PLEASE, make earrings and/or bracelet to go with the rose quartz heart pendant from you. It is WAAAAAYY overdue :) Also, 1 more request, a pendant and/or necklace and earrings to go with the aventurine bracelet. You are the BEST and I am refusing to buy from anyone else and wait on you to make these so I can finish the sets!
    Thanks,
    A #1 JK Fan

  • Lisa, CA says:

Thanks for the earrings special! I am one of your odd customers, because I only wear gold (real or plated), so it is challenging to find just the right pieces of yours to buy. I concentrate on those pieces that have no silver findings or just a bit of a silver catch/clasp. I’m using the mop/onyx/turquoise disks from the special on my gold hoops (thanks to Suzanne’s tip), and I’ll eventually give the whole set to my niece who wears silver! Keep up the great work!

  • Craig, GA says:

    Jay,
When will you design a disk blue lapis necklace? We have all your other disk necklaces
and would love to purchase on in blue lapis. A bunch of us that like to snowboard wear
the necklaces cause their so comfortable etc. How about it?
