There’s No Place Like Home

Hi everyone. I’m back in New Mexico, and as Dorothy said, “there’s no place like home.” It’s always good to get back, to the “Land of Enchantment”. What a great time of the year – the green chili roasters have sprouted up all over town. I don’t think there is a more amazing smell than the aroma of roasting fresh green chili in the air. This is one of the first indications that fall is right around the corner.

We just returned from a long, but wonderful trip overseas. I was adding up the flying hours this morning, and as far as I can remember it took about seventy hours of sitting on a plane or in an airport to get to our final destination. I am always amazed at how long it takes to get from point “A” to point “B”. It’s a vast world we live in. Every time I venture out I always think I’ve seen it all and I won’t be able to find anything new. Yet I continue to be amazed by all the wonder that nature provides in what many might view as just “a rock.” This trip was extremely rewarding – we found some amazing materials. The best part is that several are perfect to accent the new fall fashion trends, at least that is what my team has told me. I know you can’t believe that I think about such things, but I really do, after all I am surrounded by women! It’s really fun to go on-air and show you our latest “Mine Finds”, but what’s really great is the memories it brings back of how we discovered them, which means I get to share the stories with each and every one
of you.

Meeting of the minds

I won’t spoil the surprises and tell you everything we discovered, but I will tell you we were able to find some fabulous new and exciting “Mine Finds” that you will be seeing in future designs.

Later in the month I am back on the 22nd through the 24th with some tremendous late summer and fall “hits.” See you soon.

Safe travels, J

I am sorry you are having a problem. Unfortunately we received some bad stringing product. We have corrected this matter as soon as we discovered it. Please write me and give me your personal information and I will contact you. J

Virginia, OK
We are always working on new rings. I’m sure we will have something that can go with what you have purchased down the road. The problem with rings is all the sizes we have to make. We have lots of rings coming up in the near future. J

Carol, CA
It comes from a deposit in China called “Saddle Mountain”. It’s a long story. J

Paula, OK
Just as you know I bleed red, white and blue. I guess a story can better tell this story. A few years back I was sitting around a table playing poker with cowboy friends during a roundup. This subject came up, I said, ” I”ll bet any one of you $100.00 if you are not wearing anything not made in the USA”. Guess what, no one would bet me. I know how you feel, but it’s not reality in today’s environment. Just so you know I am responsible for “Chaco Canyon” on HSN. So if you want Native American jewelry please support the show. I do hear you. J

Beth, VA
Thanks, we are out of rough right now. J

Meg, CA
Please write me with your personal contact information and I will take care of you. J

So far I have not seen white turquoise that tested out. The chalk I have seen is too soft. J

Kristina
Sorry that was a one time buy, maybe down the road. J

Donna, AZ
Thanks I’ll keep your design ideas in mind. As always anything I do is affordable. The bowls will be a lot less than you can find them. J

I’m working on Chrysucolla now. J

No, most are not. We do use pressed, and it’s real… it is not as valuable as none pressed. A lot of what I see in the market is not real. J

Jay, do you foresee doing any pieces in larimar? I am so intrigued by this stone and I do not own any as of yet so I am hesitant about making any random purchases. I trust all of your findings and would buy a collection from you without blinking.

  • Joanne, GA says:

Love your creations, have you ever purchased turquoise from the Number Eight mine in Nevada?
It is unbelievable material. I have a bold pendant that was made from the material there, it was purchased from the dealer in Crescent Valley. Check it out. Looking forward to the bowl. Thanks

Jay your things are beauiful. I orderes a beaded necklace from you that was a fab blue but it was broken when I received it and I can’t remember the stone, I do remember you saying that quantities if this stone were limited and it sold out before I could get another order in. It was a sky blue rather transparent, not opaque. I know you’re not a mind reader but I sure wish you could find some more. And…bring more lapis, particularly in earrings.

  • Carol, CA says:

    Hi Jay,
There were a few high-end pieces on the HSN website for about one day. They were gorgeous — will there be more of these? Will you be getting any more Russian serpentine?

  • DORIS, LA says:

    JAY,

I PURCHASED YOUR TURQUOISE INLAY STERLING RING(ITEM 397108). I THINK THIS WAS THE STONE FROM THE OLD NUMBER 8 MINE IN NEVADA. DO YOU HAVE A TURQUOISE NECKLACE THAT WILL GO WITH THIS COLOR TURQUOISE, EVEN IF NOT EXACT COLOR? I REALLY LIKE THE RING AND SOFT COLOR OF THE STONE, BUT IT IS REALLY HARD TO DETERMINE COLOR FROM THE INTERNET.

  • Marilyn, WI says:

Hi Jay….I love your sets & here are my suggested guidelines: If there’s a necklace, there
are matching earrings. If there is a cuff, there’s a matching ring. If there’s a ring, there’s a matching cuff. If you follow my guidelines, then all I have to find is the right
color shirt to go with…. (LOL) Regards, Marilyn

  • Marilyn, WI says:

Hi Jay……A friend intro’ed you to me several years ago & now I have a dresser full of your
pieces. I take the item’s picture & size it to fit on the lid of the box with a description
of the stones for ease of finding the right piece & I’m also ready for questions. I like
knowing about the materials I’m wearing so thank you for providing what you can & hope there
will be more information posted in the future. Warm Regards, Marilyn

  • Pat, CA says:

Do you think you will ever have a ring in gold using a dentritic moss agate?

  • Iraida, MD says:

    Hi Jay,
I could tell right away you read my blog when I saw the tiger’s eye necklace on back order. I bought it before they ran out again. Thank you so very much. This type of customer service is what makes us keep coming back to you. Thanks and Happy Labor Day Weekend.

  • Melissa, LA says:

Jay, I love the piece pictured here on your blog. I can’t tell if it is tuquoise or jasper but it is on a chord. What stone is this and is it still available? I LOVE your jewelry!

  • Nancy, TX says:

    Hi Jay:

During your last show on HSN, I ordered the Turquoise Inlay Sterling Silver Ring which I love. However, I ordered a size 7 for my index finger which is what I normally wear on that finger. I had to return the ring because I found that I needed a size 8. The only size available on HSN was a size 5 or 6. My question is will you have this ring back in a size 8. I certainly hope so as it is beautiful, and just what I’ve been looking for.
I’ll be looking for your answer.

    Thanks

  • Carol, IL says:

I missed out on the African Amethysts 40 in necklace, any chance of it returning?

  • Vicki, NY says:

Hello Jay. I always enjoy your shows. I was watching the show on August 23rd, and I couldn’t believe that one of the callers was asking you to bring to HSN some jewelry pieces made of bloodstone! I can’t find bloodstone jewelry anywhere. Thank you for making rings in large sizes also. Love all your designs!

  • Margaret, OR says:

    Hello Jay,
You and your team are amazing and you do supurb work. I so much enjoy wearing my pieces from you. One request I have is if you would make your 4 strand pearl and gemstome necklaces longer, say 30 inches. They are absolutely beautiful and I would love to start a collection of them, just need them longer. Many thanks and God Bless you on your future ventures out into this fabulous world of gemstones.

  • Deb, CO says:

    Hi Jay -
Love your jewelry. Are your amber pieces all pressed amber? If so, is pressed amber less valuable? See you on HSN in October.

  • Mary, GA says:

I love your jewelry. The bigger and bolder the better. Like my makeup it comes from the earth. I would like a necklace made of chrysocolla. I thought I remembered one you did before but there isn’t one in stock. I have a little piece of chrysocolla and I am going to purchase one of Colleen’s rings but I sure would like to have a necklace with the blues and earth tones. Thanks for all the beautiful things you have made throughout the years and stay safe and healthy on your travels.

  • Karen, TX says:

Jay, I purchased the Malachite Pendant and necklace last weekend and received it yesterday. Although I will be in Cozumel in late October and knew they had plenty of Malachite from past visits there, I must say that I am extremely pleased with the pendant and overall quality of the necklace. I really like your beads and suggest you might offer necklaces only minus the pendants. Sometimes customers like pendants only or perhaps just necklaces.

  • Donna, AZ says:

Jay, Your creations are beautiful! I often enjoy wearing several of them. I love the design of the Seafloor Jasper piece that I just ordered. Would you consider doing a couple more pieces in the same style with the same pearls -one with Lapis and another with the Robin’s egg colored Turquoise? I think the contrast with the pearls would be striking. It’s such an elegant style. Also, what is the best way to ensure my purchasing one of the large turquoise bowls? Will they be affordable? Thank you!

  • Kristina says:

Jay, I love your designs and own several pieces. About 3 years ago you did a Hubei Turquoise necklace with big chunky stones. The necklace had about twenty round to ovalish stones of solid Hubei Tuquoise. I think the length was 18 inches with a 2 inch extender. It was a bold necklace and I missed out on it. Will you bring the necklace back? PLEASE!

  • Barbara, NE says:

What are the chances of see White Turq? I would love to see what you and your designers creatively could do on a White Turq Cross with the feminine lines as on the Maanshan Turq Cabochon Cross Item 375-352 3/09 but a little larger. Love your work!

  • Meg, CA says:

Thank you so much for all the beautiful jewelry! I just received my amber beads with the amber and peridot pendant very nice! I have an old piece that needs repair. Actually it has needed repair for about 4 or 5 yrs. It’s the serpentine, rose quartz and amethyst lariat style necklace. It was always kept safe and never pulled on but it came apart at the bottom tassle area. How and where can I send it to you for repair? I miss wearing it! Thanks always, Meg
