New Mine Finds For May
I can’t believe it is already May. Time just seems to fly by! I’m in my home state of New Mexico this week. For the last few weeks, I’ve travelled throughout the Southwest visiting various mines and looking at new rough materials. This weekend I had the pleasure of flying over to the Kingman mine. I love to fly and I find it very relaxing, yet challenging at times. We have found a lot of new rough materials and have been designing away for this year’s last three shows. We have so many new surprises to show you, and I just can’t wait!
This brings up the subject of the upcoming May event. It kicks off on May 26th at 2 a.m. EST, and runs through Monday, May 28th. We have a big surprise coming your way at midnight on the 27th – we’ll release the Today’s Special. I’m really excited about this one and we are going to have a special on-air guest to help me launch it. Marty Colbaugh from the famous Kingman Mine will co-host the event when we release a very special turquoise to the market.

This project has been more than a year in the making, and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed once you see what we have created for you. It’s a big, bold new look and I feel we will probably sell out early in the day. So, if you can take the time to tune in I think you will not be disappointed.
That’s about all for now! I want to thank all who took the time to write me and submit your thoughts and design requests. I hope you will tune in and spend some time with us as we present all the new looks for May.
Safe travels,
J

I’ve learned so much about our beautiful planet from watching you, at least from a lapidary standpoint ; ) I would love to see you do something with Fire Crab Agate. I’m in love with this stone. Every slice is different and there would be so many stone combinations you could accent it with, or by itself, it’s gorgeous. See you on HSN soon, I hope. Debra
I have bought more than several of your pieces and get many comments on them . I love the Turquoise, but try to buy different colored items one of the ones I have gotten the most comments on has been the Senora Dendritic Sterling Silver Pendant. When people ask I get the oportunity to hook them on HSN and your creations. Thanks for all the beautiful things you bring us. I do have one question though. I bought the Turquoise 2-Tone Heart-Shape Pendant and 17″ Copper Collar Necklace last year and love it , but it pinches my neck and I cannot wear it unless I have a turtle neck sweater on. I have tried all ways to make it not do that, but have been unable to fix it. Has anyone else had this problem, or am I doing something wrong?
Jay,
I purchased the moss opal necklace, earings, & ring in sterling silver. I love them. They are just beautiful. You should make a bracelet to match this set. I love to wear a whole ensemble when I wear jewelry. Thanks again & keep delivering great unique pieces of jewelry.
Just received your new tsv coral and turquoise bangles. They’re beautiful . I have the green one already, so I can wear all three together;) once again you rock, get it? Rock? My usual joke

Have not purchased anything since I bought a beautiful lapis/silver necklace. I paid $159 for it. Shortly after the 30 day return expired, the large stone popped out. (I am very gentle with my jewelry). I called HSN asking how to reach you and was told there wasn’t a way to contact you! It has set in my jewelry box since. TODAY, I heard Shivan say I could reach you thru’ this blog!!! I just want to know if I can send it to you for repair or repair myself.
Hi Jay, just received your wide band Amazonite ring. It is stunning. I love the wide band and it fits perfectly. I just wish the stone was a little darker, but it will go nicely with the Amazonite necklaces I have. How about using this style with some other stones, like Fluorite, coral, or Calcite. A matching bracelet would be nice as well…but not a wide cuff. Maybe a narrow cuff or one with links and the stone. The wide cuffs don’t fit me well. My inner rock hound is veru happy! Nancy MCO
Jay, Now you’ve got me really curious!!! I will definitely be watching in the wee hours of the morning when you’re first on. I saw your purple fluorite necklace and was wondering if you’ve had or can get any teal color fluorite. I have a teal fluorite ring that I just love. It would be nice to have a necklace or bracelet to go with it… Well, have to go buy some of your turquoise and red coral earrings…I’ll be anxiously awaiting your TS special!!! Stay safe, Nancy MCO
Jay, Would you have any of that light-colored Orange Coral material left, that you made that Orange Coral Cross S.S. Pendant,Item No. 654-271, out of? Or, would you be able to get a hold of some of that material again, and possibly consider making a smaller beaded necklace, about 8MM-10MM, and an 18″ L., to bring out the beauty of this beautiful Orange Coral Cross Pendant more? Please let me know your thoughts about this idea. Enjoy yourself now. Be careful, and take care. (L.O.L.) :0)
Jay, I was hoping that the color of the beads with your Orange Coral Pendant would match your Orange Coral Cross Pendant, H.S.N. Item No. 654-271, so that I could share both of these Pendants with the beads, but after putting them together, I found that the beads are just too dark for the light-colored Orange Coral Cross, and the beads wouldn’t fit through the Bail either. So, I will just have to wear your beautiful Coral Cross with my S.S. Baby Box Chain, as I have been doing, for right now.
Hi Jay, I heard a loud sounding plane today around 11:45 P.M. and 12:30 P.M. (E.T.), and when I looked out my kitchen window, I saw a white commuter plane flying over my little neighborhood.Could that have been you flying over,Jay? “Hello, my friend, hello” (from the air).(laugh)I just received your beautiful Orange Coral S.S. and Copper Pendant w/Necklace, H.S.N. Item No.146-025.I just love the orangey/red hues in that stone. I bought your precious Orange Coral S.S. Cross Pendant in March 2011.
Jay, I also bought your Copper 16 1/4″ Wavy Collar Necklace to be shared with your Rose Quartz Copper Pendant and Beaded Necklace. This Copper Collar really complements that piece so well! This ensemble really appeals to my feminine side. Also, because of your precious Amber material being a real passion of mine, I may be in trouble, financially, when I see your new Amber jewelry pieces when they become available in the near future. (Laugh) Be careful now, and take care. (L.O.L.) :0)
Hi glad you got the collar they go with almost anything. Best J
Jay, Dana didn’t seem too happy about getting married. Then, she told me that her mother was pushing her into it. I told her that she should follow “her” heart, and do what “she” felt was the right thing to do. So, I guess sometimes—not always, love is so much better the 2nd time around. I am finding it difficult to pay down my charge card balance because I seem to find another beautiful piece of your jewelry that I would like to have—like your Rose Quartz Copper Pendant w/Beaded Necklace.
Hi Jay, I hope you are feeling better. What a strange coincidence with that T.S. Debby coming into the Panhandle/Jacksonville, FL. area last Friday night, June 22. My son was on his way back home, from a three-day break, from N.W. Georgia via Jacksonville, FL. and the FL. Turnpike that Friday morning. I thank God that he got home safely, and before this T.S. came in. Also, Dana, my husband’s R.D.H., has postponed her wedding indefinitely—if ever. This would have been her 2nd marriage. (Con’t.)
Wow Jay, just checked the website…you have some GREAT new pieces! Already purchased several. Love the Misty Mountain Turqouise, both colors! And the Amazonite ring…had to have it! I’m so looking forward to your TS coming up next month. If it’s anything like the new pieces, it has to be amazing. Did you find out how the charm bracelet idea is coming along? Have to start saving my pennies for that. You have awakened my inner “rock hound.” Take care…see ya in July! Nancy MCO
I have bought 2 rings 10 years ago from Jay. They both have very wide bands. I bought in my regular size and they have never fit. Can they be resized. One is a purple stone and one is a beautiful green. I just kept them in a jewelry box because they were one of a kind. Do we have a place to send them. Its my fault for just keeping them and the time passed.
I’ll always take care of you no matter what. If you go to customer service and enter my name it will tell you how to send your personal information in a secure manner. We can size them for you. The wide bands need to be ordered in a size up from your original size. Best J
Nancy we’ve got a great show for you in July and I think you’ll love the TS it’s truly unique and your choice of a new blue turquoise, green turquoise, and a fabulous new strawberry coral. Thanks for your support J
Hi Jay ! Got a question for you , I have a Mozambique Garnet cross pendant –not one from you—and I noticed that it is looking Darker than when I first got it. Is this normal–can it be fixed ?? I took one of your polishing cloths , to clean up the sterling silver on it, but it didn’t help the color.
Without seeing it I really can’t say for sure. It should polish up with the polishing cloth. Best J
Jay, I have a real passion for that warm and natural Amber material. I have several of your other Amber Necklaces—and I love them, and I wear different pieces for special occasions, and on “not so special” occasions. After I have worn each piece, like I do with all of your other awesome jewelry that I own, I clean it with the little polishing cloths that come with it, place it in the tarnish-free bag, and then in the velvet pouch and inside the box where it came from. Take care. (L.O.L.) :0)
I’m glad you enjoyed it we have lots of amber designs coming soon. J
Hi Jay, I hope you are feeling better, and recovering from your unfortunate accident and ear infection. I, and mostly you, hope that this condition won’t be a permanent issue. I received your 3-Strand Amber Chip w/Drop Necklace yesterday. It is so beautiful, warm like a summer sunset, and precious! I love your design with the twisted strands of Amber chips between the round and diamond-shape Amber discs with the round Amber pendant. I also love that this exceptional piece was done in solid Amber.
Hope you’re feeling better, never fun to be sick.I have an outrageous amount of your purple turquoise but no bracelet or earrings.Have you ever thought of doing the studs in purple, bright green turq.& maybe magnesite(love those studs!)& coil bracelets in the same? P.S. coil bracelets need to be smaller,I wear them around my ankle because they fall off my wrist. Although they do look good there! Bet you never knew you made ankle bracelets! LOL! Also would love to see a purple turquoise bowl. Thanks
Hi I never even thought about being able to wear them as a ankle bracelet. Mary makes the purple turquoise it would be outrageously exspensive to make one but Marty and I have several new genuine turquoise bowls in the works right now so far everyone loves the proto-types I’m also working on a coral bowl. Best J
The idea of a coral bowl sounds great! You did some agate bowls not to long ago that I also liked. I’ve become a collector of your bowls and such. Now I’m curious though, I love the Australian Earth Stone, is this material something you can make bowls out of? Also tell your wife for me that I love the charms around the world idea. My Granddaughter would really love getting them for her Birthday and Christmas. She wears charms everywhere including on her tennis shoes of all places!
On one of your shows you talked about publishing a book about your mine finds and various stones you have had in the past, is this something you are working on? I check HSN every other day to see if you have something different listed, don’t want to miss ANYTHING Jay King is making! Please give the book some attention. Looking forward to it. Thanks for the MANY beautiful pieces of jewelry.
I have lots of projects but have to focus on just getting new rough and buying rough takes a huge commitment in travel time and money. Right now if there were two of me I don’t think I could still get it all done. Maybe some day I can get a book done. I’ve started down the road but something always comes up it seems. Best J
Glad to see you’re doing better Jay. I have an idea but don’t know whether it’s possible. I love the charm bracelets that are all the rage. Is there anyway you could come up one? For the bracelet you might use the woven silver like the copper collar. I think with all your beautiful “finds” you could make some really interesting “charms.” Looking forward to your July TS…will have to buy myself something special for my birthday next month! Take care and keep the jewelry coming! Nancy MCO
Nancy great minds think alike. My wife Sheila is a big time charm bracelt fan. She says we should do one and offer new Mine Find charms each show from around the world. It’s been in the development stage now for sometime. I’ll see if were making any progress. Thanks J
Jay I hope you get bette, just read comment you were ill. I wnet to a lunch with friends just wearing white and your cleopatra necklace turq and copper and lady said “I cant stop mlooking at that necklace” gave her the hsn. Mine finds and you’ll have new cust. Its 2 or 3 years that I have 30 pieces and your designs are just getting better with age. Take care Audree,NY
Thanks doing better but still on the mend. Picked up something on my last trip overseas in my right ear. It comes and goes but when it comes on it makes life interesting as far as balance and hearing and such. Thanks we built our business on referals so be assured I’ll always take care of you and anybody you send our way and make you proud. Thanks again J
Jay, Hey, see your ENT doctor! I had the same balancing problem and found they do the “Embry maneuver” in the office and it’s quick, easy, painfree….and it works! Has to do with crystals in your inner ear getting stuck where they shouldn’t be…….when are you back – in July? WHEN? I’m going out of town but will take computer so I can find you!
Jay, Could you do a long phosphosiderite necklace or a cross pendant like the cooperite cross in this stone? Also, I have taken several of your double strand 18″ necklaces to my jeweler and had them restrung to a long 36″ single strand. Since that is beginning to add up, I was wondering if it possible to offer both choices when you do that style? It would be awesome!!! Thanks for your hard work!
I just got a new load of the phosphosiderite in from the mine in Chile. I’ll put it down in the design idea book. Not quite sure what your asking as far as the necklaces. We offer so many lenghts big, medium, and small. Thanks really love these ides J
Jay, I was sorry to hear about your accident & infection and hope you are feeling better. I have been a loyal customer and fan since 1999. When I was a child I used to collect rocks and thanks to you I get to collect rocks I can wear and enjoy. You are the one designer than always brings me back to hsn as I always enjoy the many different treasures you bring to us as well as your information, wit and charm. Can’t wait to see the July TS. Keep safe and enjoy life!-NJ Connie
Funny I think rock hounds are all over the world It has to be some kind of gene. It’s funny but when I see the jewelry I think of the rough and how far its traveled, and of coarse the many funny and sometimes not so funny things that have gone on in it’s journey. Best J
My prior message (on this blog) was not clear, sorry. Breakage was to my 40″ turquoise nugget Anhui item. Kept in org. box including broken beads. Never worn. Reported damage to HSN but was too late to return. Does your repair offer extent to my old order as well? Thanks. I was strilled to receive an answer. I am old & new to blog communication. My best treasure – your mozambique amethyst necklace; perfect quality. Love your designs & shows.
Okay heres the deal I stand behind my product one thousand percent. So if my stuff breaks or a stone falls out anything that has to do with normal wear and tear and someone didn’t back over it in their car, although I have replaced some items in my day just because I could, we fix it. Just go to HSN Customer Service and enter my name. This will tell you how to send us your personal info. If you don’t get taken care of please let me know we truly value your business and want to keep you smilin. J

Hi Jay- I also became friends with you on FB. Could you please tell me when your next show on HSN will be? Your jewelry is truly top quality. I love natural colored Mine Fines. You never fail to amaze with the material you discover across the world!!! I am trying to curb my shopping with you it is very difficult. Will you be having another Top Value item on HSN in the future? Thank you so much for what you have brought to the table onHSN!!!!l
Okay I’m on next July 10th. This is a 24hr jewelry event so its not like a regular show for me. I start at 12am EST till 1am then 4pm till 6pm 9pm till 11pm. That being said I have the TS for the day and this is what I call a super cool look. So hope you can take sometime to join us. Thanks for the interest J
