Celebrate Chinese New Year with Wei East Starting January 28th
Dear Friends,
Kung Hei Fat Choi! That’s “Happy New Year!” in Chinese. I cannot wait to return to HSN January 28th, 29th & February 1st to kick off the Chinese New Year early with all of you!
February 3rd is the start of Chinese New Year, and this year marks the year of the Rabbit! As a child growing up in China, I looked forward to the Chinese New Year with all the excitement and enthusiasm that could possibly exist in my little body. Just as children in the West look forward to Christmas and the holiday season, children in China look forward to the celebration of the New Year. For over 4,000 years, the Chinese New Year has been our biggest holiday of the year; a time of family, community, traditions and reflection, as well as shared excitement about the promise of the future.
We start preparing for the New Year festivities a month in advance; cleaning, sweeping, dusting, painting to make sure that everything is fresh and clean for the New Year. Everyone pitches in to get ready for the celebrations, since the parties usually last for two weeks! Like many families, my friends and family prepare foods steeped in tradition – one of my favorites is the rice cake, called “nian-gao.” Nian-Gao is also a message of good luck and means “getting better year after year.” My mother would simply grill the Nian-Gao’s on our wood stove while my sisters and I would gather around her to enjoy the cakes’ warm sweetness as soon as they came off the stove.
But the most exciting part of the holiday is on the eve of the New Year. On this night, traditions that have been passed down for generations are very carefully observed in everything from food to clothing. For dinner, we have a feast of seafood and dumplings, which each signify good wishes. We eat prawns for liveliness and happiness, dried oysters (ho xi) for all things good, plenty of fish dishes (Yau-Yu) to bring good luck and prosperity, seaweed (Fai-chai) to bring prosperity, and dumplings boiled in water (Jiaozi) for long-lasting good wishes for our family. Everyone is usually dressed in the color red, because in Chinese tradition red is meant to ward off evil spirits. After dinner, our family stays up talking and laughing while playing cards or playing board games waiting until midnight when fireworks light up the sky!
On New Years Day, an ancient custom called Hong Bao, meaning Red Packet, takes place. This tradition involves married couples giving children and unmarried adults money in red envelopes. Later, we go from door to door, first to our relatives homes and then to our neighbors to extend warm New Year greetings. Much like the Western expression “let bygones be bygones,” Chinese New Year is a time to let go of the past and start fresh and anew.
I cannot wait to kick of this New Year of the Rabbit with you on HSN January 28th, 29th & February 1st! I feel the love, I feel the life, I feel the excitement, and I feel the passion and I cannot wait to share all of this with you!
Love,
Wei

Wei I love your products. However I cannot find anymore your original china herbal foaming cleanser. My mother and I adore this cleanser, but not so much the advanced version. Will you bring back the original?
Wei- I love most of your products..almost all of the ones I have tried. I especially love the white lotus concentrate and receive it on a/s. I loved the Goji berry serum and concentrate. I have constantly dry lips and the Goji berry concentrate seems to be the best remedy that I have found anywhere. Are you going to continue the Goji berry? I would love to get both products on a/s. Any chance of that happening?
Andrea
Hello Wei,
I have been buying your China Herbal Foaming Cleanser for several years and bought a bunch of the old version because I loved it sooo much. Irecently had to change to the China Herbal Advanced Foaming cleanser and have been having nothing but problems. This new formula seems oily and my face has been left feeling greasy and I have been experiencing bad outbreaks. Please let me know if you have another product close to the old version that will give me that superclean feeling.
Hi Wei,
I have been trying many of your products over the past 4 years and have enjoyed all of them even if I didn’t continue with one product or another. I reeeeeeeaaaaaaaaally enjoy the Goji Berry serum you had in a set last year. I would love to buy more but don’t see? Is it not to be included anymore? I also LOVE the the China Herbal Hand cream and would love to have in Super size too!!
Thanks.
How can we find out your upcoming show schedule? Please advise. Thanks.
Wei, whatever happened to your Flawless by Nature “My Special
Concealer”? Was this product discontinued. This product was
awesome.

Wei, In August 2009, I believe you mentioned on air a Goji Berry Serum, is that product still availbale ?
Wei,
Thank you for sharing your traditions. I love the “Red Envelope” ! I am s l o w l y learning to speak Chinese, which has been fun.
Of course, I love your products! I know most of your customers are ladies, but I am a guy! Remember us too!
Happy New Year!
Hey Wei, I wanted to Know when will you bring back the “Hand and Body Perfection Cream” Buy 1 get 1 free? I love that cream!! Please tell me when you will have them in stock again?
Hi Wei, Happy New Year. I am a Monkey, not a Bunny.
Love the products, have tryed many others, but I keep coming back to Wei East. The new white lotus eye cream is wonderful.
Wei, I love everything I try in all your product lines. I wish you had MORE show times. You have even encouraged my 23 year old daughter to really take care of her skin. The China Herbal line is perfect for her. My best friend even has her husband using it now. Please, please schedule more times with HSN. I simply love to watch you and learn about ALL your products.
Wei,
I love, love your white lotus products and your eye products of all of your lines. I especially love the white lotus triple lotus retexturizing serum in the little tube and have tried to stock up on it but fear that it has been discontinued as I can not locate it on HsN. It is wonderful in the winter. It also gives my skin a dewy look that is not oily. Plese bring it back.
wei, i love your products and i love you! i try many products, but i always go back to yours. people tell me i have beautiful skin, and i owe it mostly to you…i have started eating organic and really taking care of myself as well….therefore, i am asking you to consider making your products without parabens as these may cause cancer as absorbed in the body…please address this the next time you are on hsn or blog about it…i know they are preservatives and extend shelf life
Love Love Love Chestnut and China Herbal products. Cleans and firms the skin so well. Thanks so much Wei!
Hi Wei, Happy Chinese New Year.
Just want to say that I love your products especially the eyes alive, Camellia Essential Oil Cleanser, and White Lotus Triple Hydration. I use your eyes alive for dark cirles only, the cleanser to remove my daily makeup, and the triple hydration at night to keep my skin looking healthy. Can you put these three products in a package for younger people like myself who don’t need anti-wrinkles yet so that we don’t have to buy them separately :) Thank you Wei
Love all of Wei East Products. I want the Hand and Body in the giant size, I love love love the stuff, please have the giant size this time without having to buy other products to get it.
hi,where is the rice cream that u made before and appear be discontinued…i love this cream and i want use again, plsss
Finally they are giving you more shows. China herbal classics and white lotus are my favs that I keep coming back to. Love your products and the fact you do not have 100’s of items.
