Autism Awareness Month: My Story

Wei April 1 Autism Awareness Month: My StoryDear friends,

April is world Autism Awareness Month. April is also my son, Alex’s birthday month. Many of you know that my son Alex was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 6. Last week we were blessed to celebrate his 13th birthday.

More and more recently, I have been invited to all sorts of charity events to raise awareness about Autism. It is as if the whole world is searching for answers to the mystery that is Autism. I too, have been there before.

Like any mom desperate to help their child, I tried all the Western methods, because I was simply lost and looking for a solution. After 5 years of trying all types of pills, shots, and dietary changes Alex improved a bit here and there, but I knew that we were only scratching the surface with these Western techniques. Finally, it was like a light bulb went off and I went back to what I really believe in – Traditional Chinese Medicine, TCM. With help through friends, my husband & I made a connection with a Chinese Herbal Doctor who had a different approach than we had ever considered for treating Autism. The moment we met her we knew in our hearts that we had found a solution to help address Alex’s condition. After only 14 months he is off all the pills and shots. Alex now has the freedom to eat any balanced foods – no more special diets, he only drinks Chinese herbal tonics and has acupuncture treatments once a week .

The result – he is growing tall and happy! In just the last 5 months Alex has learned to read and write, something I secretly feared he may never learn to do. Just three weeks before his 13th birthday he even wrote a short story for me. It surely brought tears into my eyes. More than ever, I know that Alex is truly the light of my life. He has changed me and my family life so beautifully in more ways than I could ever imagine.

Wei April 2 Autism Awareness Month: My StoryI have always believed “everything happens for a reason” even before I struggled with all of Alex’s health problem, I have always held strong to my belief. Today I can honestly say I know why God gave Alex to me. He is a gift. Only through him have I learned to live a balanced life. Also I learned a much deeper side of TCM and it’s given me the opportunity to share my experiences with all of you – What I’ve learned and what I’ve experienced. It is beyond the passion, it is a mission God gave to me to help families in the world to benefit through Chinese herbal wisdom and philosophy. I only hope that maybe one day I can help even more families with Autistic children find their solution.

What a beautiful thing.

Love,
Wei
