The Jewel of the Caribbean is Coming to HSN!

Submitted by Colleen Lopez on July 22, 2012 – 10:00 PM61 Comments

DSC025261 300x258 The Jewel of the Caribbean is Coming to HSN!Several years ago I laid eyes on Larimar.  I was vacationing with my family on the beautiful Island of Puerto Rico – our favorite tropical getaway! Were were shopping in the charming town of Old San Juan when I wondered into a small jewelry boutique filled with the most dreamy blue stone jewelry I had ever seen. It was love at first sight!  I wasn’t sure what I was looking at, but the tranquil blue color of Larimar reminded me of the beautiful Caribbean waters that surrounded us, and I knew I had to buy one of these beauties for my jewelry collection!

Larimar is one of the rarest gemstones in the world! It’s the blue variety of the mineral Pectolite and is only found in the Dominican Republic. It was discovered by a Dominican named Miguel Mendez in 1974. He was so mesmerized by the beauty of the stone and named it Larimar after his daughter Larissa and the Spanish word for the Sea – Mar.  The mining area is only one square kilometer in a remote mountainous region on the island.  It’s extremely difficult to find, and collectors all over the world covet this beautiful oceanic blue gem!

Larimar is often called the Blue Stone of Atlantis and is also known as the Dolphin Stone. Lore tells us that the stone dates back to the lost Island of Atlantis and that Dolphins can often be depicted in the soft white clouds that streak throughout the stone. Larimar symbolizes clarity, peace and love and it’s said to bring a calming presence to it’s wearer.

I’m trilled to tell you that on August 4th at midnight, Sajen Silver is bringing us our first-ever Larimar Today’s Special! This is a dream come true for me, as I’ve been asking our buyers for years to bring us this glorious stone at an amazing value. I hope you’ll be able to join us at midnight for the launch of our beautiful Todays Special. This Larimar and Sterling Silver ring is a must-have for gem lovers and collectors everywhere.  Your tropical oasis awaits!

Love,

Colleen

Please, please, please, please, please desigh a large jewelry box that has all relatively small squares – like maybe 8 x 4 (for a total of 32). I’m wanting a box that will individually hold a smaller pendant, enhancer, pair of earrings or necklace in each square…

    Thank you!!!!!

  • Purring says:

i’ve purchased 12 Prestige boxes: ring/necklace. ?-how can i be alerted when more & new boxes by this vendor will be aired or made available-? today i ordered 4 more boxes: 2 ring boxes in lace & 2 hanging earring squares. the boxes R pretty & functional; when the boxes first arrive new the faux material is already peeling off from the corners & i have to glue it. the necklace box that stands straight up has large hooks so i hung chains by attaching them to gold safety pins. my best, sasha

Hi Colleen, would like to pass an idea on to you for a new jewelry box. I love your jewelry boxes! How about a photo frame that hangs on the wall possibly a 15 x 12 that would hold an 8×10 photo. Make it to look like an average photo frame so would feel safe leaving jewelry out. Then it would open up to two sides of hanging necklaces. I have my rings easy to find in your boxes but would like to organize necklaces. Not everyone has need for the huge mirror box hsn sells, but small frame I DO

    Hi Colleen:
I wanted to get some info on your jewelry boxes. I wanted to get some some for her for Christmas; she has really good gold and silver jewelry and I was wondering if there are special jewelry boxes for these.
    Thank you,
    Claire

Colleen, sorry last post. After we saw you in your closet, her dream closet, all we could think was how beautiful you are inside&out rockin the leather jacket&boots.I would love to buy all your huge statement pieces for her even if she could only wear for 5 min.I need to get her a wedding ring. Her fingers are so swollen as she can’t get hers on,which is devastating for her,it is connected to her mother who is on hospice? What is your thought on the huge Lauren ring since it real vs absolute?Thank you

Dear Coleen. I might have to leave 2 messages, I apologize from the start. My wife tried to talk to live, last Sat. Sept. 7 2 hour show and they said they were patching her through then someone else came on and said she couldn’t talk to you since what we bought was in the hour prior unless we bought a Hemalyian item which she is, one of your favorites. My wife isn’t able to wear jewelry unless it is dainty and she is like you& loves huge, original jewelry like the bib necklace you had, more below

    Hi, Colleen!

Thanks so much for hosting your Heidi Daus presentation at 6 PM. Last time Sharif was having his event, it started at 4 PM, so by the time I got home, I missed a good portion of the show. What a heartache! I’m having a great time, I must say. Sharif and Heidi Daus are my very favorite HSN guests.
    Have a blessed weekend,
    Teresa

    Hi Colleen

I enjoy all of your shows/shopping at HSN for the past 20 years. However, I need to ask for your assistance with regards to some recent orders. Errors were made getting the correct color and style of DG2. Now with my most recent order, even though explaining to the rep that the order was to be sent to me and not my mom. Unfortunately, the package was left outside of her apartment door all day. We like shopping with you all what can we do to get accurate orders. Sincerely deb

    Hi, Colleen!

I have requested several times thru customer service that you bring back the Prestige box “Colleens croc embossed sunglass box”,item 430-109. It was $24.90. The reason this box is so nice is that each slot is large enough to hold “matching pieces” ie: neclace, earrings, pendant w/chain and even some types of bracelets. That way each set is in one place and you don’t have to hunt through several boxes to find matching pieces. Please, please bring it back! I need at least 10!

    Good morning, Colleen!

I just saw a presentation you and Aaron did on HSN 2 for an HP photosmart printer. You were wearing a lovely tan dress that looked like crochet. If you recall which dress this was, is it possibly one of your designer dresses we could order? It’s just wonderful!
Thanks so much. Wishing you and Aaron a blessed Labor Day weekend,
    Teresa

Sorry for long comments. My wife is in love with all your jewelry & we think you very classy. She loves “statement of art ring”& bib necklace, sold out right after she saw it,really wanted it. Is too sick to wear anything like that unless we get a miracle as her doctors aren’t sure how long she has to live.I would buy it for her to wear for 10 min. since she can’t even go outside.I wish i could afford another real diamond yet can’t so what Victoria Weick ring do you suggest to buy? Thank you.

    Hi Colleen,
I want to get my wife a ring as she is fighting for her life& her body is is so swollen the she can’t get her wedding ring on&it really makes her sad. Being the expert in jewelry,my wife loves all that is very original, big and chunky. She went to fashion school& was just about to launch her clothing/accesory line w/friend&then got sick.I want to describe what she likes as I am sure you are the perfect person to help guide me since my wife is in love with your style.Question is below.

Several years ago you presented an east-west oval ring in silver tone with ombre pink or blue crystals set into the oval. I got the pink and always get compliments on it. Now that you’re designing in stainless, I think you should revisit that idea. I’d love yellow or green or purple ombre, or even something that ombres into several colors for a rainbow effect. I’d love a whole matching suite of wahtever color(s) you select.

  • DaxterKat says:

I love your jewelry boxes! You had me at “tarnish free”! But I do wish that you would make them with 2 or 3 standard color choices, such as black, camel, and ivory. I want them all to match, but whenever I pick a color other than black, that color soon disappears from the list of options. I don’t much like black, and I hate the all black linings (they soak up all the light, and make it hard to see what I have). I love the ivory boxes, the camel boxes are nice too.

    Hi Colleen:

I never miss a Designer Gallery show. Thanks for bringing us cool designs at prices we “regular” divas can afford. I have a request. You could save me much time in therapy if you could help me find a Deb Guyot clear quartz Tribal Glam necklace. I bought the smoky for a friend (so long ago), missed getting the clear for myself and continue to obsessively search ebay and jewelry sites, hoping & praying. Could Deb reprise the Tribal Glam and save me? Blessings, Smiles, Samantha

    Hello, Colleen!

Just a lonely voice among so many, with a request that maybe you can bring back a suite of the Prestige boxes in the “Black Patent w/pink interior”. I was new to HSN at the end of their quantities and didn’t realize they would not be back or I would have purchased more. Anyway, just a thought – perhaps a one-time-thing at Christmas, maybe!! Thanks for listening.

    Colleen,

I bought the Sajen labordorite (?) bracelet. I love it, except it is too long, please pass on to the buyers/designers to make more adjustable bracelets. I am tempted to take a few links out of the bracelet, but I don’t want to ruin the design of the bracelet. Can this bracelet be shorten without ruining the design?

  • cancan989 says:

    Hello Colleen,

I am disappointed in the larimar set I received–I bought the ring, pendant, necklace and earrings. None of the items look close to the beautiful photos of the TS in your blog or on hsn.com. I was expecting vivid blues with white in the ring, but got a dull greenish blue instead with no swirls of white. (Similar results with the other pieces)please pass on these comments to the buyers, I feel that what I received was vastly different than what was represented. I loved the design

  • MissBera says:

    Dear Colleen,

If only just one of the rings I received looked a quarter as good as the Sajen Larimar ring above here on your Blog page I would have been happy. I was saddened by the quality of the stones I received. They all looked liked very bleached out denim, mostly whitish and nothing at all like quality Larimar, and certainly not like the rings that were televised during the 8/4 launch. Oh well. Sometimes you win… In any case, you’re the best. XX, Beryl

    • MissBera says:

I’m a Sajen fan, but another complaint. Sajen’s manmade “tornado” Quartz ring and pendant, etc. are a BIG disappointment. Both the pendant and the ring have developed lots of little black spots in the tornado colors, so I wouldn’t advise ever selling those again because they were expensive, I only wore them a half dozen times or so to watch TV, they were never wet and always kept in a Prestige box. They just didn’t last! The treatment broke down. :o( Beryl

    • ColleenLopez says:

      Hi Beryl,
Thank you for your message. I’m sorry to hear you’re unhappy with the quality of your Larimar stones. We showed many samples during the on air presentation to try to show the color range as no two stones look the same. I know the Jacobs worked very hard to choose stones that met their standards for the Today’s Special – I will pass on your comments and concerns. Take care, Colleen

    • ColleenLopez says:

      Hi Beryl,
I commented about the Larimar below (sorry about that) – I will also pass on your comments about the Tornado Quartz to our buyers and the Jacobs. Thank you for your feedback and for watching and shopping with us. Best, Colleen

      • MissBera says:

Thanks Colleen! You are the best. I like a lot of HSN hosts, but you’re still my fave. I was deleting cable channels years ago and came across this dazzling saleswoman selling this amazing jewelry. I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen. It was you! First time I ever bought anything from a TV show. Now, tens of thousands later, I’m still buying. You are amazing! I wish I had a quarter of your class and pizazz. And your 16 Prestige boxes solved my spaghetti bowl glob of jewelry problem! XX Beryl

    Good morning, Colleen!

You are my favorite HSN host. In fact, my first HSN purchase was from you–a lovely marcasite rose ring.
Do you think there is any possibility of your necklace box coming back? I find myself buying lots of necklaces lately. I don’t have pierced ears. So I am always getting the necklaces I love. Your show with Amy Kahn Russell yesterday was so amazing–especially the painted palm tree bracelet. I ordered the purple flower ring.
    Blessings 2 u,
    Teresa
