Jay King: Back In Florida; Back on HSN

Sharing Tree use 213x300 Jay King: Back In Florida; Back on HSN[pictured here: Sharing our Blessings with our Adoptive Family]

Well it’s that special time of the year again and I’m back home in Florida this month.

We have part of our family coming this year for the Holidays, so I’ve just finished decorating the house and I’m sure it can be seen at night from the space station. It’s almost like a bad movie, but fun to do. I love color in everything I do and our house sure has it now, its sparkling and glowing, just like a lot of our new Mine Finds. This year has gone by so fast and it’s nice to take a few steps back and rerun all the fun and exciting things that have occurred this year.

We’ve traveled the world and found so many new materials and got to meet and make several new friends along the way. I always feel so grateful for everyone who has helped us make this another fabulous year. As I always say, I couldn’t do what I love without all the support we get from everyone who enjoys what Mother Nature provides us all. So to finish off 2012 we have one more great event. I’ll have our last show on the 29th thru the 31st of December. I’m always excited about showing you what we’ve been working on, and this event is no different for sure. We have an amazing Todays Special: It features turquoise from Tibet and Mongolia in a fabulous new silhouette, I’m sure you’ll enjoy. From what I can see we will be offering turquoise from a dozen different mines around the world and many more Mine Finds in opal, labadorite, lapis, corals, and many others.

As has become a tradition for this time of year we will also be offering lots of last minute values for things we still have in stock. This is the time to take advantage of what I call crazy deals. For decor items I have something very special. Imagine a turquoise bowl made from genuine Kingman turquoise nuggets. It all started with over four pounds of these turquoise nuggets which were hand sculpted into a bowl by our local artists in Kingman Arizona. These bowls have been a labor of love and a long time in the making so it’s with great pride I have the pleasure of presenting them. So I’m hoping everyone can take a few minutes and share with us everything we have put together to end this year with a bang.

So until then safe travels and Happy Holidays. J

Hi, Jay, I’m very late letting you know how much I adore my turquoise bowl I bought after Xmas. And the best thing is my husband really likes it, too. I’ve tried not to miss any of your shows – I’ve been following you since your very first HSN show, and have 1 entire jewelry armoire full of only Jay King jewelry, plus I ran oout of room so it’s also filling a cabinet in my living room. I have a couple of other bowls you’ve done, but this last one is spectacular!! Please do the same style bowl in other stone chips, as the look & style are wonderful. I’m craving one in any other stone you have lots of chips for. After all, you do say all the time there’s a lot of stone wasted when your artisans make roung beads, so now there’’s a place to use the wasted stones.

    • Jay King says:

Thanks for your continued support. I love that turquoise bowl also and its one of our big pushes right now to use our local artists to create things you can see no where else. It truly is a labor of love in everything we do. We’ll I’ve been home two days and time to get packed and out to Tucson. So off to pull the palne out, Adios Airlines, and get it ready for in the morning. Hope to see you soon. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts best J

Hi Jay Sorry but I misspelled amazonite but am hoping for a single strand similar to the amazonite and sunrise stone but all the amazing blue color and chunky. If it’s not possible there are no worries because you always have amazing pieces.Take care and god bless :)

  • joy522 says:

Hi Jay,Cannot wait till the feb show.I am wondering if you will have more pieces in the amazing blue amonazite. The color is so very amazing. Thanks for everything you do for us girls.Take care and have fun and enjoy everything to the fullest.

    • Jay King says:

I’ve got lots of fun stuff coming up in Feb. event. I think your talking about the tropical amazonite. I have purchased more of the rough so I’ll be doing something down the road. I’m not sure where exactly the shipment is because of the New Year and holidays the ports are all backed up right now. I’ve got some real interesting things to show you. I’m heading back now from overseas to Tucson. Thanks for the interest J

I recently added to my collection – among the new pieces were the Opaque Sapphire Desert Rosé Metal Pendant and Earrings. I absolutely LOVE them. One question though; Do you have a twisted rope chain in Desert Rosé Metal to wear the pendant on as an alternative to the collars?

    Thank you — Paulette

  • mtny says:

Hi Jay! Great to speak to you at long last during your “special deals” visit. Rather than new copper pendants with larger bales or longer necklaces with clasps, I’d like to see two types of metal adapters: one to make a copper pendant I already own able to fit on a chain rather than a collar (like a jump ring attached to an enhancer finding) and one that will shorten a longer necklace (like they make for pearls). Thanks and safe travels! “Metaphysical” Marsha

    Jay,
I purchased your Turquoise Desert Rose Necklace (item # 225855 on HSN). Can it be made shorter so that it fits more like a choker. My local jeweler is afraid to do it. Any suggestions on how it can be done?

  • stormy51 says:

Hi Jay! I bought several of your jewerly on your last visit. I just love everything. I would like to know if anything can be done about a necklace I bought before thanksgiving it was shaped like little pumpkins and was made out of turquoise. I thought it would be fun to wear it on Thanksgiving. I just got it out to wear it for the secound time and was suprised one of the beads was broke and laying in the bag and another one is chipped. I know these sold out, is their anything you can do

    • stormy51 says:

      Dear Jay,
I wrote to you back in December about a necklace I bought before Thanksgiving that was shaped like little turquoise pumpkins. I have not received a reply and was wondering if anything can be done about two of the pumpkin shaped beads are broke. I only wore once and was getting it out to wear again and discovered the broken beads. Thanks and best wishes.

  • momonthego says:

have bought multiple pendants from you in the past but sadly had to return them cause they didnt fit any of my necklaces.

  • momonthego says:

i got a pendant from you, the lapis one. its beautiful but doesnt fit any of my necklaces. im not a collar girl. was wondering if i send it in if theres any way you can make the bail larger on it for me? i dont want to take it somewhere else and compromise the workmanship. thank you.

  • HI JAY – I’M BRINGING UP THE 40″ GARNET MULTI-SHAPED NECKLACE WHICH I BOUGHT TWO OF – I’M GLAD THAT IT DOESN’T HAVE A CLASP BECAUSE I DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT WHERE THE CLASP IS, BUT THE 40″LENGTH IS JUST A BIT SHORT FOR DOUBLING – AND A TIGHT FIT TO GET THE SECOND LOOP OVER MY HEAD SO PLEASE MAKE YOUR STANDARD LONG NECKLACE 42″ OR EVEN LONGER. THANKS FOR READING – MARILYN

  • yolie59 says:

    Greetings and blessings Jay,
About a year ago I asked if you would please develop copper hoop earrings. You always listen to your customers and I did purchase the hoops you introduced, however, I was actually waiting for the long thin copper hoops for us gals with long hair. Do you think this is something that might come about in the future?

    • Jay King says:

Hi I did listen to you and actually did several styles that were totally cool. Problem is we didn’t have any stone in them so we weren’t allowed to put them on. I’m hoping this will change if not please contact us thru HSN Customer service they can tell you how to contact us in a secure manner, and we’ll see what can be done. Your very important to us. Sorry for the late response its been an adventure with the new changes to the web page but it looks like were back in business now. J

  • HI JAY – HAPPY NEW YEAR – I’M ONE OF YOUR STERLING SILVER FANS ALTHO I COULDN’T RESIST THE NEW ROSE METAL PIECES MAINLY BECAUSE OF YOUR SKILLS WITH DESIGN. I DO NOT WANT TO POLISH OR FUSS WITH MY JEWELRY SO THE COPPER PIECES DIDN’T WORK OUT FOR ME. I’M WRITING BECAUSE I WAS WEARING ONE OF YOUR NEWER TURQUOISE PENDANTS (RING & EARRINGS TOO AS I’M A MATCHY MATCHY PERSON)ON THE SILVER NECKWIRE WITH THE ROUND CIRCLE IN FRONT AND MY DAUGHTER ADMIRED IT. PLEASE BRING BACK IN STOCK SO I CAN GET HER ONE

  • CaroltheGG says:

    Dear Jay,
….and a happy new year to you! I can’t wait to see what you’ll be offering next.
I do have a question for you, though, regarding the Brockman jasper. My mother was a Brockman and I’m wondering if the Brockmans after whom the jasper was named are relatives. What is the story behind the jasper and the mine where it originated?
Your show is my favorite shopping program. As a G.G., I’m always interested in what you find and in the minerals that compose your finds.
    Best, Carol

    • Jay King says:

Hi Carol I’ll reserch your question more. This material is extremely rare and it usually is found at rock shows where you have custom lapidarist cutting freeform one of a kind cabachons and they are exspensive. I’ve tried to get this for years. I was able to buy rough from a private collection and aquired enough to do this project only. They got it from the mine a long time ago but were retiring, so I got it. I’ll see if they know anything. Best J Sorry for the delayed response

  • maarz says:

    Hi Jay
Subject – Upcoming clean kit AND Sparkle Sparkler jewelry cleaner.
I purchased your gorgeous thick round copper necklace & beautiful turquoise nugget silver/copper pendant.
Question 1 – As much as I love the set, after reading the reviews/blog regarding discoloration, will you PLEASE tell me if the HSN product SPARKLE SPARKLE will work for these items? I already own some.
Question 2 – Can I put clear nail polish or a craft spray-on sealer to keep the copper from tarnishing?
    Thanks
    Sandy

    • Jay King says:

Sandy we have a cleaning kit coming soon that will clean anything we make easily and safely. I’m not sure about the Sparkle Sparkle. I don’t recomend the nail polish it will peel. once we release the kit if you are having problems please contact me and I’ll take care of you. J Sorry for the late response couldn’t be helped

  • momonthego says:

    • Jay King says:

Our Febuary show is the 16th, 17th, and 18th. As far a lapis cuff I have something coming up in May that is going to blow you away. They will be limited but I really had my design juju turned up when I did this one. I hope when you see it you feel the same way. Thanks for your support and sorry for the delayed response. J

  • ASKME says:

    Hi Jay,
Happy New Year and a safe and healthy one. Jay, I bought your labradorite pendant which is just beautiful but the opening for the pendant is so small that you cant put a chain in it. I sadly had to return it.

  • AtlantisGirl says:

Hi Jay! I love reading the comments here! We DO need to start a Jay King Anonymous support group! LOL!!

Now, having said that, I would love for you to design more items for home decor. How about some inlay spheres, obelisks, or paperweights? Desk accessories? Carved Native American fetish figures? Carved stone charms for charm bracelets (or even for earring drops)? I adore your bold designs the best! Thanks for all you do. Bring back the treasures & be safe!

  • wyp says:

    Hi Jay,
Hope you and yours have a wonderful an blessed New Year. I received my first piece of Desert rose metal it is just beautiful. I have a few pieces of copper not real crazy about it, but absolutely love the desert rose metal. I hope you continue to offer this metal I would like to collect some. I have over 300 of your silver designs and a few of the copper. You have safe trips. I know you will find us some pretties. Looking forward to watching you again. stay safe.

    • Jay King says:

Thanks for the input it really helps. The Desert Rose metal is a custom blend with silver being part of it. It has unique colors and we’ve spent alot of time and money on getting it in the loop. We’re still working out the kinks on what the issues are or will be for the future use of it. Our designs will continue to be handcrafted silver for the lions share. Best J

  • LP333 says:

I heard you talking about a new treatment you are putting on your newer copper pieces, but what should I do about the older pieces to keep them new looking? Thanks for bringing us the best and most interesting jewelry from around the world! You’re awesome!

    • Jay King says:

Copper is something new to us and like everything new it comes with its own set of issues. We have spent so much time and money on it and learning along the way. We felt it was important to find something we could use to keep that big bold look in metal that not everyone else is doing and still make it affordable to our veiwers. We are coming out with a cleaning kit that will clean any of our designs easily as well as you gold or other jewelry and not hurt the stones.Plus new treatments.Best J

  • LP333 says:

I am somewhat new to your jewelry, but have fallen in love with all of your designs. I purchased quite a lot during your epic clearance sale. I like the copper, but was greatly disappointed when I looked at the Jarosite Copper Necklace that I purchased back in April. The copper is tarnished, ugly, & cheap looking. Is there something else I should be doing? I either keep your jewelry in the bags they came in or the Prestige boxes from HSN. Not sure if I should return all the copper pieces??

    • Jay King says:

Copper was a new metal for us and its been a learning process for us. We have a new cleaning kit coming out soon that will be able to clean the copper as well as all your jewelry from us and not hurt the stones. Please keep me informed if you continue to have an issue after the cleaning kit comes out and I will make sure you are well taken care of. Best J

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM TEXAS! Just received my Pilot Mountain Turquoise ring. SPECTACULAR! Purchase = a hill outside my home town is called Pilot’s Knob because it is the tallest point between the Gulf and San Antonio. Naturally, Pilot Mountain mine peaked my interest. Researched the mine and found the history to be interesting and, a pix of your ring was among the featured pieces. Fantastic. Going to be a bit more careful when I look at estate pieces. Great mine find! Happy hunting to you.

  • MissC54 says:

Happy Snappy New Year Jay…will you be bringing in more red garnet and petrified wood in 2013? Seemed like there was much less of it last year. I enjoy your shows, have bought alot of your pieces through the years, I always DVR Mine Finds if I can’t watch! Best wishes and keep on having FUN!

  • SassyTapper says:

Could you make a clasp to go with the 42 inch necklaces. There are times when I would want to wear it shorter than the 42 inch length. I’m sure that there are other women who feel the same as I do. I love your jewelry. They are a pleasure to wear. They are works of art.

  • wiscontwin52 says:

    Happy New Year, Jay!
Saw your end of year shows, those that I could. Totally amazed by the variety that you bring to us. I was wondering if in your travels you ever come across any King’s Manassas turquoise. It has a special place in my heart and would love to have one of your designs in that turquoise. What are the chances? Thanks and safe travels!

    • Jay King says:

They aren’t related but I have worked their material in the past. The blue material is all gone as far as I know and they still have some green. I don’t think there is any bulk rough around anymore just small amounts that the cutters in the area still use. The problem I had with it was after you set the cabachon it would sometimes crack for some reason. My mom was born very close to there in the Texaco station my grandfather owned. I’ll check and see what might still be available J
