Hello darling Bloggers!
Believe it or not, this is my first foray into the deeelightful world of blogging. Although, I think we should call it “blah-ging”. I am excited to be heading back to HSN in St. Petersburg, FL. Yep! I’m headed back for my second presentation of Ch’Arms! Who Knew?!
Ch’Arms is the woman’s sleeved undergarment I created–basically for myself, so I could wear all my cute short and no-sleeved tops and dresses, and still have my arms covered. In the summer of 2008, on my way to a press junket for Wall-E, a film I was in, I had just bought this great short-sleeved top, and wanted to wear it, but I didn’t want to have bare arms this day, and I didn’t want to wear a big sweater/schmata over it that would cover up the top and my body. And I didn’t want to wear a long-sleeved shirt under it that would look bulky, and ruin the great low V neckline. So I took an old t-shirt, and with a sharpie and some scissors, I cut out the entire front of the shirt leaving only the t-shirt part over the belly and the sleeves! After two years perfecting the garment in my living room; pouring through lush fabrics, colors and style options, re-designing, honing, creating prototypes for the perfect style and fit, I created Ch’Arms.
I wore mine constantly, and then all of my friends were asking for some. My friend Tracy said the most exciting moments were the summer months when she could wear her sun dresses with Ch’Arms to the beach, bar-b-ques, picnics and pool parties without wearing a big, hot, giant sweater over them! Faves were the soft, everyday casual ones made with comfy cotton, and the extra control option of the spandex Ch’Arms. I was thrilled to shop in the “short-sleeved section” of every kind of store, and to also go back in and “shop my closet” to re-visit so many favorit shirts and dresses I hadn’t worn in years.
Then, I met HSN.
I will never forget the first time I walked onto the lot at HSN. It was so foreign–a parallel universe, like a private world with its own way of life: The HSN way. It was a completely new experience for me and I learned so much.
First stop, to Bisi and Dana in the wardrobe department to pick clothes for the gorgeous women who would be modeling Ch’Arms. As I am known to do, I slipped my top off right there in the middle of the office to try on all the different colors and fabrics of Ch’Arms! Then to check out my set. Loved!!! If you look closely you can see the dozens of women’s symbols that make up a big part of my fancy logo on the wall! Then to check out the lights–mmhmm lighting is always a priority! Then a meeting with my HSN kick-ass guardian angel Heather, and then on to meet the hosts! Ahh, the hosts! Kathy, Suzanne and Marlo are all one smart, funny, energetic, and enthusiastic woman after another. Then…LIVE! into the premiere launch of Ch’Arms–no turning back now! We offered the comfy cotton in black, white, heathered-vintage gray, mocha and berry, and the spandex control (for extra control on your arms and midriff if you choose) in black, electric blue and nude!
We were scheduled for five segments, but after the third one…we sold out!
As an actress, I have never done a TV commercial, or felt comfortable accepting offers to endorse products my whole career, and here I was with a sold-out garment that I created myself–my first time on sacred HSN ground! I was beyond excited, and I thank you all! I am headed back and will appear on Friday, April 29th at 7:25 am, 11 am, 3:30 pm and 11 pm EST.
I can’t wait to come back with new items! I told you about a sheer evening mesh Ch’Arms we were working on. It’s perfect for a little black dress, for fancy evening outfits, and for cocktail tops and dresses, and it’s here! Also, we received several requests for 3/4-length sleeves, and they are now available as well! We have also added a great “Levi-ish” denim color that’s perfect for jeans. And I am most proud of the secure tabs we added–these are tiny tabs sewn into the garment that hook the Ch’Arms to your bra for extra support–a tiny invisible anchor if you need it!
I’m excited to see what you like and hear what you need. And if you see me at a coffee house in St. Pete getting my Earl Gray with half and half, please stop and say, “Hey!”
I hope Ch’Arms solves a wardrobe problem for you all as it did for me. More later and thanks again my people!
