New and Exciting in the New Year: Charming Resolutions

Submitted by Heidi Daus on December 29, 2011 – 3:49 PM29 Comments

What does a New Year mean to you? Is it saying “Goodbye,” or is it saying “Hello?” NYE 250x300 New and Exciting in the New Year: Charming Resolutions

No matter how I look at it, it’s a time to reflect upon what’s been accomplished and what’s to come. No gloating. No regrets. Only gratitude for what has been, for being here now, and for moving on toward new and exciting things.

And then there’s what we call a “New Year’s resolution.” Now this is an interesting concept because annually, we circle around the idea of self-improvement and what we can do to become better people.  I don’t know about you, but I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s my time, and that life is fleeting. The kinder and gentler I am to myself, the more positive energy I have to bestow upon others. In other words, if I am good to myself, I will in turn be good to others.

The jewelry I design comes from a deep-seated belief that self-adornment every now and then is my expression of self-worth. We don’t say, “I am worth it” often enough. Girls and guys, I’m telling you – there’s nothing wrong with this! We often put ourselves at the back of the line. We must learn to take care of ourselves in every way!

To give you an example, years ago, Gail and I were exhibiting at a jewelry show at The Jacob Javits Center in NYC.  Two young women walked into our booth and their eyes immediately became huge! They were so excited by the jewelry they were giddy – picking things up and trying things on. Eventually, we found ourselves writing them a pretty darn big order.  We asked them where their store was located and they looked at each other and grinned. One of the girls unabashedly confessed, “Girlfriend, we don’t have a store, this is all about me!” Gail and I just laughed and replied, “Good for you!”

So, when you are making a resolution in anticipation of the upcoming year, such as donating to the less fortunate, donating to orphaned pets, being environmentally responsible or reforming a habit – whatever it may be – don’t forget to include yourself!

For the first time ever, Gail and I decided to design a charm bracelet based on classic silhouettes you’ve seen in traditional Heidi pieces: the heart, the starfish…well, I don’t want to give it all away so, you will have to see for yourself when I appear on HSN in January. Let’s just say that this bracelet is our first chain-link, and is one in which each charm represents a season, significance or something to look forward to in the future. You can buy it for a friend and surprise them each month with a unique charm to add to the chain. Or, you can buy it for yourself! Go ahead.

I wish you all a healthy, happy and prosperous 2012.

Be good to yourselves,

bought the “art in Bloom” earrings, they won’t stay closed and I’m wondering when I will hear back from Heide, I e-mailed her company 7 days ago. Anyone else have trouble ? How long does it take to get an answer, I know they take my order right away!
    Not happy

Heidi, When will your bring your “Queen Crab” Collection back to HSN? The necklace and cuff sold out so fast! It looked so adorable on tv. I love your critters. I have several in your collection, and the are all so beautiful and unique.
Also, I would like to see you make a collection of a sea dragon. I found a picture of one on google by accident, and the first thing I thought was, “I WONDER HOW HEIDI WOULD DO THIS AS A CRITTER FOR HER COLLECTIONS? Cindy

HI i REALLY NEED A TIMELESS BEAUTY WATCH.please email me if you can help

  • lanababy says:

    Dear Heidi-
I am rather petite and had purchased your Peacock watch bracelet. I gave it to an administrator at the hospital when my father was on his deathbed. Obviously NOT thinking clearly! I know that you usually do not repeat your styles, but this watch required no alterations for someone who is 5′ tall. I have missed it for 4 years since my beloved father’s passing.
PLEASE rethink this on as I would be eternally grateful! I’m certain that you could sell a ton more of these. I’m beggin’

Hi Heidi. My 1st pce of your jewelry was the Timeless Beauty watch in pink and now I have a bunch of your jewelry. My latest favorite is A Few Good Rocks and I have request. Can you please expand that design? That aquamarine is gorgeous. Can we have a brooch, watch, a daytime shorter earring and a daytime necklace? How about making the existing earring and necklace convertible to make shorter and the option to remove the lariat from the necklace? I have the bracelet and would wear the set evryday

Hello Heidi – I just wanted to take this opportunity to call your attention to my postings of 11/2011 on your other Blog, re: “other ways to wear your pins”. My idea is actually an alternative for when the pins are not being worn, which obviously they all cannot be at the same time. I hope you will take some time to review & consider my idea. I will know what you thought of it if I see it on HSN, I guess. Thank You for your beautiful jewelry – JMN

  • Jazzmovies says:

Please bring back my of your charm bracelets with auto ship so I can get all the charms. I love charm bracelets and missed your show so when I save the bracelet with only the January charm I ordered it thinking you would offer a different one each month, but now I find out that it was the auto ship and it is sold out, so I have to return mine.
I love your jewelry and love charm bracelets so please bring more.

    Happy New Year Heidi,
I always loved your jewelry as I say when someone comments “Heidi’s jewelry is not for the faint of heart!” You are so special because I can’t wear pierced earrings and before you I got see your Beautiful pieces I had to wear these ugly things. I thank you Heidi and I love your way of seeing life, you take inventory of the past and look forward to the future. Much Happiness to you and yours!!!

  • GINGANURSE says:

Heidi, I love your designs and have purchased 12 pieces in the last few weeks. I need advice on a combo . What do you think about the Dragon bracelet with the Georgian Lace necklace in black? Any other bracelets to go with that necklace? and can you think of a good match in earrings. I just love tassels and also purchased the “Just Fabulous” necklace, too. Love, Love Love your jewelry. Thank-you so much. Gretchen

  • vickyblue60 says:

Hello Heidi. I purchased my first piece last spring and now have 8 pieces. I purchased clip earrings with the matching bracelet and OUCHhhhhhh, the earrings hurt every time I wear them. Is there a way to adjust the earrings? Also, the pierced earrings I purchased hurt by noon time and find myself with imprint on my ears. How can I adjust the earrings so I can wear them every day. I am hesitant to purchase earrings in the future. Can you help me please, I love your designs and crystals.

  • I love your jewelry Heidi, I have so many lovely pieces. There are two that I have missed buying, one is the crocodile necklace and the dragon fly pin, just missed them by minutes of selling out with no wait list. I called and left a request if anyone returns a crocodile necklace could I please purchase it…is there anyway you can bring the crocodile necklace back???? In your past two visits I have purchased 6 major pieces. OMG thank God I do not buy shoes too. Barbara in California

  • goofybug says:

Heidi, two things – could you please do a ladybug line bracelet (8″ toggle) to go with all the other ladybug jewelry I have from you. As I am not fond of the one you offer (which is odd cause I love 99.9% of your jewelry. Also, could you make a fudog pin in the clear/smoke crystal to match the cuff & ring I already have. Like but smaller (maybe 5″) Thank you SO much.

  • msperfect says:

    Hi, Heidi!

Congratulations on all your beautiful jewelry!!! I have many pieces and love every one.

I have a special request. I have the necklace and bracelet of the “Would you be mine” line. I NEED the ring. It was sold out before I could order it. I need a size 8. Would it be possible to get a re-issue of this beautiful ring. I know you get a lot of requests, so if it can’t be done, I understand!

But I hope it can be done! Mary

  • ROBIN26 says:

Heidi, I just started collecting your jewelry last year. I must have 15 pieces now. They are all so beautiful and I get so many comments on them at work. They make me happy throughout the day. I wore the “Would You Be Mine” necklace together with another set of pearls last week and the girls were wowed.
I love the new charm bracelet but need a smaller size since I have a 6 1/2″ wrist. Please, please make a smaller one!

  • Heidi Daus says:

It’s so hard to answer all of you individually – so instead of replying to some and not all of you I am posting on the board for all to see. First of all, thank you for making my shows last week fun and exciting. I enjoy talking to all of you and showing off my latest work to you. You don’t know how much it means to me to read things like: “Your jewelry makes me happy”. Or that through my work I am able to help those struggling with an illness. Thank you for making my life that much richer.

  • Mcapril29 says:

Heidi happy new year and I love all your pieces. I own many. Please bring in more of the Imperial Elephant showstopper set of the necklace, bracelet, and ring. I wanted them so badly but I missed out on them. Thank you for bringing us such amazing pieces!

  • Sparklydiva says:

    Heidi,
It seems as if I know you by watching you for a long time. You definitely are someone I could share the longest cup of coffee. Anyhow, I am so obsessed with fleur di lis. Any way to “Daus” up a fleur di lis?????? I have to say thus far, my favorite has been the peacock necklace. That has been the go to piece. I love wearing it as well as hearing the compliments. Even though the same people at work see it, it is as consistent as the sun coming up that a compliment is coming.

    Heidi,

I LOVE your item #968-376 (“Princess” Crystal-Accented 3-Stone Ring)but it’s too big for me. Could you offer it in just a tad smaller width? That would be wonderful!

  • susie1000 says:

Hi Heidi and girls. Just watched all your shows. Some much to pick from. Always new pieces. They are just beautiful Heidi! I ordered the “Would you be mine” bangle. Finally red red stones. Love them Heidi. Hope you all have a happy and healthey 2012!

  • Ira54 says:

Wow! And I did not see the Rose Elegance necklace yet! Heidi, you need warn us: girls, if you stand up it is better for you sit down! I can not wait to see the new collection! Happy Old New Year for us!

  • Jewelbeacon says:

I, too, would like a charm necklace. Something I can wear everyday and change with the seasons. Your jewelry makes me happy.

  • badpuddycat says:

Heidi, I truly love your jewelry … not just because of its beauty but because it is also of the highest quality. You are one of the few fashion jewelry designers that has set such a high standard and we Heidi girl’s appreciate it!

My only question is why is HSN not allowing FLEX PAY on many of your news items? Is FLEX PAY going to slowly be phased out of all Heidi pieces?

Thanks and best of luck to you! We look forward to the new designs for 2012!

    :-) Your Badpuddycat

  • QueenCat59 says:

Love the bracelet and hope to have the opporunity to purchase it~something tells me it’s an add on through the year? I too have Pandora and just recieved 2 new charms from DH this Christmas. Pandora is fun for casual, beachy, summertime. Heidi’s pieces are more elegant and delicate; from a day out shopping to a black tie wedding.
That’s my problem~I love it all from Heidi to Pandora to Artisan crafted and to good old bling!!! I just love it all. :)

  • Cattfood says:

I was admiring a friends Pandora bracelet and as beautiful as that is, was thinking how much cooler a Heidi version would be and here it is! Looking forward to the show!

Happy New Year, Heidi – with 2011 being a year of life changing events for me following my breast cancer diagnosis and surgeries, your jewelry has been so special to me – from the magnificent cross my hubby & daughter brought to me in the hospital, the fantastic dragonfly necklace he gave me just before and beyond…I’ll be watching for the Charming Resolutions bracelet – it certainly tells the story of my own year – and know it will for others as well… “hold one for me” :-)!!!!!
