There’s No Place Like Home
Hi everyone. I’m back in New Mexico, and as Dorothy said, “there’s no place like home.” It’s always good to get back, to the “Land of Enchantment”. What a great time of the year – the green chili roasters have sprouted up all over town. I don’t think there is a more amazing smell than the aroma of roasting fresh green chili in the air. This is one of the first indications that fall is right around the corner.
We just returned from a long, but wonderful trip overseas. I was adding up the flying hours this morning, and as far as I can remember it took about seventy hours of sitting on a plane or in an airport to get to our final destination. I am always amazed at how long it takes to get from point “A” to point “B”. It’s a vast world we live in. Every time I venture out I always think I’ve seen it all and I won’t be able to find anything new. Yet I continue to be amazed by all the wonder that nature provides in what many might view as just “a rock.” This trip was extremely rewarding – we found some amazing materials. The best part is that several are perfect to accent the new fall fashion trends, at least that is what my team has told me. I know you can’t believe that I think about such things, but I really do, after all I am surrounded by women! It’s really fun to go on-air and show you our latest “Mine Finds”, but what’s really great is the memories it brings back of how we discovered them, which means I get to share the stories with each and every one
of you.

I won’t spoil the surprises and tell you everything we discovered, but I will tell you we were able to find some fabulous new and exciting “Mine Finds” that you will be seeing in future designs.
Later in the month I am back on the 22nd through the 24th with some tremendous late summer and fall “hits.” See you soon.

Just as you know I bleed red, white and blue. I guess a story can better tell this story. A few years back I was sitting around a table playing poker with cowboy friends during a roundup. This subject came up, I said, ” I”ll bet any one of you $100.00 if you are not wearing anything not made in the USA”. Guess what, no one would bet me. I know how you feel, but it’s not reality in today’s environment. Just so you know I am responsible for “Chaco Canyon” on HSN. So if you want Native American jewelry please support the show. I do hear you. J

No, most are not. We do use pressed, and it’s real… it is not as valuable as none pressed. A lot of what I see in the market is not real. J

I have a necklace that broke this morning; I purchased this item less than a year ago and have worn it maybe three times and was quite disappointed. I have so many pieces I cannot recall exactly what combination is in this piece–black agate and maybe howlite (greyish colored stone) but I was able to keep all the beads. They simply broke as I lifted out of the drawer. Thanks for your help.
Jay – Will you be bringing back Mexican Saginite? I just love that stone! It should be quite an event in October trying to get one of your coveted bowls – hopefully you’ll bring some film showing how they are made. I know that I would love any gemstone bowl from you – they don’t have to be turquoise :)
HI JAY: I LOVED YOUR NAKOZARI TURQUOISE STERLING SILVER DROP EARRINGS iTEM #405-031, UNFORTUNATELY I LOST ONE OF THE EARRINGS. I HAVE NEVER LOST AN EARRING BEFORE. IS THERE ANY WAY GETTING A REPLACEMENT? IF NOT, I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO PURCHASE THEM AGAIN.
HI JAY!
THANK YOU FOR RESPONDING TO ME ABOUT THE TURQUOISE BOWLS–READING YOUR BLOG IT SEEMS LIKE TRYING TO GET A BOWL IN OCTOBER WILL BE LIKE GETTING WORLD SERIES TICKETS OR WINNING THE LOTTERY! HOW EXCITING!– I’M READY TO GIVE IT MY BEST–LOVE A CHALLENGE–IF I’M NOT LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET A LARGE ONE I’LL TRY AGAIN IN NOVEMBER FOR THE SMALLER ONE. LOVE-LOVE ALL YOUR JEWERLY–HAVE MANY PIECES–THANKS AGAIN–SEE YOU IN OCTOBER
During your show the weekend of August 21, 2009, you talked about the stone your piece of jewelry was made of and where the stone came from. You stated that the stone was from Mexico, and no longer being mined. You had stockpiled enough rough over the past three years to carve. What stone were you referring to and which pieces of jewelry contained this stone? I anxiously await your reply. Sincerely, JAC
You’ve had chunky red coral & turq. necklaces many times. I bought an all coral necklace and matching earrings not too long ago–had to return them–both were broken. I just ordered another coral & turquoise necklace and you did not have the matching earrings. You had some whimpy little hoops made of chips that were horrible and completely disproportionate to the necklace. Can you please make coral earrings that are proportionate to the necklaces you sell?
Thanks jay for the beautiful mine finds i have many necklaces and earring i get so many compliments
This weekend i bought 3 necklaces can’t wait until i get them
I have a question is there such a stone as ( white turqoise).
Jay keep up the good work thanks
Thanks is not enough to tell you how you have helped me increase my love of the beauty in stones, especially turquoise. You and your team really made a brilliant creation when you mixed turquoise, tiger’s eye and citrine. The mix of rhodonite, rose quartz, purple agate, blue lace agate, amethyst and turquoise made a beauty that can be worn with everything! Thanks a million. Can’t wait to see you in October.
Hi, Jay
I love all your jewelry! I have many pieces. I am waiting for your bowls but with so few it will be hard to get one. Have you ever thought about doing a butterfly pendant? This would be beautiful, I know, because of all the wonderful and colorful stones that you find in your travels. Keep the big ones coming. I love the big and bold
Hi, Jay,
There are several references to an October show. Since I will be traveling the earlier part of the month I wondered if someone could tell me specifically when your shows would be on….I don’t want to miss out on the turquoise bowls since I eye them every time they are on the air. Thanks much!
Hi Jay, I watched just about every hour of every show you had this past weekend.I purchased the turq, citrine and tigers eye necklace.I had purchased the matching earrings a few months ago so I am very excited to receive the necklace.I also bought the turq and amethyst earrings.I, like everyone else it seems, would love to get on a waiting list for the turquoise bowls. It seems like it’s going to be next to impossible to get a bowl unless there is some way of reserving one. HELP!!
Wondering if there will be any more Purple Florite Root Earrings? Hoping for Mushroom Rhyolite Necklace and Silver Cliffs Jasper earrings and bracelet. I have the matching pieces but could not get through fast enought to make the sets whole ensembles! Keep up all your wonderful mine finds!
Jay, I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciated the hooks that I received from your office just after the first of the year. I also had a really good time this weekend as I purchased about 9 or 10 items. I am planning to be in Albuquerque lateer this month (Sept) and I wondered if the address of your store had changed. Look forward to seeing more goodies and hearing from you..
Dear Jay,
I love watching your shows and hearing about the stones and where they come from. I’ve been getting a thing or two during the shows when I can. I love your stuff! YOU ROCK! I wish I could work for you and go rock hunting all over the world~but since I don’t think that will happen, I wish you would make tags/descriptions for the pieces so that when we hand them down they will know where they come from and what they are. I hope I have room on my card for October!
Can I get on a WAITLIST for the turquoise bowl? Where is your store located? In NM? Recently vacationed throughout NM. SO BEAUTIFUL, from Toas all the way down to TX border. My husband spent several of his childhood years in NM. Cannnot wait to go back again! Starting with TOAS again. Saving $$ for your October show. I own numerous pieces from your line and am replacing my precious gemstone jewelry with your natural stone jewelry. Thanks for such impressive designs!
Your jewelry is as awesome as the story behind it. My frustration is that I am a JEWELRY SET KINDA GIRL. I wear earrings/necklace/bracelet/ring all together in my ensemble. Please try to make more sets. By the time I have purchased one or two of your pieces in a set, the other 2 pieces sell out. It seems there are not as many earrings and rings as there are bracelets and necklaces. Look forward to October show & hope I can get through for the turquoise bowl b4 it sells out.
Fantastic Shows! I always learn so much hearing your stories! It really teachs me alot about the stones. I shar with those who want to know, you are my secret jeweler from AZ. You mentioned your store? Where is that located? Holding my breathe for the bowls & crossing my fingers with only 100! What a gifted man & team!
Hello Jay,
I love your jewelry. I was one of those girls that didn’t move fast enough for the beaded multicolor tiger eyes necklace, please bring more next time, and please bring white Drusy rings and the petrified wood jewelry. I enjoy listening about your trips, your wisdom on gems and the free education we get. Looking forward to your show. God bless.
Hi Jay, I would love to purchase a Black Coral piece from your collection and was curious to find out if there’s anything in Black coral coming soon? I have so many of your pieces. I love them all and would also love to see more Lapis and Turquoise combinations in earrings and rings. Thanks so much keep being inspired by natures stones.
How do I get on a waitlist for the bowl. I love your jewelry and look forward to each new mine find. Thanks
Hello Jay, I am a huge fan of your jewelry and have many of your pieces but I couldn’t take my eyes off that bowl! I would love to have it. Can I order it ahead or be on a waiting list?
I would love the large one but also would love the small one which ever is available. I love your adventure stories they make the jewelry more exciting.
Good Morning Jay,
You must be tired after all those shows.. I am as I was up all night watching the last 3 shows. I saw a magnetic closure pendant..are you going to have more like that? I have another necklace that I want some of you pendants for but the vail on the one’s I have of yours will not fit over the chain. It has to have a magnetic one or some other type of clasp. Just wondering since you did show the one the air and said it was new.
Thanks for the educational shows.
I am interested in learning more about gemstones used in jewelry, their properties, where found, historical lore, determining quality, etc. There are so many books – can you recommend one? Better yet, have you written one?
Jay, How or what do I have to do to reserve the tourquise bowl? Living in the desert southwest it will be a wonderful addition to my home and I already have a special place to display it. I have many of your jewelry pieces and love every single one of them. I get so many compliments when I wear any of them. Thanks for bringing these wonderful pieces to us and I look forward to adding the bowl to my collection of Jay King.
Hi Jay!! all I can say is, I want the bowl! Can I get on a wait list or get an email when it will be out? I saw you over the weekend and you said only 100 bowls. How is that going to work? My living room is decorated in southwest design with lots of turquoise accents. love your stuff. Libby
