After Tucson

Well here I sit in Vancouver, Canada, waiting for my flight overseas. Times like this I wonder what I could have been thinking when I booked this trip. It just dawned on me this morning the Winter Olympics just happen to be going on. This has made for long lines and lots of full fights.
Our group has survived Tucson and points west for now, and all we have to do is tie up all the loose ends and get our rough materials gathered up and shipped. Everyone is very busy working on new designs and planning out our next shows. This is always fun with just enough stress put into the mix to make it interesting. I have to say I’m truly excited about all the new Mine Finds we have obtained, plus some of the wonderful new rough materials we have put together over the past couple of months on the road. It’s truly been an adventure and I can’t wait to share the fruits of our labor of love with everyone. By the time I get to my first destination I will have been on a plane for twenty-two hours and a day and a half travel time, but it’s truly worth it because I get to visit some new friends from down under that we meet in Tucson. They have many new quality materials direct from the mines, so I can’t wait to start sorting through them. So with backpack in hand, and some good sturdy hiking boots; I take off on my next little adventure. I’ve really enjoyed reading your thoughts on the blog and of course all the new ideas and requests. I never get tired of new ideas or just the general knowledge and feedback I’ve been receiving. I want to thank everyone for their time and also let everybody know I want to be able to answer the blog questions and comments in a timely fashion. But with a very tight travel schedule at times it makes it harder. Please rest assured everyone is very important to us and I will get back with you as soon as I can. Love your collections!!! I’ve just started the passion for jewelry. But I have a question that nobody can seem to answer for me. How do you clean silver when it has gemstones with it? I use baking soda and water for just my silver. But is it safe to use on pieces that have turquoise or other gems? How do I clean silver that has gems on it? Please help.

Hi Jay – love your jewelry! I live in VA where we take the kids mining. We have TONS of amazonite, raw amethyst and other types of quartz. Can you tell me where we could sell these stones or, better yet, can you tell me the steps/tools to drill tiny holes so that I can make my own jewelry with the stones? I assume I need to get a rock tumbler to smooth the stones first? Any info or websites, etc you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I hate for the stones to go to waste. Thanks!
